Blizzard is opening a cutting-edge venue for eSports in Burbank, California: the Blizzard Arena will accommodate top players and their fans for high-profile events such as Hearthstone and Overwatch competitions. The facility features a number of sound stages, control rooms, and player lounges so multiple events can be held simultaneously, and there will even be an on-site store featuring a rotating selection of gear and goods.

The Overwatch Contenders Playoffs will run the weekend of October 7–8 and serve as the grand opening event of Blizzard Arena Los Angeles. The top Overwatch Contenders teams from Europe and North America will arrive to battle over prize pools and regional dominance as they take center stage at the Arena. On October 13, the Summer Championship for the Hearthstone Championship Tour takes over the Arena for a full weekend of championship competition with $250,000 on the line. The players left standing will be the final entrants in the Hearthstone World Championship, scheduled for early 2018.

Of course they start this after I move from the State.
Ive found that hanging around people who are really into gaming just makes me want to stop playing them altogether. I'd rather hang out at home and watch people compete in video games where only my wife can make fun of me for being a nerd.

They really should have used another word. People will never fully recognize this as a sport.

This isn't progress this is promotion.

It's a Blizzard store with live demos that "pros" play.

Until multiple publishers go in together on such a venture it's meaningless.

Sure they build it, great 24/7 Blizzard promotion.

The difference between eSports and pro football is every few years the "big game" shifts.

Sometimes it's CSGO, other times it's Overwatch, right now it's PUBG. This eSports Arena will only be hosting one of those games.

This is a living commercial that will have to pay taxes nothing more.

Maybe, we should bring our giant foam fingers to Blizzard arena and cheer on our favorite Starcraft players like they did in South Korea. It's time for us to show our zeal.
