yeah I don't think its going to help much at all either. But I guess its better then waiting on new architecture from AMD.
So, this is a bit of conjecture on my part (because my source would neither confirm or deny it), but from what I infer, Vega refresh is not so much about battling for supremacy with Nvidia.
Rather, there is a concern that AMD would be pushed out of the market with NVIDIA's Volta launch (esp. considering how much it actually costs to produce Vega).
Vega's successor won't be completed in time, so Vega's refresh is what AMD is stuck with.
