YouTube Will Crack Down on Bizarre Videos Targeting Kids

YouTube plans to crack down on strange videos aimed a kids by age restricting the content. Back in August, the company announced it would no longer allow content creators to monetize videos using family friendly characters. Apparently these videos are a genre into itself as the company is taking these steps to prevent the further "corruption" of our young children. The company's first step are to alter its algorithmic filters and then have its team of humans review videos that have been flagged.

Prepare to lose your mind.

YouTube says it typically takes at least a few days for content to make its way from YouTube proper to YouTube Kids, and the hope is that within that window, users will flag anything potentially disturbing to children...

Its a good idea, on paper, but Youtube is a complete disaster with anything automated. Especially automated filters and flags. Just ask content creators how much they like having an AI controlling which videos are allowed to have ads on them.
 
Like watching something out of a Creepy Pasta story.

I'm still trying to figure out whos creating these vids and why. Theres thousands of them, and some are long as hell like this one.
Who is wasting so much time creating this shit, with the only intention of damaging kids heads

If only people would go outside and fish, camp, hunt, ride bikes, ski. I drive by the bus stop on the way to work and these kids are so white, you can see their vascular systems. It is so sad, when I was a kid making me stay inside was punishment.
 
Well, Obama told us that kids are 25 years old or younger. (Or was it 26?) Is that going to be the youtube limit, too?

Yeah just as some people are getting indicted, whilst pedowood getting heat and some other career politician is being distanced by her party.
 
if you have a 3yo they learn to watch youtube and some of these "make money stay at home dads/moms/kids youtube channels" are stupid. some are great for kids... some are wrong.
a. thats not purple ... that is yellow.
b. that is not illinois, its michigan.

most of it is adults playing with toys or kids playing with toys and the makers make $$. however often its masked as educational when its garbage and often not even remotely accurate. 1+2 is not 4.

The problem with some recent videos are making very young kids play with adult toys and passing it off as educational.. not to worry though they got the kids parents to do it /s :facepalm:

YT has allowed this for far too long. Funny only now in the current climate how YT are trying to wash their hands on this. Remember how facebook wouldn't take down indecent images of the same kind and the UK government had to force them to do so. There is something seriously wrong here.

I watched about half the video - man, that's fucked up is all I can say. There were a few kids shows that I couldn't stand when I had babies at home - one of them was the TeleTubbies. There was another were the characters looked like dildos.
This one. Wow. (Sadly, I'll probably watch more of it later)
 
One thing Youtube got better in late 2016 vs when my son was born in 2014 (probably started watching youtube stuff for kids in 2015)...

in 2015 when new horror movies would come out (incideous 2 i think?) they would play this commerical at a volume 200-300% louder than the youtube video every 10-15 minutes. This went on for almost a year of R-rated movies being the advertisement. WTF.
 
I would absolutely love to know the motivation behind making these videos. There are TONS of them.
 
That video was legit till the sharks started to hit the fan. Never have i seen so much wanton terror.

The daddy finger song also made me wince.
 
I'm still trying to figure out the comments in some of these videos. Are these guys talking rubbish, or speaking in some sort of code?
 
yea this type of garbage needs to go. This is one reason why we removed youtube from my kids tablets. My wife and I noticed some shady garbage similar to these. That video was complete garbage and I only goth through 5 mins of it before I was tired of the music and pointless visuals.
 
about time they do something about this. no idea how or why but kids usually between 4-6 when they start watching these they get really creeply hooked on watching these. my brothers youngest was a night mare to stop. in the end i just took my brothers tablet and locked it up as they always ended up giving it to her.

The primary motivator is money. Kids watch shit on loops. The top youtube vids? Shit that makes no sense except it has known kids brands/characters and it longish.
Long is also rewarded in the monetization methods.
When you grind out soulless filler to get parents to click on it and run it in a loop for kiddies, you tend to get weird and or spiteful.
 
I believe these videos are how the criminally insane see the world. It's almost like young Joker doing his first video for a 3D animation class.
