Really interesting design, with 3 nvme m.2 slots!!

Of note, the add in cards will pretty much require the cpu gets watercooling, will be hard to fit a normal air cooler of any size in that. Also not sure how good ddr4 so dimms are. Some concerns and potential drawbacks, but a damn interesting and impressive board.

I use the dynatron t318 for my x99e-itx and it works pretty well. Dynatron has the R15 wich fits the square socket and should fit just fine on with this system and has a slightly higher tdp of 150w. Again, this is for low profile systems as the heatsink is 27mm tall. Dondan's upcoming HSLP-48 will be 48mm tall with one fan underneath so you could add a second one on top and push the height to 65mm +/- and it should cover the 140w cpus.

Good call on the R15, I was just looking at that the other day on NewEgg...

Regarding the HSLP-48, will it clear the two daughter cards...?

Holy... The second I saw the news about this, I got an erection which has yet to go away. I'm considering calling my doctor at this point. I can verify that this board CAN be used as viagra for hardcore SFF enthusiasts.

They literally solved all the problems with the previous X99 iteration AND added a bunch of awesome stuff. Quad-channel DDR4, THREE M.2 slots, AND a standard square ILM standard socket which will open up the board to any cooler. Yes, there will be limitations with air coolers because of the daughter boards, but I'm sure there will still be plenty of good options. I wonder if the Noctua C14 (the discontinued one) will fit. ASRock has also finally introduced rigidly mounted Wi-Fi. I hate the I/O shield-mounted connections on my X99E-ITX/ac. Still, their previous board was an engineering miracle and my favorite piece of tech that I own honestly, and this one has totally outdone it. They've gone vertical to to solve the space limitation issue. 3 M.2 slots make available the extra PCIe lanes. I can already see people using M.2-to-PCIe slot adapters to install additional graphics card on this board. More SATA connections (pretty useless, but it's good for storage applications) and still managed to cram dual gigabit ethernet. AND one additional power phase compared to the X99E-ITX/ac. ASRock are pioneers, they always go where no man has gone before. Respect. Erection is still up.

As it stands the HSLP-48 should clear the daughter boards. The problem is going to be in fitting the fan and the fan size. With both daughter cards you would need to install the heatsink, fan then the ram which should be simple enough. But Noctua sells heatsinks with 92mm bottom fan and a larger top fan and the temps should be really good.

Again, if the daughter boards are the same height as normal RAM with heatsinks the HSLP-48 will clear it.

Also, Dondan already has the new slim 120mm noctua fans and has 4 HSLP-48 prototypes being shipped to him from Cooljag and Lian-Li. We should be getting results soon to include his current 5820k.

yeah i'm buying one of these... Probably won't be overclocking at all. I just want nvme raid in a tiny machine :)

Oh man, that mb is sexy. I need to find a use for a ridiculous number if cores!!

Me too. 3x m.2s on an mitx is so appealing.

Can't wait for the some reviews and especially for the new Intel cpu's - hope that TIM is enough for stock usage to have decent temps...

I think it was a wrong decision move from dual channel to quad channel. If you are a gamer the performance increase is nearly 0%. Quadchannel needs so much space and only enterprise server application that needs a high bandwidth can take advantage of it.

dondan, gamers rarely buy 6+ core CPUs. A sizable fraction of X(2)99's customer base is people who actually need the extra cores, extra cache, extra memory bandwidth and extra PCIe lanes. It makes no difference for games and the vast majority of applications, but there are applications where memory bandwidth becomes a bottleneck and it makes a big difference. Is that worth dealing with the limitations of SODIMM? I don't know, but a major criticism of the previous board was lack of quad-channel memory. I have it and it makes no difference for me, but If you're spending the money on the platform you want as many of the features as possible. The extra M.2 slots will now take advantage of extra PCIe lanes too, although I would have liked to see some Thunderbolt 3 ports, because there will still be a lot of wasted lanes.

I'm getting this board as the Ryzen mini-itx boards unfortunately are lacking way behind. Can't wait for it to hit retail.

What else would you do with the space? Is there something that you feel is missing from this board?

The only thing i see missing so far is Thunderbolt 3 support. It would be nice to be able to attached super fast external storage or other peripherals to such a small powerhouse.

So this is the standard 2066 socket this time right? So we can mount the common water coolers for 2066 here. That is super impressive.

Is it weird that i can't find this motherboard on the Asrock site? Am i just missing it somehow? :-\

I'm keen to use it in my new build but finding information about it from Asrock themselves is proving difficult (for me at least, my google-fu might just be absolute rubbish!).

For as many features as they pack in... $400 seems more digestable than it would when buying some rampage extreme type board. I'm most likely a bit blinded by its cool factor though.

I'm so glad they moved to SODIMM for this. Quad channel memory really makes this board the go-to for micro super computing.

This would be a great option to do a small form factor build as a vmware/virtualization type server for home. Will be very interested to see if the reviews are positive.

Any news on when this is going to land in AUS?
I ended up ordering one from NewEgg. It was delivered within a week (FedEx) and has been setup at home since last Wednesday now (i'm in Perth, WA). I am normally hesitant to order computer parts from overseas but every store i contacted locally said it wasn't even in their distributor channels yet and no ETA.

Have you had a chance to set it up? Are you air cooling or using the optional monoblock? Curious how you are liking it, it looks like an amazing board.

Yeah i set it up and got everything running, but then had to head out to work (i'm a FIFO worker in WA, so i won't be back home until next week). The setup i have on it is;
- 4*8gb ddr4-3000 (it's running at 2666 though)
- i7 7820x using Kraken x52 AIO water cooler
- MSI 1080ti Duke
- 512gb 960 PRO Samsung M.2 for OS / App drive
- Old WD 2TB 3.5" hdd for storage (i have a 2TB 960 PRO in the mail, should be in my PO Box when i get home)
- Corsair SF600 PSU (i did get a Silverstone 800w SFX-L, but it was DOA so i sent it back to NewEgg and got a refund)
- I think that's everything...?

I currently have it all mounted on an Open BenchTable Mini, but will be swapping it into a Ghost S1 case when they are released (end of Q1 2018 they are expecting to be shipping). I haven't picked up the Bitspower water block as yet as, to be honest, i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to custom water cooling! The x52 is the first time i've used any water cooling! I'll probably pick one up and do some practice loops to figure out how that sort of thing works next year, and then put it on the rig when i'm comfortable with it all.

I don't really overclock (the last thing i did that to was a DX4-100mhz setup waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day), so i can't really give you any notes about that side of things... but i might give it a go at some point just to learn about the process.

I can put some pictures up when i'm back in civilization.

This board is literally awesome! I cant say how much win this is! It got asus to release 2 different new itx board

Thanks for the info! I am thinking about maybe doing a sff server build early next year, and this is my current #1 choice. I hadn't heard about the Ghost S1 before, that looks like a pretty sweet option as well. Will keep an eye out for your pics and updates!

Back home and have a couple pictures, just not super sure how to upload them to this forum. I'll figure it out and get them up ASAP.

EDIT: Hopefully this link works... https://imgur.com/a/K82X2

Please go easy on the cable management situation, this was literally thrown together before i left to catch a plane to work! :-D
