Destiny 2

I put in a lot of hours yesterday, only took an extended break to make dinner when the GF got home from work. Level 20 but still doing side missions on the third planet, no upgrades yet to my light level or whatever. Very smooth all around, both in terms of performance and the launch in general. I turned up all settings but disabled depth of field, motion blur and I think they even had options for chromatic aberration and film grain which I disabled. FPS were great except for some spots on Titan, I was almost always at the refresh rate cap (tried the method linked above, capping my framerate with the config, could be just me but it made the game worse).

If there were an [H] clan I would definitely like to take part.

Some stuff makes me scratch my head though, like why am I level 20 and no Sparrow? I actually searched this last night and you don't get one until you beat the campaign (or randomly acquire one after hitting level 20, whichever happens first). Also I've really enjoyed the missions solo and the public events, but what about strike missions? I remember doing strike missions on every planet as I leveled up in Destiny 1, but so far I've had none here. Are they just keeping them all for the endgame?
 
to bad we cant move our characters over form the PS4. I have already wasted enough time getting to 270+. not sure I want to do it again.

Cross-platform would be nice. It would certainly extend the life of the game.

How many hours did you put in for 270+? I heard some people cleared that in a week on console but I don't play a whole lot normally.
 
I'm loving it! But this is my first Destiny experience, did they re-use assets from the first one ?

I'm at level 10 at the moment, and all good.

How do you join fireteams though ? Is it only through friends and/or clans ?

I am level 20, gear level 200ish not 270, still working on the campaign. I don't know how long it takes to get to gear level 270 or higher (does to just over 300 I believe), but plenty of people have said the campaign is 15-25 hours depending if you rush or take your time with side missions and such.
 
Make sure you do the heroic version of the public events. Much more XP when you're leveling up to 20 (almost a full level per heroic event). Also, if you've got all the planet's unlocked but still aren't level 20, check each Tuesday to see where Cayde's Flash point is. Farm public events on that planet because everyone who has unlocked Flashpoints will be there too, so you'll have plenty of help.

This is even more helpful once you start a 2nd and 3rd character. Power level to 20, equip that character with spare legendary and exotic guns and you've got a 270ish character damn quick. You can wait till you're level 20 and power level 270ish to finish the back half of the campaign.

I only got to level 6 last night, but what are you supposed to do with the lower level gear you replace? Are you just suppose to dismantle it or is their more to it that im missing?

This is my first time playing a destiny game.

Yes, dismantle them. Later on you want to keep your extra legendaries to level your exotics up.

World Events are where the good XP is without alot of running around the maps and questing almost level 11 now the spawn for the players just zapping into the Farm zone are crazy. You have like 20 people spawning in the same spot in the matter of 3 seconds.

I had the game lock up like 3 times not sure what the deal is right when I go back to orbit it freezes. It's probably link to my X-box controller more than anything I'm thinking because Gears of War 4 did the same thing.

Last night I noticed that the game seemed to freak out when I hit the left menu button on my controller to pull out my Ghost. I thought it hard locked, but it seemed to just freeze for about 5 seconds. It happened to me twice.
 
Also, use the fast travel liberally. If no public events are showing on the map just fast travel until one pops up, then fast travel to the region with the event. Typically when you finish one another will just be counting down in another region. Rinse and repeat.
 
More pointers... Each zone is instanced. If you find no one showing up to push an event to heroic, fast travel to the same spot until you see people there. If you're failing pushing to heroic because of dumbasses, fast travel and get a shot in on one that did.

Wait until you're level 20 and at 265 light to turn in the final quests... 265 is super easy to get to via public events. You want to save turn ins that can exceed 265 until you need them. Same with exotic weapon quests, in fact, save those for even later...

Context: I have 3 305 characters... Did it smoothly and easily.
 
Played Destiny 1 on the Xbox One and liked it. Destiny 2 on PC so far is better than the original. Still play with an Xbox One controller though, I like to kick back in my chair to play. A lot more content on release than the original.
 
I am really enjoying this game as much, if not more than the first Destiny. I would like to hopefully see some DLC that takes you back to locations from the first game.
 
I don't understand...Bungie says you will not be banned for using overlay tools, but aren't they locked out (except for ShadowPlay)?...I only played the beta but Afterburner would not load

I had ZERO last night and I played for like 5 hours straight. Today? The game has frozen on me like once per hour. I updated the drivers BEFORE starting the game too, no idea why all the lock ups.

Nice. I'm sitting at 215 right now and I've only played 8-9 hours so I'm pretty happy that it won't take too long to get raid ready. Honestly I just want to max out quick and then stop playing until the next content release. I have so many games on my radar right now I'm kinda glad this isn't a real MMO grind that takes serious time and effort.
 
I'm also having issues with the game locking up. Worked fine yesterday but today I've had it lock up when trying to exit and just now it locked up after a cut-scene.
 
Been playing the last few days at 4K Ultra (FXAA instead of SMAA, HDR on, and 105 FOV) settings and only obtaining 40 - 50 fps with a GeForce 1080Ti SLI setup. I am running in Fullscreen Windowed so I can capture the game in OBS. Framerate improves by a meager 5 fps with OBS disabled. Interestingly, if I go to MSI Afterburner while the game is running both GPU's are only being utilized at about 46%. CPU utilization hovers around the 40 - 50% mark with OBS running. Anything below about 43fps results in stuttering gameplay (Unless I use VSync Smooth). Ideas as to why GPU utilization is so low are appreciated. I also have set Destiny 2 to run at Maximum Performance versus Optimized in nvidia control panel. Specs below

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
Asus Crosshair VI Hero (1701 Bios)
Ryzen 7 1700X @ 3950MHz
16GB Corsair Dominator Ram @ 3466MHz
GeForce GTX 1080Ti SLI (388.00 driver)

Long/short: They had some cheating...banned those people...could be some overhshooting because there's some third play overlay questions/issues (this is happening with more games including glitches) ...they are unbanning the "overshot victims."
 
This might be a dumb question, but I'm now seeing a weird little text-message looking icon in the bottom right of the screen. It showed up once I finished the main prologue and now it's there in-game and in all of the menus. What does that mean and how to I access it?

I'm guessing there's no way to access that via the gamepad or menus? I don't really keep my keyboard that close to me most of the time.
 
What am I supposed to do with all my glimmer? I was maxed out at 99,999 but I can't figure out what it's for honestly. I spent half of it buying guns from the crucible vendor just to find out the hard way that those guns don't dismantle into weapon parts or whatever it is you turn in for reputation gains.

You'll need the glimmer to mod weapons and armor and to apply shaders.
 
So I noticed I can't adjust brightness setttings in-game when HDR mode is on. Rather, I can, but it doesn't make a difference. Anyone else?

I think that's par for HDR. You'll probably have to adjust it using your monitor. Brightness or Contrast.
