64% of Americans Now Own an Apple Product

So you pay $100/year for the "privilege"of doing the same thing I just did on my Samsung galaxy for free?

What a wonderful country you live in, led by El Dictator Tim Cook.

You know why there's a HEALTHY Apple jailbreak community? Its because of "gifts" like this that you pay $100 for.

It’s whoever made the App required the developer account, not the installer.

I'm an independent IT consultant, I work for myself.
So I HAVE to be tech savvy.

As I said before, proud member of the 36%.
I do have to support them, but I don't own any Apple devices of any kind.

If Rush Limbaugh gave me the latest, hottest new iPhone, I'd sell it on eBay
and keep using my cheap LG Android.

I had an iPod Mini, and an iPod Touch several years ago. Cool gear, but the constant fighting to just get the devices working on Windows drove me nuts. At the time a Sanza Clip was just sooooo much easier to deal with. Drag and drop. Not rocket science. And Apple fanatics still have to deal with jumping through hoops just to get shit done.

Whatever.

I don't use Apple products because they simply do not meet my needs/wants, not because I hate Apple. They are really only used as social status symbol these days, and with computers, social status is definitely I don't worry over because the stuff I do on my PC already completely lack a social status anyway, and no one will see my phone/PC for anywhere near the amount of time as I would be using it, so I do not see the appeal of gimping myself on performance just to appease the few people who will look at my phone's back for all of 3 seconds.

If people judge me based on the phone I use, then they are not going to be worth my time.

I will also say that unless you've used a Pixel or Nexus device, that you really don't have a legit argument against Android.

I mean that isn't hard when you consider ipods as well. I have an old generation nano because frankly even with iTunes being a pile of shit there still isn't a better mp3 player at that size. Mine the one that isn't much bigger than a few quarters.

Is there a RESIST-APPLE group?
I will also say that unless you've used a Pixel or Nexus device, that you really don't have a legit argument against Android.

This is my argument as well. Over the years ive had multiple "stock" android devices and the user experience has always been much higher then other flagship android phones. I am currently using an LG G5 right now which is a nice device, but i cannot stand all the AT&T / Tmobile or LG apps that you have to root to uninstall.

I mainly use my portable devices for music, usually hi-res flac stuff at that, and actual phone calls. On the road I used BT to pair w/ a car stereo and at home would plug in directly(at first analog but now USB on my Onkyo TX-646). For a time I had been considering various ipods until I learned about the proprietary audio formats they used at the time. That counted as a major strike against. The next thing that tempted me was how many non-apple devices(cars/home theater combos/etc) started providing ipod/iphone docks/jacks. I thought pretty cool until I learned that Apple had a way of changing these every year or two thus rendering the port useless for anything beyond the model you bought it for. Crap like that is why I'll never own one, unless they change(yeah right). At this point the prices are so outrageous it's not even a consideration anymore even though I like lightning port and most of those other quirks are gone. Used to respect them for security but lately they're dropping the ball constantly. I have friends and family members who've loved their 4s and 6s models but that's about as much credit as I'll give 'em anymore.

This. Android is for poors and irrational Apple haters. And even most of the poors will tell you they wish they could afford an iPhone.

Nope, I just simply will not buy a $600+ phone. (No, the iPhone SE is just too small for me.) The poors comment is just plain....... (Anything I could say here after this could get me banned.)

And what apps can you possibly need? I've found everything I need in the Apple App Store so for me (and a good majority of other people) there just isn't a need. We're quite happy getting our apps from the App Store.

And as for Android users, 95% of people don't side load. And besides, sideloading presents security issues; better to leave that disabled.

I'm going on 20 years as Network Engineer and have had to support everything from NT 3.51 to BSD to every variation of SBS ( SBS might be the worst product MS ever put out in any variation of it). I'm not big on the specs in the past few years of Apple products so have no desire for me to have one other than an Ipad.

My two kids each have ipads , and there's zero way to convince me or them that an Android tablet of any flavor would be better for them from gaming to just stability.

More importantly , I always buy my wife a Macbook Pro every 4-5 years , and reason being , I can toss it to her , load up GIMP , and she's good for 4-5 years. Nothing on windows compares (to her ) for iphoto when it comes to her bazillion of kid/family pics and organizing , but the biggest part is zero issues (on her third Macbook Pro now ) for spyware or wiping it to fix slowdowns.

I have to wipe clients computers , fix servers , routers , and god knows what else daily , last thing I want to do is worry about a link clicked on , or this or that slowing down dramatically just because all all the shit that gets installed and updated.

They aren't perfect by any means , but I gladly pay 1500 -1700 each 4 years or so to not have to worry about that sort of thing for her. (And daily I get her asking questions about her friends computer they said isn't working , hijacked , or just all around dicked up , and it's always a POS cheapo 500 dollar windows machine they bought.

For me ? No desire to pay what it costs anymore for a slightly slower video card even at the top end for Macbook Pros , but anyone with kids , family members etc you don;'t want to worry about , the price is well worth the less trouble.

You think a software update made a difference?
On a hardware forum, I would think you know better than that.
When two or more critical security vulnerabilities are discovered each year, I do appreciate that my two year old phone still gets security patches. The new features are a bonus.

I don't yet, but am thinking about an iPhone SE. The others are just too big and expensive. Still can't find a good reason to spend the money on a "smart" phone when my flip phone does everything I need.

Except that didn't work in the early days of computing before everyone had a lifetime of experience with computing devices, so I don't think it will be a good long-term strategy for them now. Need to keep doing what Jobs did so excellently, and Cook fails at - make people really want it!
Been thinking the same way. I've been holding on the my flip phone forever, but it's about to the point I need to seriously consider something new, and the iPhone SE is at the top of my list. I'd buy a Samsung flip smartphone without question if they sold them in the US.

I will also say that unless you've used a Pixel or Nexus device, that you really don't have a legit argument against Android.

I have owned the Nexus S, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, and the Pixel XL and I do have to agree that those devices offer the most performant Android experience. However, I don't necessarily think that they offer the "best" experience or the nicest looking phones for everyone. I also won't get into the reliability issues I have had with various direct from Google phones.

I currently own the S8+ which has a lot of Touchwiz garbage, but also has some really nice features that are not easily available on the stock Google devices. I was contemplating the Pixel 2 XL and even had a preorder down for one, but the price was just high enough for me to think twice about it and cancel it.

I am tempted to try the iPhone X as the iPad Pro I received as a gift is far smoother than any Android phone I have used. You also have to consider the direction Google is heading and that the Pixel 2 XL is damn near the same cost for what appears to be an inferior phone (to the S8 and X). I have not tried an iPhone since the 4S, but it might be time for a change of landscape if I am feeling adventurous.

Although the S8 doesn't offer vanilla Android experience I do feel it's the best Samsung has offered so far. Only devices better IMO were the S4 and older that didn't have locked bootloaders (ATT).

My garage has quite a few ancient Macintosh computers in it, including several small 80's all-in-one Macintosh computers, Several pre and post power-Mac desktop computers from the 90's, and the newest being a CRT iMac from ~1999 that my grandma used at one point. People sometimes forget how popular Macintosh computers were in the 80's and 90's and many people still have one of those computers collecting dust and breeding spiders in their garage.

How many people are being reported as owning several "Apple products" who in fact don't have a single apple product from the 21st century? Of course the article is framed to give the illusion that everyone has iphones and ipads all over their house.

I suppose the exact questions asked on the survey would be needed to help identify what they were actually asking. However, I have 2 Mac PRO's 2 Ipads, 3 Iphones and 2 Ipod Touches running around. (plus one ancient apple 2C) yet I have custom built my main gaming PC since 1994. I have never even considered truly gaming on one of my Macs.
