Forza Motorsport 7 thread

Does anyone know if Forza has more detailed/nerdy car specs or descriptions somewhere, like engine capacity/type and where it's mounted, etc? I know I could just Wikipedia but is there anything like that in-game?

It runs perfect for me btw, unlike the Forza Horizon 3 demo which had stuttering and dips into the 40FPS range. I never tried the full FH3 because of the random issues people had but so far so good with FM7. In the benchmark I'm averaging 124FPS @ 1080p.
Not since Forza 4, unfortunately. The first 2 games were the best in that aspect. Ever since the second game they have been taking more and more information away from us until we reached this point.

I thought Forza Vista had some of that info and when you go to do engine swaps it should show you the engine size and layout. The issue I have is they've gone to more generic engine swaps when before they had actual engine models from that manufacturer that you swapped in.

Did not know that.

Anyone find out if they fixed the stock gearing in the Focus ST, finally?

I'm still waiting for Amazon to get me the game, for some reason I like having the physical copy, probably because I have all of them thus far.

It looks like they dropped the reward credits this week, guess since they added Tier 12 they need to bump everything down a notch.

Ja, I am only tier 10 since I don't play the Horizons as much as I do the main games. So you'll see my lowly "10" driver badge if you race against my drivatar. Good luck with that, by the way. I've been setting top 10 leaderboard times left and right :smug:.

Nice, well Amazon is quoting me the 10th, so you'll probably be halfway through the grind by then but I'll try to catch up.

AFAIK, Windows store doesn't support resume of downloads, am I right?

Well if it does it was poorly attempted when I installed Gears of War 4, that shit took soooo many tries.

On another note, as a new Civic Type R owner I soooo hope they have it in this game.

So far Forza 7 is one of, if not the worst, PC launch title I've played. It is nearly unplayable on the PC for me. I experience random game crashes anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours in game. It likes to strike on the last lap of a race. Menu's lag, but I can deal with this. The biggest, and worst bug of them all is the fact that 9/10 times that I exit the game I have to restart my PC to use it. Almost always the whole operating system lags upon exit of Forza 7. I've tried to figure out the root cause of this, but haven't gotten anywhere since it is nigh impossible to hunt for it with the system lagging. I've tested with game mode off, game mode on, neither of those have any effect. I'm not running any broadcasting software, no monitoring software, no overclocking software. Game seems to crash even quicker if the resolution is cranked to 200%.

Windows 10
Ryzen 7 1700X @ 4.0GHz
Asus Crosshair 6 Hero
16GB Corsair Dominator @ 3200MHz (The Stilt's Fast timings)
GeForce GTX 1080Ti x2
Tested with both 385.69 and 385.41

The videos are a little gittery for me, get some framerate drops here and there but so far just playing with everything at max.

The new CTR will be in one of the upcoming car packs I'm sure.

I sure hope so.

I just finished the first 4 hot hatch races, really happy with this game so far! My only complaint is that you don't get additional rewards for having assists turned off, only for having more difficult opponents. I liked how in previous games you totally control how much extra experience or points or whatever you get for customizing your assists.

So far playing with a controller and manual trans w/ clutch, above average opponents, normal streering simulation damage, braking line only.. abs and traction control will go soon.

There are quite a few upset people over at the official forza forums. Homologation and the effects it has had upon the game as well as VIP rewards being less than normal seem to be the biggest issues people have right now. I'm not going to sweat the $40 price difference between regular and ultimate editions, but I agree the VIP change is rather silly. With VIP in FH3 I received double credits on wheelspins, every level up, and I was level 400ish so that is a lot of double wheel spins. FM7 VIP is terrible in comparison.

Sorry your game is giving you such trouble RaptormanUSMC. I'd say it looks like this is overall a better launch than FH3 in terms day 1 stability and performance but no launch is completely smooth it seems. I had a game crash within the first hour, and then I had my PC hard lock 3 or so times over a good long play session. Backed off my CPU overclock from 4.6 to 4.4 and it no hard lock since. Still, don't know why this CPU overclock could seem stable for however long I've had it and now apparently Forza 7 pushes it to the limit. I think I will reseat my CPU heatsink in the near future.

I have just about all assists turned off but I need the brake line and I can't do simulation damage, don't care for it even though I don't play bumper cars. I've also been going back and forth between Normal and Simulation steering. It's fun with the wheel but tough for me. I'd like to try a little multiplayer, I'd be just happy to have a clean race because I sure as hell won't be on top of the podium.

I wish it were as simple as a cpu overclock for me, but it appears to be some kind of graphical issue. I've checked my error codes and error lights on my C6H each crash/lock-up and it appears to be operating normally.

Well even though there are reports of issues, and I myself had huge problems with FH3, I'm giving the PC version a go... should take me 3-5 nights of downloading to get it, but I'll be giving a try...... eventually. lol

Working well for me on PC. My only complaint is the multiplayer again...how do you avoid races with those people who just love to ram into everyone at every turn. Especially the first turn.

I can not get the game to load without crashing. Takes two or three shots at it to get to start . But the big problem is I can’t get my pedals to work . Using a fanatec csw2.5 and csp v3. I have the pedals plugged straight into usb . Every other game I have tried they work just fine iracing , AC , race room , automobilsta , rfactor 2 and pcars 1. Go to configure pedals click on set gas or brake push the pedal and nothing . Messed with the fanatec driver and same results , nothing. If doesn’t work with a main steam wheel setup I can only imagine the aggravation a accuforce , OSW or Bodnar owner will have . So for me the game is complete crap and waste of money. I don’t want to jump through hoops to get it work . And shouldn’t have to with the wheel I am using . Hell my wheel is the Forza Motorsport edition lol . And yes using the latest fanatec driver even tried the older ones that are available. And windows is up to date and nvidia driver also. If this was on steam I would have asked for refund .

Get a refund from the MSFT store.

Fixed my crashing issue. Had to reset all in game graphics settings, set my resolution, choose Ultra preset and leave all Advanced Options on Dynamic. Played for several hours today no crashes.
Still have problems with the task bar, and start menu not loading correctly after quitting the game without restarting. No idea how to fix that issue so far.

Im not gonna lie im pretty pissed and disappointed. Not because i got the Ultimate edition and that in itself is a borderline scam. Now the visuals are better but i have seen it compared with older versions showing the texture is actually less quality. The sounds are alot better and the way the cars feel as purchased from the dealer are awesome and pretty accurately represent the cars characteristics. However the moment you modify them that is all lost and the cars go back to feeling exactly how they have in all previous games. I feel like Homologation forces you to play with the cars unmodified/lightly modified so that you dont immediately notice this. I feel like the way single player was designed as a whole is incredibly stupid and that its built around microtransactions. Stability is very questionable. Ive had probably 10-12 crash to desktops over the course of this weekend. Only one of them was on the last lap of a race. About half of the crashes are in the menus. The other half are the menus before you are about to start a race. I will likely expand on this as i get more time in the game but im kind of starting to think this will be a game i stop playing quickly and circle back to it in a month or two.

This is T10s first production PC Title. So i feel like i should cut them some slack but at the same time most of my gripes are things that should have been addressed in previous titles. Ive had way more fun with a couple of their previous titles.

Hopefully KazeoHin shows us the video of him eating the hat. That will make me feel somewhat better.

I would check the stability of your system.. It's a fairly CPU demanding game, and if you're overclocked it'll bring out the problems. I remember having what I thought was a stable overclock on my 5820k - But Battlefield 1 ended up crashing all the time.

Try doing what I did. All advanced options to Dynamic and set just your screen resolution and detail quality (Mine is Ultra). No crashes since doing this.
That makes the game run shittier.

Currently im faced with a bigger problem. When doing the 70s Formula race i have to pick between Nicki Laudas car or James Hunts car. I cannot decide lol

I don't understand this. I'm halfway through the career doing long races and I have never felt the need to buy any loot crates. I was swimming in credits last night, though, so I decided to try my hand at getting some legendary driver gear so I could also get progress toward the achievements for getting them. I bought 6 of the lucky gear crates and one legendary car crate. Given that experience with the RNG I'll probably only buy 1 or 2 a week going forward. And I'll continue never spending a penny of my real money on any of this junk.

The only technical issue i ran into was the game crashing after asking you to hit "enter" or "A". Thats a problem with the engine not liking MSI Afterburner/ RivaTuner's hooks for DX12. Same problem was in FH3, but it got fixed in RivaTuner. I kill afterburner, get through the load screen and hit "A" or "Enter" and then tab out to re-open afterburner to get my videocard OC back, tab back to game.

Definitely have seen load screen video stuttering, but in game it's been pretty flawless. I went for the Ultimate Edition and got some nice swag, but they are definitely being stingy on credits. i think about an hour into FH3 I had a million credits due to the VIP lottos..

My favorite car so far is the MX-5 Super20...well worth the money and tons of fun. I enjoyed the Civic Type R as well, picked that as my initial "free" car.

you can just adjust the D3D hook options in the overlay.. thats how i fixed it.

Its not the stability of my system lol. My CPU isnt overclocked.

then update your signature..

I left the game running yesterday on the test airfield track with the Ram FE doing the 30 second timed race crap. Racked up a ton of levels while doing things around the house and periodically checking the game to kick off another "race". I've got hardly any money in game but at least I have of cars now. I think I may have overdone it as I am now tier 16 or 17.

Did a few 50 lap races with the Nissan FE on the Daytona tri oval. Very easy, kind of boring I suppose, but a good way to earn credits using the VIP mod boosters. Due to the limited nature of the VIP stuff this time around I definitely feel compelled to maximize their usage.

No buying loot crates here either. It reminds me of purchasing Wheel Spins in FH3, never did that either. Will there be cars that are only obtainable through loot crates?

I bought that car too, fun and easy to drive. I remember I raced the hell out of a MX-5 or Miata type car early on in FM5, it was one of the only cars I could drive well when switching over from gamepad to a wheel.

SCUF releasing a GT2 RS themed controller that costs as much as a good entry-level steering wheel...

Looking at the Car Collection it looks like there are quite a few notable cars that may be locked behind the loot crate bullshit. Or you have to wait for the Specialty Dealer to cycle through. It includes cars like the Veyron and GT350.

Well I just got the game downloaded and installed, the first couple of intro races went well (silky smooth and looked amazing) then CTD during the GTR @ Suzuka race.... what the fucking fuck.

Yep.

Seriously though, what's even the point of being able to modify cars if you can't race with em x( x( x(

I feel like I'm gonna get bored with this game real fast because of that. Half the fun for me is modifying them. I miss just having to keep a car under a certain class, B, A, S, etc...

Im starting to come around on the homologation. I dont think every race should be like this though. Still include the class rated racing from FM4 along with the homologation races. Im hoping once i get to a certain point it unlocks the other half of the races.
