Paint.NET Is Now Available in the Windows Store

Unless you shut off the ability to install programs except from the store
Which I eventually see is going to happen. Look at Android, they encourage you to get your apps only from the Google Play Store and as for iOS you can only get your apps from the App Store. Both Android and iOS have a far better security track record than Windows has had.

I love Paint.NET. Haven't donated in quite a few years. Might very well buy it from the Windows Store just to help support them. (And hopefully help boost their ranking in the store and get them more paying customers.)

It already is happening - the new "consumer" branch of Windows will be Windows-Store-apps-only.

Yeah good luck with that.

Btw Microsoft just abandoned Groove today.

"Additionally, Microsoft will stop selling music from the Windows Store." The software giant said, however, that it would continue to sell movies, TV, and ebook content from the store.

Aka the list of things to go next. This is why one shouldn't spend a second of time in the store, let alone buy anything. MS simply cant be trusted to have that stuff available tomorrow.

The slow erosion to tech dinosaur IBM retirement status continues
