GHOST S1 - When both size & performance matters

Believe you could, Jay is saying hes going to do exactly that.

THE real question is can you stack the Ghost S1 on another Ghost S1! Haha

Large Top Hat
Ghost S1
Small Top Hat
Ghost S1
Large Top Hat

Haha, on SFFF there is talk about "Joiner Hats"!

I wonder if you could do a rad on the bottom to cool gpu and rad on top for the cpu(x2 hats), or vice versa. Would be like a little m-atx case.

apparently you can, which is what Jay said he's most likely going to do. When you keep adding on these top hats though, I'm kinda wondering when you leave "SFF" territory and enter NZXT manta ITX territory

Correct, you can put one on each end.

Pachalski no meme just showing my support

Not surprised, niche use case but stacking them just comes to mind after seeing its modularity.

No question on the second comment

Good to know, aluminum feet might break the aesthetic but I am going to test the look.

Plus shipping right? Also I placed an order for the XS... closer to ship date will I have a choice to add a top hat?

Yeah, shipping is around $32 from what I've calculated from the base price and total price that includes shipping. I'm still wondering how VAT works for American buyers (apparently you can get a VAT refund?), but I don't see any info on it. I could have sworn they said they would have better information on it compared to the original kickstarter.

Hmm let me know what you find out. You going AIO for CPU or air? I'm half tempted to get the large top hat with Fractal S24.. Those thermals are awesome!

I've never done water, too paranoid of a leak, even with the warranties. Probably just going to do 2x120mm fans in a M hat mounted on the bottom with a air cooler on the CPU. Or maybe do a S hat with 2x120mm slim fans.

I would love the option of joiner hats. Personally i would put a much lower spec machine in lower case and main rig at top of the stack. Would be so small, neat and tidy compared to having multiple seperate cases

Hmm... I've been thinking about getting a separate rig purely for gaming, but I haven't done it partially because of desktop space. Stacking two Ghosts with a joiner hat would solve that problem - having a workstation case in the bottom and a much more heat generating game case on top. :geek:

@Pachalski

Also wrote you on KS, maybe you can drill 2 holes in the back where the "label" is, to put through tubes for an external radiator ;)?

I was thinking about this one Pachalski - a joiner/joining top hat could be setup with grills at front and rear of the hat to exhaust hot air from case below. Could be tall enough to fit fans and push air out of case below. But could have angled panel from center upwards and outwards to funnel the hot air ?

In for the OG backer pledge, which has now come and gone so we can bring it up. Unfortunate that of the 357 original backers only about half got in on that, although I imagine some got itchy trigger fingers and went for one of the early bird specials rather than wait for an hour. I know I was getting nervous watching the early birds dwindle down, waiting patiently for the 15 minute window to start....

More importantly: a very promising start to the overall campaign. You have blown past the original campaign totals in 1.5 hours and are almost 50% funded. Last time around you were a little over 15% funded after a full day. Hopefully I am not giving anyone PTSD by showing the original kickstarter campaign record:

https://www.kicktraq.com/projects/926379907/ghost-s1/#chart-daily

You had the same number of backers in a matter of minutes today, than you did in the first full day last time. Well done!

Oops...so what if we are an original backer and missed the original backer special? I am currently an early bird special backer. Will I get treated like a original backer at the end of the campaign?

So before I backed, I misread the size specifications on the GPU support, and mistakingly understood that my 1080ti GamingX fits in the normal Ghost S1.

Looking again, that seems to be false as the Gaming X clearly takes 2.5 slots.

I don't want to cancel my pledge, but I am not getting rid of this card. So that leaves... water cooling right?

The build I had planned for all of this (finally upgrading from a 2500k from 6 years ago), called for an 8700k alongside my 1080ti.

I would like to overclock the 8700k, though whether that ends up being 4.8ghz or 5ghz is not that important to me. The 1080ti could probably live without an overclock.

What are my options for the Ghost? My pledge includes a top hat, so I guess my only choice is to go water cooled with a Large Top Hat.

Can I manage this with a single 240mm rad (which I guess is the largest the top hat supports)? Would I really need to go for two top hats and if so how on earth would that work?

I am a noob to the world of water cooling, so that makes me nervous to be honest, but if it ends up being practical, I could see it for that SFF goodness.

I don't think that the GamingX will fit at all becasue of the width.
That's not something that can be fixed with a tophat.

Edit: Reading your message again I realize you are talking about custom watercooling the GPU, sorry for the misinterpretation.

Is it possible to still grab the original backer if you verify some backers aren't eligible? I didn't even realize that was an option.

How do I get to post within the For Sale/trade thread? Says insufficient privileges.

I would email/PM the Louqe crew.

Yeah do this. I noticed the backer number for the original backer special has changed from 133 to 132. Plus I'm sure when it was live, it showed about 200 or 250 available I think. Always worth just asking them :)

Need about 125 more cases sold, depending on whether they opt for a top hat or not (more if not) or about 5 cases/day for 27 days. I hope the dreamhack conference gets you guys across the finish line, or some more info on the AIO builds you guys are working up.

I'd rather put my bets on getting boosted by Jays2cents making a full build and testing it out before the campaign ends. People like to know how stuff performs and it's best to give them that data from a 3rd party (media/reviewers).

By the way - Is there anyone else who don't have the costs and funding amounts converted to USD? I'm kind of curious why I'm not seeing it on my home PC...

So are you guys going to use the 240 AIO on the bottom or top? I'm still trying to figure that one out

You can do either...

I would go for top mount AIO (L TopHat) set to exhaust & dual 120mm x 25mm fans in the bottom (M TopHat) set to intake...

Will you be able to screw that middle small hat to both frames? I mean is there a way to access the screws from both sides?

All TopHats can be screwed from the bottom or top side with access from the respective side.

Well for any SFF case exhausting air out the back is idea. Using a open air style GPU will saturate the interior of the case with heat which in-turn will rise CPU temperatures. I will wait to see Jayz2cents "balls to the wall" build and maybe he can sqeeze that kingpin 1080ti in there. If he can and prove low CPU temps (without AIO) then I may consider sticking with an open air style GPU.

I was thinking about this. I backed and got a Sentry case from SaperPL & ZombiPL. In their thread some people have used foam to create a funnel for GPU or CPU fans up to the grills on the case. Maybe with the side grills something like this would help the non-blower style cards.

With the dual chamber layout the GPU and CPU affect on each other is very limited and non blower cards are not a problem. We preferred them even, simply because of noise levels.

Yes, all backers will be asked if they need more TopHats, regardless of pledge in order for us to manufacture the right amount and deliver them with the shipment

Yes, we will make sure to treat all OBs fairly

Your components are pretty identical to our custom loop rig that uses one L TopHat. More about it later with temps

Decisions. Decisions. The small tophat on the bottom just looks so clean and not out of proportion, but their numbers aren't out yet in terms of config options and resulting temps.
Not sure the small tophat will make much of a difference to invest in 2 slim fans. Same applies to the medium. And the large is the only one with a major upgrade option.

Really looking forward to the test results so I can decide on my accompanying tophat.

The standoff feets aren't that high, so I would think bottom airflow is too limited to really get a benefit out of anything more than a small tophat; or even the small one might not be worth it.

Louqe are going to test taller feet soon, to see how much of a difference it makes to temperatures. If it does make a significant difference, I think they said they'll also include a set of taller feet for free.
