Looking for a DFI lanparty SLI/Ultra mobo and full tower Lian Li case.Free + shipping
A local computer store is clearing out the back room and has loads of really classic computer hardware.
As I go thguh it ill be posting what I dont pinch here
If you pay shipping + associated fees, You can have (stuff)
AMD axd2800kv4d on MSI MS-6734 v1 with back plate - Un tested as I dont have any DDR ram.
If you are close to 96097 and can pick stuff up, there are also some very nice (classic) cases too.
Would hate to see all this great retro stuff hit the trash.
You can find a used 750ti for mere $50 anywhere. I sold mine few weeks ago for $55. Half Benny Franklin isn't that bad.I'm trying to throw a system together for a buddy going to school, and he's pretty broke. I got an old Phenom II x4 940 with a board and RAM, but no video card worth a spit to use in it.
Does anyone have a midrange PCIe video card that's like a GTX 660 or 750Ti kicking around so he can somewhat play modern games even on low settings?
I know it's probably a long shot.

i call dibs on dead board if you are planning to dump it
these sorts of things are a big gamble but yea.
I'm gonna sit it on my kitchen table (wood) to test it again, just to make sure its not somehow shorting out, but I'm pretty sure it's dead now. Never had trouble at least getting power to it before and this time, after a few boot loops it died for good, will not power up at all.
I had an old GA-EP45-DS3L which did the boot loop thing, and it turned out to be cosmic rays (I shit you not) that made it fail. It had dual BIOS chips and the backup BIOS had gotten corrupted. Basically whenever the board would check the secondary BIOS chip, the thing would instantly shut off and then enter a rapid boot loop until user intervention.
It took me three RMAs of Gigabyte telling me nothing was wrong and almost giving up on it, when I decided to flash the BIOS as a last ditch effort and pray it didn't shut off in the middle. I managed to dump both BIOS chips to disk beforehand and the re-flash succeeded, and the board started behaving properly again.
I did a comparison of the main and backup BIOS images in a hex editor and lo and behold, some bits in the backup bios had been mangled.
That sounds almost exactly like my issue, at least initially. Because the BIOS was all over the place. It's been unstable since the day I got it, and for a while the primary BIOS would always eventually corrupt and be overwritten by the backup BIOS. Changing a single setting in the BIOS would send it back to boot loops. Flashing both BIOS with a beta firmware sent to me by Gigabyte fixed the issue for a while. Lately the computer would just hard lockup, then go into boot loops on reboot. I'm assuming the motherboard is what's dead now and not any other components, but of course this board doesn't even have any diagnostics (no speaker, no lights, etc) so I can't really tell.

If it's an obsolete model, you've got a chance. For current model anything, you'll find ebay and amazon is flooded with fakes for almost any common part, and you'd barely even notice unless you saw an original:yeah thats why i was looking for a cheap original if i can find one
