Would you let a stranger come into your house to put away food? Walmart is doing just that: the company is testing a so-called straight-into-your-fridge service that lets you watch the delivery happen on your phone with cameras installed in your house. What could go wrong?

...a Deliv driver will retrieve my items and bring them to my home. If no one answers the doorbell, he or she will have a one-time passcode that I’ve pre-authorized which will open my home’s smart lock. As the homeowner, I’m in control of the experience the entire time – the moment the Deliv driver rings my doorbell, I receive a smartphone notification that the delivery is occurring and, if I choose, I can watch the delivery take place in real-time.

Or you could just fucking go to the store on your own time... just saying.

But yeah where's the video of super hot girl who works Walmart delivery being the one who goes into your house? at least give 50% of the population a desire to say yes to this.

This is, truly, the most LOL worthy head shaker I've heard this year. The people who use the service deserve every single problem they'll get from it. And, already a lighter in the air for the first guy that gets accidentally shot to death by a wasted homeowner who thinks someone is trying to break in. Also a lighter for the guy who finds a huge frozen shit in his freezer, cuz you know that's happening at some point...

If your life is that busy you can not find the time to go to the grocery store and stock your fridge you fracked up somewhere in life.

Home burglar's wet dream: Just order something then wait behind the bush for the door to be opened......

These robots sure are lifelike AI is improving every day thanks Walmart!

Someone should make a video of what is likely to happen, instead of everything going smoothly

Shouldn't Amazon have a huge team of very expensive lawyers that you advise that bozo how bad of an idea this. The PR damage they would get when something happen would be also pretty big.

Minimum wage employees wandering around your house w/out supervision, nothing can go wrong there.

Hell even bank executives steal. Theft is easy to justify when you don't personally know the person that you're stealing from. This sounds like the worst idea of all time. I could see if they met you at the home after you get off work. Wife at home in the bed? Watch the Walmart worker rape her on security camera. Female Walmart worker doing delivery that day? Schedule for her to bring you some eggs and bacon, then rape her too.

Again this is the worst idea I have ever heard of. Have you seen the customers in Walmart? Imagine some of the workers teaming up with them to rob you.

Now if Walmart sent some employees in a cargo van to deliver my food to my door that would be a different story....

On a side note, there online ordering and curb side pickup is a FANTASTIC service. They don't charge any extra and you just pull up and get your stuff thrown in the trunk. Also, if you enable "substitutes" they will trade-up for a similar product if they are out of what your ordered. So like if they out of cheap milk, they will give you Borden and no cost. Out of cheap bread, you get Mrs. Bairds and no cost. Excellent service and the employees I have talked to really enjoy it, since it obviously gives them something to do and gets annoying customers out of the store.

Hmm I should check into getting that then! Didn't know that had that service!

When I was working at a retail job, this would've been a lot better then all the other mundane work. It's shopping but with other people's money~ and you still get paid to do it! Honestly, I'd probably hope that the people really enjoyed what I had picked for them and make sure to fill the cart with vegan food. Evil Cackle

HELL NO. I will not shop at Walmart for food for a very specific reason. I was in line one time and saw their "Go Back" cart packed full of Packaged raw meat....Just sitting there! Nobody attending to it. I don't know what they do with it, do they throw it away? Do they put it back on the shelf? How long has it been there? Who knows! I'm not taking that chance though.

If you only knew what happened in ALL supermarkets and the food chain you'd never eat anything ever again.

Oh I'm sure. I used to work in the food business. I've seen some shady things :wideyed:

Can I get them to cook it for me as well? I like my steak medium rare - charcoal grill is on the deck. Also, my wife's jewelry is in our bedroom. Feel free to look through our underwear drawers too.
I might be showing my age, but I remember when the milkman (yes - man - there were no women in the business) used to bring bottles of milk or cream to some of my neighbors. On their front porch, they had a metal box (might have been made of tin?). The milkman would pick up your old glass bottles and give you new milk bottles. Maybe we just put a refrigerator on the outside of the house. Done.

This might be good for people for people who can't easily got out due to a disability, but I sure wouldn't let them in the door.

yes you are showing your age, gramps.

a freezer outside w/ lock code could work. or one that is apart of the wall and you press a button it flips to the outside when theyre done it flips back to the inside of the house.

The Problem I see, is the people this Valet type service is aimed at may not be the Wal-Mart Grocery type shopper. In reality the delivery person is likely to get robbed in the trailer park before actually delivering anything. Video should have been Wal-mart employee walking up to sketchy camper on blocks, opens door and is greeted by guy in clown suit holding a big knife. End credits

I can see it now.

Bacon-check
eggs-check
raw potatoes-check
pancake mix-check
canned tomatoes-check
granola bars-check

WTF did they put EVERYTHING in the fridge?

Hi All

I don't see how a service like that could even be considered

Hey pancake mix and potatoes are a legit move sometimes if you don't have a close to airtight jar/box to put them in, some areas that's how to get nats and shit. Heat and humidity is bullshit why anyone wants to live in an area with tons of humidity is beyond me

why stop there?

I want a walmart worker to feed me.

Let me get in my high chair and put my bib on

you joke, but you've apparently never been as hungover as ive been in the past. there's times i'd have paid for this.

No. I don't mind going to the store, but if I were to do a delivery service it would be Amazon. And I'll answer the door and take it in myself.

As far as meat, fruit, dairy, seafood, etc I will continue going to the store and inspect my own purchases. Companies shouldn't even try doing some crap delivery service with that, lol. Tell them to put down the crack rock.

This is a NO for me. Did you see that door lock and camera setup? More IoT devices that can be hacked. Not to mention Walmart people coming into your home. Maybe I would let a robot come in and put food away, but not a human. Also, if you are at work, did you see the lady in the video wasting time watching the delivery.

When I worked at a walmart If anything refrigerated was returned or found on a random shelf it was thrown away. But I've also seen pallets of frozen foods thawed out and put back in the storage freezers.

I agree, its just a lawsuit waiting to happen, especially with meats & seafood. Unless they deliver it in a dry ice container or a freezer, I would be worried.

I personally would never do this. I know people that use amazon pantry religiously though. They only go to the store for meat, produce and alcohol.

If your so busy you can't spare the time to go to the store... you must work at Amazon. I love how spending so much time at work you don't have time to do anything is somehow a virtue instead of a management problem.

That's the norm for returned food. Most stores do not want to be sued because a customer gets sick.

Bigger problem is the boxes of frozen stuff sitting in the freezer isle, while one person slowly unboxes it and stocks the freezers.

Milk is also a good example. I can buy milk at Costco, and it's still good 4-5 days after the sell by date.
If I buy milk at a grocery store, it might be good a day or 2 after the date.
If I buy milk at the local drug store, it will be bad a few days before the sell by date.

Main difference is handling by the store, how cold their milk section is, and how long it sat around before being stocking on the milk shelf.

I'd never have produce, meat, or any food that could spoil delivered, because I want to be able to see what I'm buying.
Sometimes when I'm shopping for a Steak, I won't buy any since the quality below what I want. As with Fruits, I'd never trust someone else to pick out a good watermelon, or bananas that are at the ripening point I need.

I’d totally let WalMart stock my fridge.

So long as they also clean out the old leftovers, past expiration food, and whatever is in that old Tupperware while they are in their.
