Hey all,

I am a photographer (www.madheiress.com) and have very strangely lost a number of photo shoots backed up across 3 different drives. I am not sure how that happened. It's possible that when I was deleting what I thought were backed up files in Capture One software, I was actually deleting the original files themselves.

Anyway, the files are gone, and I'd very much like to get them back. I'm not sure when this occurred...sometime within the last few weeks, I think.

Any and all advice for recovering the files off of at least one of my drives would be most welcome. Like, is it possible to recover by rolling back a drive's state, if that's possible?

Many thanks!

Use an undelete program? The files are usually still there unless you have written to the disk.(possible)

OK will investigate undelete programs, thanks. Are there any you'd recommend? I'm using Windows 10.

Windows has a built in filesystem snapshot system. You can get the files back provided that the snapshot from a few weeks ago hasn't been deleted yet (there's a maximum amount of space that snapshots will use, so old snapshots eventually get deleted). This assumes that the feature is enabled...which it probably is by default for your OS drive, but maybe not other drives.

To access deleted/old files, open File Explorer, open properties for the relevant directory, and select the Previous Versions tab.

try "easeus data recovery" or "get data back" if the previous version thing doesn't work.
