PSA: How to avoid insta ban in destiny 2.

lol get ready for the mass refund claims from all the major streamers. this is going to be hilarious on the PC side.

I am going to lay low and not stream using OBS for a while until people figure out what’s actually going on.

This is getting blown out of proportion. We have seen ZERO proof that any of this is actually happening. Activision / Bungie have said they are not doing this. I gamed all last night with Asus TweakUI running along with other hardware monitors on my second display and didn't have an issue.

I think the forums are plenty proof. There are people that are getting banned before playing the game during character creation. Something is off, glad I havent purchased it yet.

Same here. I played all night using MSi Afterburner and NZXT CAM without issues. No overlays were active.

Just looked at the forums and do not see any valid proof. I'm sure there is no way that they could have had wall hacks or any other type of hack tool on their PC, right? *rollseyes*

Does not seem to be as widespread as reported either.

I have EVGA XOC running but it won't display in game because they disabled overlays. I need it running though for my fan profile so my MSI FE card doesn't cook.

Hah. 1 more reason to pass on this trash.

This game looks really good they went all out with Pastel colors looks really nice the AI and variations is enough to piss off the pope. Level design is top notch for a FPS.

Got banned in the Beta and played less than 10 minutes. Still have no clue what caused it. I suspect it might be related to the Seagate or Western Digital portable hard-drive programs I have but Bungie says programs like that will not cause bans. Ridiculous as I held out for the PC version.

Bungie saying that it is done manually when flagged by their system

Some info on supported overlays and capture along with modes to use them in.

So the Reddit submission has been removed.

Is this about software you have on your PC and getting banned for having it running?

I believe people are getting banned but I'm also not sure most of those people can be trusted to give the full story...meaning they might be running overlays like MSI Afterburner etc but are also probably running some cheat/hack software as well

My mantra since Bungie fucked up the PC release of Halo 15 years ago. Instead they released it first on the Xbox. fuckers.

you can always find a reason to boycott a developer or game but my mantra is I like to play a good game...regardless of what they may have done 15 years ago...or 15 months ago

Wait didn't Bungie admit before Microsoft's acquisition it would have been a completely different, from the videos and screenshots I remember seeing also inferior, game?

Not to mention, a Mac game that Steve Jobs himself presented at an Apple conference? A lot changed after MSFT bought Bungie and moved them to Washington state.

I wonder if Windows 10's terrible game bar/DVR could be the culprit. I've seen several claims that the game was installed on a clean install of Windows 10 with nothing other than Windows, Blizzard launcher, and D2 installed. I think there were changes or features added to the game bar with the latest Fall Creators update.

I don't know that it would have been inferior - It was just different. From what I recall if I dig out my old issue of CGW was that it was going to kind-of be like the original concept for TF2 before TF2 became what it was / be like a space-y team based shooter. It could have very well been successful in that format at the time.

Microsoft picked it up and then basically just wanted a console FPS - Not a larger scale online team based shooter like TF/Battlefield.

Here's the old article I vaguely remember - http://halo.bungie.org/pressscans/display.html?scan=cgw1199

I like to think it would have been a larger game more on the scale of the original battlefields or even Planetside but would have had a singleplayer mode along with a team based multiplayer mode.

That's the PC Gamer article I also remember.

Frankly I think it would have been a better game on the PC/Mac. Sure, Halo as it came to be on the console is also an important and memorable game, but that's really only because it really was the first big game to do multiplayer FPS on the console so well.

The poison of the pc gaming culture lead me to adopt the attitude of “Just Play”

Don’t care where or what platform, Just Play. :)

I think this is all so much garbage, frankly I don't trust random people on the internet and I believe the Bungie response. Let's take a look at this thread, has anyone been banned? No?

I stopped caring about professional game reviews quite some time ago. I've stopped caring about the internet response for the most part now too because of shit like this. I'm glad people got banned, and I sure as hell don't believe anyone who says this is a problem in the slightest let alone a widespread problem.

It's the nature of the internet. Destiny 2 has a lot going against it, and some of it is definitely deserved, so the general hive mind is to be negative towards it. Thus, one person gets banned, we all get banned.

And as others have already stated, it's not that someone has an aimbot going. It has to be OBS or Afterburner, or Shadowplay. Because obviously, a cheater is going to admit that they're cheating, rather than trying to deny it.

So people WERE banned in error...but not because of third-party utilities. But bans are a "manual process after investigation"...

Wat?

4 people were banned in error from the beta. So you had an employee who just didn't know what to look for. Now, yes, it's true that they can and will make mistakes, but if the reddit thread was correct on how many people were getting banned, that scares me more about the honesty of redditors.

No issues on this end and I'm on the Fall CU with the Game Bar up and running. Doesn't mean it's not the issue, but it's not universally a problem.

The 4 people in beta thing was stated pre-update, so to me that says they identified more users who were wrongly banned. I guess we'll see.

Yeah, kinda makes me think those claiming it were less than truthful and just throwing ideas out.

I'm very happy with the Halo we got versus the Halo they were planning on before the MS purchase. Halo: CE was still an amazing game when it came to the PC. Hell, people are still playing Custom Edition. Halo: CE was a masterpiece. I'd easily rank it as one of my favorite shooters of all time.
