Assassin’s Creed Origins

still have 100% CPU usage after patch. pretty frustrating when nothing i do lowers it.
Would you rather it only use 30%? Optimally, a game would use both all of your CPU and your GPU at all times.

Performance is better after patch, and after re-enabling G-Sync I don't get the stuttering during cut scenes anymore. Still have random frame drops here and there though.

This. I can't believe these women complaining that a game pegs the g.d. CPU.

I think people are mis-directing their complaint.

The complaint I believe is that the game generally seems to be CPU limited when it shouldn't.

Using 100% CPU doesn't mean anything really.

i mean, youre not wrong, but i usually game and watch something on the second screen. which is not possible with origins. the game runs well enough on its own though

This game has some weird performance quirks but in practice I don't think I've seen it really under 60 yet.

Light torch in cave, 90 fps to 60 instantly. Seems a little excessive. Also I like how it apparently needs to use 70% of an overclocked 6700k to render a video.

GPU usage is almost always 99% so I don't really seem too CPU bound despite it literally being pegged at like 95% in a city.

I got the game too for free for buying my Asus X299 Prime to go with my 7820x from Microcenter.

I am excited. I am getting it setup as my main system right now. I am going to place my Threadripper to the side for a little bit until I figure out how and where I want to use my 16 core behemoth.

Are there any SKL-X vs 8700K benches for this game? Seems like everyone tests R7 and stops. -_-

so i just got to alexandria, level 8, every next quest is 10 and up and i had to lower difficulty from hard to easy or i would get instagibbed by almost every enemy. what did you guys do at that point? just run around and level up from the random exp you get?

So for benchmarking, the new question will be "But can it run Assassins Creed Origins?" (formerly know as "But can it run Crysis?") :)

I have the opposite problem. If you do every quest in an area I find i'm over-tiered for the main story line along the way and the game has generally been too easy. This is even on the highest difficulty. The fights have been some-what challenging, but I wish there was an even higher difficulty level honestly.

Anyone else getting random slow downs while playing in borderless mode? If I go full screen its smooth sailing.

i did everything in the first area, siwa i believe it was. been behind ever since. dunno what i did wrong

Getting about 65-70fps max settings @ 3440x1440.

Dazzling. The game has honestly overwhelmed me in all good ways.

Does this game get interesting? I'm like 3 hours in and it's boring as fuck. The combat so far just involves me running directly at people with a giant 2 handed mace and killing them in 2 swings. The AI is absolutely fucking blind and lose sight of me when I murder their friend 20 feet away and walk into a bush.

I've played most of the Assassin's Creed but this one is doing a pretty good job of not hooking me so far.

What's keeping me interested are the story missions and some of the really artistic moments where your guy is in the afterlife or whatever. Some of these moments in this game are absolutely stunning.

It's otherwise somewhat of a slog. I find it mostly rewarding for the graphics.

I'm enjoying the game, I'm primarily using archery and a spear but I enjoy games that I can sneak around and pick people off one by one, in that aspect this reminds me of Sniper Elite. You can play this quite a few ways - go in swords swinging or silent and careful, depends on you. I also didn't know that my pet bird - Senu could mark targets but only when he's in hover mode or whatever they call it, he's basically the drone in Ghost Recon Wildlands.

I am enjoying it a lot. Combat is better than previous Ass Creeds as in don’t hold a button after two swings to kill everyone one by one. In this one you actually have to dodge and parry.

beautiful screenshots...I didn't know the game had such gorgeous colors...although the ground textures and the cat models are pretty low res in that 2nd screenie

That first shot is using photo mode editor and a filter

The 1.03 patch really in helped with the stuttering I was getting at launch. But completely jacked up streaming it via steam for some reason.

This is officially my favorite Ass Creed since Black Flag.

20 hours in and I've done three story missions. This thing is huge and the sidequests are definitely buffed up. Exploration is fantastic.

I'm in a minority, but AC3 will always be my favorite. I really enjoyed going through the wilderness and the snow effects along with the historical moments you play through.

Black flag is probably my second favorite, and this is my third.

It does progress in difficulty throughout the game somewhat and it is slow to progress. It's such a long game that you might not notice when they add new game mechanics. There are captains who can't be put to sleep or assassinated for example.

At one point of the story she warns that there's no turning back, but it's just a really long mission, and you don't have to worry about completing all of the areas beforehand.

Yes. Everything gets better. You really want to get some stealth and ranged options going. You also get better swords, knives, etc.

Ideally, I found out myself that it was good to start the main quest and at least meet Aya the first time in Alexandria to get the hidden blade. That's not a spoiler because it's practically the first thing that happens in the main quest. Everything opens up on all fronts after that. I'm playing this game like I want to play and when I am forced to get into melee it's WAY better than it was when I started out. I have sweet gear and timing counters and such...effective. I'm mostly stealthed and ranged. The Predator Bow is my favorite toy. ;)

I'm 27 hours of gameplay in, roughly 30 percent overall completion and I'm playing this like I would any other AC game, broadly speaking. Good story, crazy amount of exploration, nice side quests.... lots of good things here.

This game touches me in the right places. Loving it. Bayek is such a bad ass.
Impaling idiots with the spear is not getting old anytime soon.

This is another area of kudos: You get enough weapon variety and abilities across the boards that really cater to any play style.

They upped the RPG aspects enough that you can basically make Bayek what you want him to be. Super happy with it.

Man this game has me by the balls. I am loving it. I don’t even know which quests are main ones. I am running around exploring and unlike Witcher 3 I don’t know what is where. Question marks and quests only show up in 500 meter range. Just climbed a pyramid and the view was amazing. Then did some surfing on the pyramid to come down. Badassery to the max. Came down to a pack of hyenas. Killed them like a boss. Was attacked by vultures and downed them also. Called my camel for a ride to the quest I was supposed to be doing. lol.

Anyone who is not playing this game is a fucking moron.

the game is great but ubisoft are playing fucking games saying drm is not hitting cpu's hard. i just launched the game and sat at the menu and watched it eat up 100% of my cpu. never have i had this issue - not with witcher 3, bf1, nothing. despite how good the game is it makes me wish i never purchased it and will be way more cautious in the future with buying ubisoft games.
