AMD Threadripper Gooseberry HEDT World Record? - [H]

How hot is too hot for an i7-3930k?

I find several answers, none very good for me, lol.

If you have time throw up a super pi 1m, i'd love to see it.

I tried running it last night. It crashed after a minute and a half every time I tried to run it.
I had the 12g of memory and am running a Xeon 5670 on Win7.

yeah even 16gb wasn't enough for me.. windows 10 was shitting it's self..

If you start swapping to hard drive, even with an ssd, you're toast on this.

8X C during heavy stress testing is ok, but I wouldn't run it long term above 7X C.

Apparently you can install Blender on Linux. I wanted to run this BM but I only have 16GB of RAM... I am curious how it compares. Also if Ramdisk / NVME can improve it any. Really a shame you cant OC just one CCX to say, 4.4ghz and leave the rest at 4. Does it really scale that well ?? 14 cores at 4.2Ghz anyone?

I've done some tests with Blender and and it scales pretty linearly with cores on Ryzen/Threadripper. So 16 cores at 3.7ghz will still be quicker than 14 cores at 4.2 ghz.

On a Corsair AIO? My ass....
Well, I am not suggesting that he could not get a Cinebench score out of it, but not much beyond that. And I doubt he lapped his round Asetek block on the TT cooler that AMD sent him.

174 cb?

It gives well-below 165cb even with memory/interconnect OC

Dunno. Updated bios since release? Memory timings? I've run it multiple times, always comes out around there - even did 175 one run but didn't screenshot it.

I also score 3040 multi thread at default, which seems higher than the reviewers were getting as well.

In fact, looking at the reviews and my benches, I'm pretty much higher across the board. Guess the reviews were hampered by early bioses or something.

Pretty interesting stuff. Threadripper scales really well, looks like. Here's what I got on my Ryzen 1800X at stock 3.6 Ghz, 32 GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro

I do that all the time in linux, you can too with TR if you overclock using pstates.
Example from one of my servers:
root@storage01:~# grep . /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies:1500000 1300000 1000000 800000
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies:1500000 1300000 1000000 800000
Now change only cpu1 to 800000:
root@storage01:~# echo 800000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
Put some cpu load on the system and check the current freq:
root@storage01:~# grep . /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq:1500000
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq:800000

You can easily create some scripts to automate all this ;)

just did mine at 21:09 4ghz on all cores but with 2400mhz memory dont know if that make a difference. 1.325v

just a quick overclock since i got it last night. 63c was the peak temp and i was watching twitch and surfing web at same time.
