8700K @ Newegg appears to be sold out, hope you all got yours.
They sure sold like hotcakes, I've been charged so I'm pretty sure I'm getting mine. I had a backup plan of getting the 8700 since the turbo is only 100mhz off and it's a 65W TDP which is pretty nice being hex core. Anyway now to hunt down an ITX board!

What they usually do is list stuff higher then apply a fake "sale" which brings the price down to where it belongs.

Aren't the only ones doing that. I saw an eBay retailer listing the 7900k as $1200 then offering a ~20% discount and selling to $950.

if i cant get 6cores 5ghz at a decent voltage like under 1.3 im gonna be pissed

Expectations are set pretty high if so, I mean a 7700K requires typically like 1.32 - 1.36v for 5GHz. :p With 2 more cores it won't be easier to reach 5GHz even with a more mature process, 1.32v @ 5GHz would be superb already provided it doesn't run hot like a finnish sauna.

For someone like me who runs my i5-4670K at 4.3GHz I'd face a clock speed upgrade + core upgrade in either case. :) That's already ~30% IPC increase if assuming 8700K @ 5GHz clock and obviously a lot more performance advantage in optimal heavy threaded tasks scenarios (up to ~70%) so yea finally a decent CPU upgrade.

Well, I set up an alert at nowinstock for the 8700k at Newegg. Still mad they released them at such an odd time. Hopefully, Amazon will put them up soon.

Unless your in a huge rush, you might want to wait a week or two till things settle down for the new chips. Often the first few days you get gouged for it.

Thank youuuuu. Good thing I need the 8700 for this build. That K tax is high.
That's Newegg prices. The RCP difference between the K and non-K is 18.5%, while Newegg at those prices is 21%. I'd wait until the K price settles down to $359, or wait for other retailers to get stock. The first few weeks for new hardware are always rough.

Yep i have to wait for the Apex to become available anyways so figure on snagging a cpu whenver i can get one at a fair price locally while i wait for Apex's to get in stock somewhere.

So will my Hyper 2122 EVO work with this thing? I know that isn't very [H] but I have a water cooling system but my case it's big enough.

Probably been mentioned already but looks like tthe 8600K and 8700K are sold out.

like this
8600k was still in stock on the egg a few hours ago but yeah not surprised it didn't last much longer than the 8700k

Well if this goes anything like the Broadwell release last year it won't be good the I-7 Broadwell that replaced Haswell but they Intel just jumped to Skylake for some reason.

Or was that two years ago already?

It's not even supposed to be available for sale until tomorrow.

Broadwell desktop processors were never available at volume, probably due to the new process (first CPU from Intel on 14nm). It's also probably why Intel is only doing mobile parts with Cannon Lake. Both Broadwell and Skylake were released in 2015.

When do these officially release? Microcenter doesnt even have them listed.

Edit.. nevermind I see Armenius' poat right above mine. He said tomorrow.

I have two builds I'm doing. One is very limited by CPU TDP due to a limitation of a 38mm CPU heatsink (L9i) while also being as quiet as possible. It's a CUDA Premier small form factor machine using a case of only 3.5L, that will also be used for occasional HFR gaming. I was going to undervolt a 8700k but people had very mixed success with that last gen. So I picked up the 8700 base for that. I honestly would have picked up the 8700T if it had launched.

My second build will use the 8700K but it's not an immediate need, so I'm tempted to see what happens with the Z390. That's just a gaming machine that is currently running a 6700k at 4.6GHZ with a 980TI at 1.5 GHZ.

I'm going to be using that same Noctua cooler and I think you could get away in gaming with a slight overclock. I personally am probably going to run it at 4Ghz on all 6 cores. I'm considering disabling some cores(and hyperthreading) and going to 5ghz for emulation. If I couldn't get my hands on the 8700K, I would have gotten the 8700 because the differences aren't much aside the unlocked multiplier and the 500mhz base jump.

It'll work, but it won't work very well. Might want to upgrade to something a little beefier, like a Scythe Mugen 5 or a Shadow Rock Slim. Both can be found for about $45 and will fit where the 212 Evo will.

people on reddit are saying newegg told them it was a mistake but their orders will get shipped out tomorrow on official launch day, also another guy who knows someone at a microcenter asked and was told they have 10 of each K SKU on hand for tomorrows launch and gave him a really out of line list price of like 499 for the 8700k but they must be tripping or something.

So i've got a guy in the UK retail scene saying the stock for Coffeelake is worse the Skylake's launch...
