I surfed porn on my mom's work phone using a Tor android browser. She just texted me and told me that she received a "notification" that she visited an adult website.

I guess everything was logged at the Work / ISP level, which makes me wonder what the Tor browser is even for?

Da fuq are you using your madre's phone let alone using it to tug one out to lord-knows-what porn sites? I mean she has to put that jizz stained device next to her ears, mouth, and touch it day in and day out.

Have you considered they may have an app or two tracking phone activity on the actual device?

I dunno 3 weeks in the Caribbean islands, with little to do other than sit around the house and sweat a lot and play "The Elder Scrolls Legends" on her phone. I mean... just imagine the blue balls. It was on Spankbang it wasn't some back-alley porn site. Look... I went to Pinterest first but it just wasn't doing it for me and the allure...

My mom thinks it's a virus ( like the Nigerian Prince type emails ). She's a frigid nurse and would shit the bed if she found out.

I only went on the site twice and scrubbed the history from the phone and even from... ( to my embarrassment, I typed the letters 'sp' one time and the phone dictionary asked me if I wanted "Spankbang dot com", so I looked up how to erase words from the built-in phone dictionary ).

Oh Lord, someone hide me under their bed until this all blows over. I suck at lying.

Ah.. wait, what? It's the Caribbean.. I would imagine there were a few things to do wander around and do.. well.. I guess unless you live there and then you would just use your own PC to dribble out failed future heirs.

*shrug* So it goes.

Regardless - yeah.. either it wasn't set up right and/or they just have monitoring software on the actual device.

Oh dude you can't really walk anywhere, it's a third world country ( Trinidad ). People rape and murder women in back alleys. Some robbers dressed up in navy blue uniforms, wore tactical vests, pretended to be the police and kidnapped a businessman for ransom.

We were driving down the street, looking for fast food joints that sell shrimp. My aunt said there are a lot of shootings around the area that we were driving in ( we drove past a casino with gaudy flashing lights ). I said, "Um... there's a police station right next to the casino - there are shootings next to a police station?" She said, "Yes - the criminals wait for the police to get food etc.".

My cousin said that several years ago, there was a serial kidnap ring, she thought that it was an inside job ( workers inside the bank ) because the kidnappers knew everything about the targets, in terms of financial data.

The beaches were really nice, especially the Tobago beach ( a nearby island ). I got sunburned in a little over 30 minutes. My shoulders turned pink like a lobster. 33 Celcius. I would pass out from the heat in the afternoon.

Well... I knew that there was a GPS tracker that I couldn't turn off ( they use it to figure out where the nurse is, since she does district nursing ( house-to-house calls ). I didn't consider hidden apps. My mom's a nurse, not a hitman. :D

It's a company device. Unless it's yours assume someone wants to keep tabs on it.

My general stance on this:

Yeah I know. I hoped that the Tor browser would save me at the time. I used Orbot with Orfox for Android, from the Google Play store. # Feels Bad Man.

I figured that if I got caught, the same adult website only twice in 3 weeks wouldn't look too suspicious. I mean... pop-ups from rogue websites happen... Am I right? Sounds plausible?

Go get a hooker instead

Oh jeez dude, LOL I was staying with family, in their house. My mom almost caught me spanking the monkey 11pm at night. # awkward since I turned 42 on Oct 3rd. I didn't have any local currency, apparently the country is so backwards that North American banks won't even give you currency ( so my mother says, I'm skeptical and confused ).

This has to be a troll post...

you are 42. and used your mom's work phone to visit a porn site while on a vacation she probably paid for, and you are asking some other adult here to hide you under their bed because you suck at lying?

Get out a' here! You for real?

Do something with your life. Find Purpose. Stop sucking.

For the record - her work, since they are monitoring - won't think it's a pop-up. Corporate America has these things called proxies. We can tell everywhere a phone goes, and how long it goes there. You may just get your mom fired from her job. good job.

Well she did pay for the vacation. As for purpose, we're in a global extinction scenario, due to runaway climate change so things like "purpose" and "existential meaning" are just LOL.

Definitely trolling. Well played.

I think you are being overly dramatic. When was the last time somone was fired for watching porn while on vacation?

I think you are being overly dramatic. When was the last time someone was fired for watching porn while on vacation?

Fired in a global shortage of RNs.

We fire people for watching porn in the corporation I work. We have done it many times. Phones or PCs - doesn't matter. We have a strict user agreement policy which spells out do nots - and that's one of them. Fired --- especially if they try to subterfuge our controls (like using Tor to view porn).
I don't make the rules, but I do the catching - since I work in Information Security. Yes - they know exactly what is done on your work phone. (unless they use a secure container for corporate stuff -- and don't care about the personal stuff).

Sure at work... not on vacation.

I'm not sure why I'm still responding to this thread - but yes --- of course on vacation. If it's a work phone that policy applies - doesn't matter if you are at work or home or vacation.

But my corporate policies are not your mom's workplace corporate policies. I don't have any idea what a hospital's corporate user agreement states.

What tends to happen if an unauthorized user uses the phone? ( I mean... if she says that she lent the phone to a family member? ).

Quit reading at 42 years old...

Pathetic.

But don't be too insulted.

I, like your mom, am a frigid RN.

Wow, that makes us have a lot in common.

Perhaps she is not as frigid as you think.

That reminds me, pretty sure rules call for pics of mom.

Doh... This aint GenMay. Sure seems like a GM thread though. amiright??

When I saw this, my "This can't be serious" alarm went off. If this was a real question, consider that you just put your mom's employment and your room and board supply at risk for some nudie pics. A lot of employers have a no tolerance policy for porn surfing with company gear on company bandwidth. And yes, in today's frequent security breach environment, they probably do have one or more things monitoring installed apps and net usage. It is quite possible their security dept has a full report on everything you did, saw and downloaded.

What you consider a little "innocent porn" some CEO and BOD could consider as a publicity nightmare. They won't have any problem sacrificing a RN to preserve their own jobs.

So 42 years old with 12 year old maturity.
Your story is appropriate for a 12 year old, not a 42 year old.

Did mommy buy you candy and a toy on your vacation?

Its so hard for me not to insult you, i mean its REALLY hard. So if its a work phone guess who controls the phone? I'll give you a hint, its not you and its not your mom.

I'm going to pretend the OP is completely serious...

Don't count on the RN thing to save a job - I work in the IT department of a national medical organization and we have fired RN's for surfing for porn on company devices (even on personal time and using a personal wifi Internet connection instead of mobile data). Doesn't matter who did it, the employee is responsible for the device. Giving away the unlock password to non-employees is also a firable offense.

Tor browser isn't enough, even a VPN on top of that isn't enough because if the company is serious (and mine is) they can monitor the phone for such activities. We can even have the phone send screenshots to a central server if suspicious activity is detected.

And before you claim violation of privacy, it is a *COMPANY-OWNED* device - where I am we are required *BY LAW* to do such oversight. I know what we paid to get that capability, it would have been cheaper to let everyone surf for porn. if it wasn't for the fact the entire telecom department didn't want to go to prison for 5 years for failing to monitor devices that are transmitting personal medical data we probably wouldn't have gotten the servers in the first place.

Tor isn't the problem - *YOU* are the problem. Buy a cheap pair of binoculars and spank your monkey eyeing bikini babes on the beach. Try to remember RN's are professionals and they are tracked - if your mom gets fired for data security violations she is going to have a real problem getting another job.

What is this thread even

The last time I used Tor was years ago ( it was one time and it was slow as f*, even on a desktop ) and somehow I completely forgot about .onion sites. I'm not even sure if I used Tor correctly the first time, which means that my ISP probably has logs of my desktop Tor searches.

The destination is unencrypted unless it's a .onion site ( and from what I read HTTPS & SSL ). Woops.

I'm curious about how people in China access un-indexed, clearnet websites via Tor, given that VPNs are being banned.

I've been having sleepless nights. I feel really sick. I'll probably get dis-owned if this goes south.

Yeah step 1) use a clean device: https://tails.boum.org/doc/about/warning/
