Rockstar has released a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, which is due out Spring 2018: starring a new character named Arthur Morgan and set before the events of the first game, we get our first glimpse at Young Dutch and his merry band of outlaws, which includes the protagonist. Presumably, we’ll also see Young John Marston and many other returning characters from the first Red Dead Redemption.

The all-new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight, and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive. Coming Spring 2018 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.

prequels are almost as bad a reboots... I just can't get excited going back in time, I'd rather see a new character, take a risk... but if this game is half as fun as RDR1 then I'm sure it'll do fine.

This is 2018's GOTY. I'd actually degrade myself to buying a Xbone X One XX just to play this game.

RDR still in my Top3 of all time. Can't believe it'll be 8 years since RDR when 2 launches probably in May.

No PC release with this one either I take it?

I believe there will be. I think the reason RDR wasn't released on PC was because they didn't expect the game to have as big an audience as it ended up having, and then the Rockstar studios were busy working on new projects and didn't want to allocate time to making a PC version for RDR.

At this point, there's no doubt that the PC audience for an RDR game, or a Rockstar open world game is massive - probably larger than the audience for any single console platform.

But, Rockstar have a tradition of releasing the PC version for their games 6 months - a full year after their games' console release. This has been how every RS North PC version release has been handled since Grand Theft Auto 3 released in October 2001 for PS2, and then in May 2002 for PC.

It partly lets RS focus on the console release before getting to the PC version, but it's also an anti-piracy method, and a means to captialize on more sales: It encourages people people to buy the game for platforms with less piracy first, while RS adds enhancements to the PC version, hopefully resulting in people who bought their game before buying the same game later on to have the improved version of it.

Rockstar doesn't mention any upcoming PC release before the PC release is at hand because doing so would result in people refraining from purchasing the console version if they know that a PC release will eventually come.

Regardless, I think you can be sure that a PC release of RDR 2 will eventually come.

Probably not until a year later so they can double dip. Fool me once Rockstar..

Just once? Rockstar has been consistent with that for 15 years.

Their business model is to get people to buy it on consoles since they won't announce any plans to release a PC version, and hope the enhancement/modding prospects that come with a PC release gets a fair amount of users to double dip.

R☆ isn't going to announce anything PC related for quite awhile.

its not rly necessity to buy console when twitch stream IS easy solution.

GameFly for $14.99 and not a penny more. I just give zero F's about jackin horses.......wait that came out wrong...wait no......shit.....never mind. $14.99 at GameFly. The writing, production and quality will be off the charts...but running around playing a GTAV Mod in the old west just ain't gonna cut it for me in 2018.

I won't buy this I lived the Wild West in my younger years on the Farm maybe if they had a PC release.

Wouldn't surprise me but there's gonna be some heavy competition for GOTY across a number of genres.

Unless I'm mistaken there's Bloodstained, Ace Combat 7, the new No More Heroes, possibly TLoU2, Death Stranding, DBZ:FZ, Monster Hunter World, Code Vein, and some more.

This game will trounce anyone else's efforts in 2018, the only question is will it be any fun to play. I'm convinced it won't be, mostly because of the subject-matter, but I know that's an IMHO. It will be a high-quality, well-written and polished effort, of that I have no doubt.

First they'll release it on consoles.

Then they'll release an enhanced version for PC a year later.

THEN they'll release that enhanced version on the next-gen consoles.

All the while selling shark cards galore!!!

I never finished the OG. It was like GTA... only much much sloooower. Meh. One of those games everyone likes but me i think.

Yeah, that sounds likely, unfortunately.

Red Dead Redemption Online, where they will try to sell you Saloon Tokens to buy items in a game with an economy corrupted by mods and artificial aiming because they don't make enough money (cough) to sue like Blizzard.

Huh? It's console only, dude

No PC version, no sale.
Something tells me they're not going to be hurting for sales. And I say that as a PC gamer that only turns on a console to play RDR or Bloodborne.

it probably won't be as big a gap as gta5 to pc. But god damn, that game is beautiful. Shame about the cancer mp.

Yeah the GTA5 gap was a huge kick in the nuts, because instead of the GTA5 for PC they decided "Oh hey next gen consoles" so we had to wait even longer. But to be honest, I can't blame them, console sales absolutely dwarf PC sales. And to be fair, who fucking cares, it's not like I'm reading a bunch of GTA5 news getting all jealous of not being able to play, when it comes out for the PC I'll play it for the PC and that's when my window for the game starts, and it makes it a WHOLE lot easier to wait for it to go on sale before buying (I want to say GTA5 was $35 like 6-7 months after PC release). Plus there's the bonus of all the maps/secrets/etc being easily obtainable online so I don't have to pull my hair out wondering where something is :D

I bet this gets the GTA 5 routine.

In fairness, The GTA5 PC version was practically flawless in terms of video performance and graphics settings; it did everything right. It really was a PC version done right.

While those statements are correct the fact that it was delayed by half a year was not right.
