NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

In their status thread on the overclock forum they said the price would likely be low 400s. That seems like it would still beat getting a proc plus delid kit on my own.

Yeah it sounds like they are at least matching Neweggs price, sounds like the way to go.

do you think the delid would be necessary if not overclocking? i have all my parts from the list I put earlier in the thread except the 8700k.

I see they're in stock on new egg now so debating ordering that or buying one already delidded from silicon lottery.

I don't plan on overclocking but think it might be good for better temps quieter fans. I'll be using the noctua u9s cooler and a vega 64 card in a m1.

I'm actually thinking of not delidding mine, even though base clock is 3.7 GHz mine runs at 4.3 - 4.7 GHz. Temps during stress testing at those settings are 58-62C which isn't bad at all. I figure with it running at those high clocks there really isn't any reason to overclock, so no reason to delid.

Anyone try putting the EVGA 120mm AIO into the Ncase M1 v5? Been unsatisfied with the H60 as it doesn't sit flush on the mounting rack and like the radiator on the EVGA 1080 Hybrid. Concerned the hose placement and lack of swivel mount on the CPU block may prevent it from fitting.

I literally have that exact setup setting on my desk. Waiting for a z370 itx/8600k deal.

If I can ever get a deal anytime soon, I will let you know. I am also going dual aio's and have some ek vardars coming in the mail.

Finished making custom cables for my M1 build and wanted to share:

Very nice job on the cables, want to make me some? :p

That C14 looks good with the white Phanteks fan.

Haha, thanks! Don't know if you have a Corsair PSU and are serious, but I already have a black/white/gray 8 pin GPU cable done and could finish out the set if you like the colors.

The fan is great, I also have an NF A15 and it performs just as well as the Noctua and looks much better.

Great photos! So clean! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!

it looks really nice! Can you share the cable lengths and where you bought the cables from?

Made the cables by hand myself. The GPU cable is 150mm, the CPU cable is about 430mm (each cable has a different length - each gets 4mm shorter), and 24 pin's longest outer cable is 270mm. The inner cables are all 4mm shorter than the outer and each cable gets 4mm shorter as you move down the connector. So the shortest outer wire is 194mm.

I also made a 24 pin with 250mm as the longest wire, and that was pretty tight. 250mm is about the shortest length you can do.

That looks great, how long did it take you to make those?

Thanks, it took maybe 4 hours to do the three cables. It's my second set, the first I did with 16 AWG wire which was harder to work with. This is 18 AWG wire which isn't as thick is 16, but it is easier to manage.

You mean 240GTX...?

No, the 280. I went ahead and ordered the GTR 280, it's going to be super tight but I think it will fit. GTR is the upgraded GTX.

SOB, I ordered the wrong damn one, crap. Yea I meant to get the 240 but...

Thanks man, owe ya. Luckily, It hadn't shipped yet, so I canceled and got the 240 rolling lol. Phew!

I was curious to see how you were going to fit a 280mm radiator in the M1, fortunately they hadn't shipped yet.

For people who are doing Ryzen ITX build. I just changed my motherboard to Gigabyte AB350N.
Some people think its layout is bad; I found it to be almost perfect in NCASE M1. I have Cryorig C1 installed perfectly.
You can see the picture that RAMs are not blocked whatsoever.
The edge of C1 cooler is not touching the case. There is about 5mm of clearance.

The front power cable maybe be slightly on the shorter side but not a problem. Same with usb 3.0 cable.
I can do better for cable management by pulling it to the front of the case but I just don't care lol.

The bottom 2 fans are Scythe slipstream 120mm slim PWM I got from performance PC. They are OOS at the moment.
Those fans kinda provide air flow to the M.2 drive on the back. I have Plextor M8PeG (the one with heatsink)
The drive usually sits in the mid 40s and up to high 50s when I do some task. I have not seen it hitting 60 yet.

ADATA XPG Z1 2400 is OC to 2933 with 16-15-15-38 . I tried 3200 but it didn't boot right..
CPU is not OCed yet.

Overall this is the cleanest build I have ever had...I'm quite pleased by its look.

Wondering what cable combs you used there.
Reason for asking is the one's I can find online make a massive space between each cable and I don't like the look of that. Yours looks very tight without gap's in the middle.
I'd like to buy black one's though.

Thanks.

Well, after 11 months and reading almost every post on this thread my build is completed. Standard all-air thanks to snagging one of the last C14 from Canada. I went with 8700 non-K as I’m not a big overclocker and like the 65W TDP for this form factor. After fiddling with the fans for a week my gaming (BF4) temp highs are CPU 66C, GPU 68C. Very happy with the build and thanks to all of you here, one of the easiest I’ve ever done. This is a tremendously helpful group of people!

No pics because there are several almost exactly like it in the gallery already.

Nice temps on the 8700, but the C14 is an excellent cooler.

I got the wire wraps from ensourced.

https://www.ensourced.net/wire-wraps/

They are meant to be installed when building the cable but you can cut a hole in them to feed the wires through. There are pictures of this on the product page.

Sorry I didn't understand the "building the cable" & "cutting a hole" part.

Can't I just buy: https://www.ensourced.net/black-3d-printed-wire-wrap/

Grats!
Just curious, where were you able to grab the last C14 from in Canada?

It was back in January with a brick&mortar retailer that also has online sales. Sorry don’t recall the name of the company. A couple of other people here and I cleaned out the last of their stock in just a week as I recall.

Perhaps it was Memory Express. I got an NH-C14 from them that was one of their last ones.

Does anyone have a Asus z270/z370 itx board with a Cryorig C1? When the orientation has the heatpipes by the ram what is the clearance?

I can see in builds like this https://pcpartpicker.com/b/bF8Ycf that it does fit, but want to know if I have enough clearance for Dominator Platinums

Hey,

1) Is it possible to use Noctua D9L & have a 120mm fan on the left side bracket?
On noctua's website it states that the height of the D9L with the fan's installed is 110mm.
A 25mm thick fan would make it ~135mm total.

2) Also, can you fit a 2.5" laptop hdd on the inside front with 2 x 3.5" hdd mounted on the right side bracket?

Thanks.

1. Yes, but you can't use the front fan on the cooler. I have the http://noctua.at/en/nf-a15-pwm on the side with the D9L with a single fan in the between the towers, and one 92mm on exhaust back of the case. You won't generally fit the front fan, but YMMV. Didn't work for me, maybe super short RAM might help?

2. Can't answer, sorry. Haven't tried that config.

So, you are saying I can fit a 25mm thick fan on the left side bracket as long as I put the 2nd fan of the D9L on the exhaust part of the case?

-----

Do you think there is a temperature difference between the following 2 setups?:

A) fan in the middle of the D9L + fan at exhaust + 120mm fan on left side of bracket

vs

B) Fan in the middle of the D9L + fan on left side of the D9L (not exhaust) + 15mm fan on left side of the bracket

Thanks.

Can also be on the back tower if you wanted, not necessarily on the case, heatsinks allowing.

This is how I have mine.

I used to not have the side fan, and had 2 fans on the tower. Probably still only a couple degrees difference with the side fan because I run low RPMs, and the GPU kicks out a lot of heat.

I doubt either orientation would make a huge difference to thermals.

I'm going to go with the following and hopefully it goes well:
92mm fan in middle of heatsink + 92mm fan on case back exhaust like yours + 15mm fan on the left side bracket.

Seeing Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming, could it be a possibility that the M1 be in sale?
5 years anniversary and case is at Version 5
5 x 5 = $25 rebate = $160 instead of $185 for either BF or CM or all the weekend?

I really like how tiny it is, but not enough ITX board around for what I would want it for.

Probably not but you never know. The cases have gotten cheaper since V1. Lets see what Necere and Waha have to say about this.

I don't think that there will be a sale :(
