A Flat-Earther’s Plan to Launch Himself in a Homemade Rocket Just Hit a Speed Bump

I kinda hope he doesnt make it out i mean honestly 1800ft the guy who put weather ballons on a lawn chair got higher. Oh what about the skydiver who did so from like 77k ft. Or hell comercial air way any flight comercial will get you over 10k ft up and up to 30k

lol
I wonder what he thinks science is.
I dont think he knows what he doesnt believe in.
He is of the belief that all things have always existed and that "formula" is aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, physics, the study of wonton burrito meals... And science is all fiction...

I fully encourage you guys to look into some of this crap. It's highly entertaining. Absolutely stupid, but also entertaining. Let me try and address a few things I've picked up from these nutjobs.....

Imagine a flat disc, with a pole in the center rising from it. Attach a string to the sun and the moon, attach the strings to the pole. The sun and moon rotate around this axis, staying on the edge of the disc. As the sun moves away from you and the moon gets closer, it's night. The closer the sun is to you on this flat plain, the more daylight you see.

The flat earth is moving upwards. The force of gravity isn't pulling you to the center of the earth, it's simply the force of the earth moving upwards through space that is pushing you down to the surface.

What's there to explain? Everything is flat, there are no curves. Shipping lanes are all in straight lines and the only thing that's moving is the sun around the circle.

Yeah, I fucking love these guys. So simply devoid of common sense, yet they come up with these simple explanations for everything that if you dont think about it, it all makes total sense!

IIRC, they claim that the earth is moving through space (I forget the claimed speed),yet also claim that space is inside the canopy they claim is above the earth. Their mental gymnastics level is over 9000!

Wouldn't that require constant acceleration, rather than just motion; and rather than seeing red shift everywhere we look we would be seeing huge amounts of blue shift?

(I know, I know, they'd just say everything is accelerating with us...)

* * *

Fucker only wanted to go 1,800 feet up. I've personally flown aircraft from see level to 10,000 feet in the air, and that's still far too low to see the curvature of the earth. IIRC even the SR71 guys couldn't see it at 85,000 feet. Why not just ride a weather balloon for your silly stunt? Baumgartner got to 120,000 feet on the Red Bull Stratos mission.

It would cost hardly anything, and easily be approved, to launch your own camera and straight edge on a weather balloon, but this isn't about science or research. It's about an old "dare devil" that wanted to make headlines one more time.

(Course, doing that, if any curvature was discerned, they'd say that it was the edge of the disc you're seeing and not the curvature of the earth. Assholes.)

Haha I was thinking the same thing, I just assumed it was a mistype. Like maybe he wanted to go 180,000 feet instead of 1,800 feet. He could just get a ticket to Dubai and goto the top of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Burj Khalifa is 2722 ft.

Oh dear. Theres no saving him, he will die of stupid.

unless it is all an act to bilk as many dumb people out of money as he can to achieve his dream of riding a steam powered home built rocket into space.... humm i would not blame him if it was not for the STEAM powered bit...

Interesting to see how it plays out.

So what happens if this guy really made it that high and survives. Will the rest of these flat earthers think he's a traitor for lying that earth is round or will he just flat out lie and say earth is flat, told ya so!

You can't believe the earth is flat if you understand scale

Or they could just say that once the earth starts approaching the speed of light due to maintaining a constant 1G acceleration that it just flips over quickly and starts slowly decelerating to keep inertia equal with 1G. See how easy it was for me to just make that shit up? This is what they do all day long. Just fabricate any random explanation for anything and everything.

Plus saying "I don't believe in science" is like saying "I don't believe in Mondays." You may not like them, but they're real nonetheless. :p

To quote a signature of a member from another forum I frequent "Ballistics - it is rocket science!" Millions upon millions of hunters every year use principles of rocket science without even thinking about it. If I have to rely on "science" to make sure my target bullet puts a hole in the paper where I want it, or to make sure I get to bring home meat from my hunt, if this guy thinks he can get into a rocket without doing the proper calculations and survive....Well, more power to him!
