Lol, my drives are in the middle of a bad blocks test.
I'm fighting with BB now trying to get a price adjustment of $10.
Update, no dice, I have to buy a new one and take the other one back.
CrystalDiskinfo shows you the drive info quick and easy https://crystalmark.info/?lang=en For example I have one I didn't shuck yet and it shows it as WD80EFAX. Also a bunch of info here:Is there a way of checking whether or not they're reds before shucking them?
Does it matter if they're whites in a Synology NAS?
I'm just going to use a MOLEX to SATA adapter, I'll just cover the wires in electrical tape so it doesn't look like a ketchup and mustard.
Mine is going in an HTPC not a NAS.
Do you have a picture of what a crimped one looks like? Mine is the standard molex going into a standard black SATA with one wire missing. I think it's the right kind.Make sure you use a molex -> sata adapter that is crimped and not molded.

I had to use a moles to Satan before my system would recognize the drive, working fine now.
You're doing it wrong, then.Never heard turning moles to Satan before.
