Verizon is bringing back full-quality video streaming after snatching it away in August. The company said that it would offer the option for consumers to stream 4K quality video -- if they're willing to pay $10 extra a month. The option becomes available on Nov. 3.

The nation's largest wireless carrier by customers walked back its move from two months ago, when it introduced several new variants of its unlimited data offering -- but restricted video to only 720p quality. The cheapest version of the plan reduced video down to DVD quality. The carrier faced backlash from some consumers who complained about the quality cap.

So they can give you 4k and they already did for free but now require you to grease their palms in order to get it?.

I wish I could get in on that kind of action.

4K video on a phone screen............
4k on a phone screen is fine (assuming your phone has that level of resolution)...

you just want to see the screen 6" from your face... and you better be slightly nearsighted to have that level of focus.

Wow. Thank you Verizon. They are doing this for the benefit of the customers. See, companies can do good things because they want to! /s

I wish the ISP's would just deliver bits. That's all their job should be. I request bits, they just route them where they need to go.

Of course, that'd be forcing them to do something, so of course it's wrong. They need their freedom, too.... Free market and all that...

This is why I'm glad I didn't switch to their "new improved unlimited" plan. "Unlimited' my ass...

These guys are almost as bad as websites that have auto-play streaming video (unrelated to the article) that's not visible above the fold, leading to hurried scrolling to find the offender. *makes rude gesture in cnet's direction*
