No kidding. Makes me wonder if I made a mistake going with a 7820X.

Remember back when a 1700x for $300 was a good deal? It must have been what, 6 months ago :ROFLMAO:

Jesus Christ. I ordered the 1950x yesterday from newegg because both were priced at $800. That could have been a 2meg stick of DDR4.

FML. drove my kid to Kansas City today for a dr appointment and didn't stop, as I was unaware. smoking hot

Not sure if this is allowed, but would someone be willing to pick one of these up if I sent paypal with an additional $20 for your trouble as well as shipping costs to me? I don't have microcenter around here.

If the motherboards weren't so effin expensive, it'd be great.
Yeah for these guys it is actually cheaper to buy the motherboard elsewhere. The cheapest I've seen is the Asrock Taichi for $250 after rebate on Newegg (which is a great board).

Hopefully more stock comes in. Microcenter's Black Friday pricing usually lasts for a month or so.

When I looked yesterday, the taichi came up like 10$ different but i'd still have to pay tax
The only motherboard I like is the fatality board anyways, and it's $$$$$$$$$ for the 8 core I'd buy lol.

If they'd drop that 8700k back down I'd go saturday.

I have done this before. I'm in KC every other Saturday. When I get home I'll see if they have any in stock.

I'll be right next door to one on the Monday after the holiday weekend if you still need it (and it's still on sale).

Edit: Well my store is sold out atm.. so depends on if they get more stock.

Oh man how tempting this is. Not because I need it, but because I WANT it.

To 1920x or pay down bills? Be responsible or tell my kids, "Do as I say, not as I do."

Hmmmm

Well, to anyone, I will be in KC this Sat. I intend to visit Microcenter for myself. Says on MC's site, at this time, they have four each of the 1950x, 1920x, and 1900x in stock

is the 1900x and x399 worth it vs getting the 1700X and a x370 and oc it? I know you get a bazillion pci lanes but dollar to performance we are talking 300 ish vs 800 ish...

The 1900x is not worth getting unless you need the pcie lanes. Besides instead of a good 100-200 dollar board, your paying 350 dollars for the mobo.

Agreed. I wouldn't bother with TR4 unless I was getting at least the 1920x. The lone exception, being that you need many PCIe lanes without the increased CPU cores.
If the lanes aren't needed and the 1920x is out of the budget range, I would suggest the AM4 route.

In general, a 1800x would perform better than a 1900x because the weird CCX configurations. I suppose if you just wanted to get on the platform you could get the 1900x and wait for a newer iteration to be released, but that's still a lot of $$$

You probably get a better bin with the 1900x than the 1800x, but I wouldn't bank on that. (I saw a reviewing get 4.3ghz with a 1900x)

I got lucky and went to Micro Center in search of a 1920x. The guy tagged it out for me and was like, ok now lets work on the rest of the system. I said, I don't really need anything else from here unless you are ready to pricematch the Asrock x399 Gaming Pro on Newegg. Well they price matched it for me so I saved myself about $50 and the wait and gave MC my business. They'll have repeat customer for this.

Man this price is making me itchy to do a new build. My main rig - X99 - is getting a little long in the tooth and my just finished mini-itx 1700+ Vega 56 build just doesn't seem beast enough. The thought of a TR 1950 + Vega Frontier edition would be fun but I suspect the performance wouldn't be that great for the bulk of the things that I do - MS Office (mostly spreadsheets) / Gaming / Wordpress.

I wonder how the TR + Vega FE would do on the BOINC challenges (Dec 1 is only a week away) or crypto mining ...

Heads Up - For those that are not near a MicroCenter, if you got the 10% eBay cash email today, you can essentially get the 1950x for $799.99-$80=$719.99 and the 1920x for $649.99-$65=$584.99 through the NewEgg eBay store.

Ebay also doesn't charge tax if I'm not mistaken, so depending on how things work out, that's less than the Microcenter TCO [for the 1950 at least].

A TR 1950x combo is just over 100 bucks more than a 7820X combo with same brand board, like for ex. the MSI Carbon x399 vs x299. This is crazy.
