was reading feedbacks at Newegg, came across this one. I blanked out the company name :

EDIT: As I stated up top, I only wrote this review because _________ was giving away free stuff in exchange for reviews.

hmm not sure but isnt that what happens with all the youtubers getting shit?

Not that I'm aware of but no doubt it's not uncommon which is why I think I recall that it's illegal. I doubt any Government agency would bother with it, what with the Government being so corrupt - just wondered if a company giving things or money to customers to have them post reviews was officially illegal

I think one big issue is that people are more inclined to "review" something on a merchant website if they have a problem with it even if it's their own fault so you got to do something to get other reviews.

As long as they disclose it, it's fine with me.

Asrock rebates lately have a bonus option that requires a labeled review to obtain, nothing shady about it as it is all out in the open.

Disclosing it is actually the way to STAY legal, keeping quiet about it can be a problem in some jurisdictions depending on the situation (not a lawyer blahblah).

You're essentially being paid for your review. You're lucky they don't 1099 you and make you pay income tax.

If it was $600 or more annually, they would, at least it seemed that way last I looked into something similar. Crypto miners might want to remember that number btw, all that stuff is coming into the crosshairs of governments worldwide for their slice of your pie.

Yeah but they had it that way for a very long time. Half the positive reviews on amazon are paid for.

well, being an avid consumer, I read the reviews of what I buy before buying it. If the review section is flooded with "this review is in exchange for" then I typically just steer clear of it.
