WCG 13th Annual 2017 Birthday Challenge

Dualy kept turning off yesterday, pinned it down to a multibit ecc error on one of the dimms... swapped it out and it seems to be staying up. 44c/88t, it should start dumping some points soon.

Well, and the ability to run four processors on a suitable main board, too. :p I might get my hands on a quad Skylake in the near future... could be fun. :)

Lol, I only have a pair of them...on a x10dax. 4p intel boards are... stupid expensive and cases are harder...
Next on my list is to rebuild harbringer with epyc... as soon as parts actually become available.

Heh,

I just got home from work. Lately I've been walking in the door a few minutes before the time I set my heat to come on and bring my room up to temperature and the chill in the room was noticeable.
Tonight I get home and the room temp is exactly where I wanted it :-D
Maybe I should keep this up all winter?

We need some more major hardware fired up...

We have less than 32 hours left till the end of the challenge.

We are making a very strong push, but I would like to get enough of a lead (in the event that we take 3rd) to defend against a major bunker of some kind.

I don't see us getting 3rd place. We're 8.9 million points behind with 25 hours to go. Since we are only doing around 13 million points per day as it we would have to nearly increase production by 75%.

Heck yeah smilr . We could use some more CPU power in other projects after this challenge is over plus the WCG Christmas Challenge is in December that we could use your boxen on.

3rd place does look out of reach but It's pretty bloody amazing what the team has achieved. We're at a run rate of about 15M WCG points today (14M so far) thanks, in no small part, to your tireless recruiting efforts Skillz (y)

If we had managed that kind of rate from the start in additional to a typical 2x daily rate kick off bunker we'd be in 2nd place. Phenomenal stuff considering our previous best of 11th place and a total score last year lower than our current daily production.

Well my original goal was a top 10 finish. I didn't think we would be in the running for a top 5 finish.

I wish I wasn't out of work the first few days before and start of the challenge. I might have been able to gather a few more recruits during that time, but oh well. 4th place is still a good finish.

Yeah we obliterated the christians in FB this past week. Haha.

Ye of little faith....lol. Told ya not to worry about that...lol

So what are the dates for the Christmas race? That would be great if we could keep this momentum going into another race.

Usually it starts on the 1st of December and ends on the 24th of December.

ChelseaOilman since it's this close to the end of the month perhaps you can let your rigs communicate with the servers tomorrow during regular hours. Otherwise, your dump tonight will be the last time your points will go towards the challenge. It ends tomorrow at 7PM EST.

Not sure if it's just me, or others have seen issues too, but never have I had so many instances of systems crashing and/or boinc freaking out as I have now. Have ran small armies of servers for weeks on end running WCG, PG, POGS and so on without issue... but I've had the exact opposite this past week. On the "positive" side, have an unexpected 700 some odd WU back log that's loading in now. :p

I haven't had any issues on my end.

700 WU should be a nice bump in the next hour update.

I'm transitioning my desktop to an 8700k; I'll still have the 6700k, it'll be in an ITX build, running Linux- and I'll need help with that :)

There are a few of us here that run Linux who will be able to help ya out with that.

Congrats everyone. And thank you Skillz for the recruiting efforts. They don't go unnoticed.

Yes congrats everyone! Started from the bottom and now we're here.

Im so sorry to have started so late.. good thing you can count on me to keep helping =) it's not like those idle machines are going to keep doing anything else.. they have now a purpose.

Oh is that right?! I will have plenty of purpose for them starting Jan 1 when we join League 2 in Formula-BOINC. :p

Awesome job everyone. This is by far the best turnout we have had with WCG. A great big thanks to Skillz for his awesome recruiting job. Thanks to the vets that came out of retirement. Thanks to the long term heroes that crunch it everyday. And thanks to the new members that joined up. We hope to keep you on long term. And thanks to SETI.Germany for hosting the event along with all the other teams that made it a fun competition.
