Hey guys!

So I've been gaming on desktop pc's my whole life ( big change coming *baby* :p ) and I may have to give up my office/gaming room. Im used to the system in my sig, it runs anything and everything at 1920x1080 @ ultra flawlessy right now. Im used to that smoothness and my 144hz monitor. And i would like my gaming experience to stay the same.

I've stumbled across what looks to be this beast of a laptop, it is $2500+ but it looks amazing spec/build wise. ( lets not start with the you can build 3 times the system for that money blah blah blah, were talking this laptop here lol. Or if you know of a better one, please suggest it )

Here it is, only complaint, its not a 17" screen:

Do you guys think ill have the same gaming experience at highest settings with this laptop matching my current pc setup in my sig? I'll be playing PUBG, CS:GO, the latest AAA titles. This is a laptop with a full desktop 1080 correct? Has laptop gaming truly reached PC desktop level?

Thanks for your input!

first, its a Max-Q 1080, which is different from a standard 1080. lower clocks for lower temps better battery.

It also has GDDR5 isntead of G5x, and it says VRAM is at 5GHZ which would also be slower.

still, its probably better than/equal to your 980ti. The CPU is most likely worse, might be hard to get to 120fps on some.

What about a Sager laptop?

Product Highlights
  • 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-8700K Processor
  • 17.3" Full HD IPS Matte Display with G-SYNC Technology
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5
  • 16GB DDR4 at 2400MHz
  • 250GB Western Digital Blue M.2 SSD + 1TB 5400rpm HDD
  • Killer DoubleShot Pro with Smart Teaming
  • Thunderbolt 3 connectivity
  • Color illuminated keyboard
  • Built-in Area Fingerprint Reader
  • ESS SABRE HiFi audio DAC
  • World's slimmest Desktop Replacement
  • Windows 10 Home 64-Bit Edition
You can customize it to have a real 1080 with GDDR5X, with the 1080, it is real close to that $2500 you spoke about earlier.

That Asus laptop (in link) looks great man. It's on the pricey side compared to a desktop build but as far as laptops go, I don't think you can get much better specs than that. If you don't mind the $$$ I'd say go for it.

Dang, thanks for pointing that out. So it is pretty diff than your standard 1080.

Just get one of these they are kinda cheap...

Holy shit... what is that thing? Had never seen or heard of that till now. Although size isn’t really a concern for me, look how much sleeker/nicer the ASUS is compared to that thing .

Damn (y)

Will look into this one too! I’ve just never heard of or seen this brand???

Yah, that’s what I’m thinking as well. Never bought something like this before.

I was in the same boat as you. Grabbed an Asus 17 inch with an i7, gtx 970 and gsync. Gave up chasing top end graphics, I have just as much fun using the laptop on my homemade lap desk. Best of luck with the kid and finding gaming time!
