Total War: Warhammer

I finally got somewhere in this game I used the Metal Wizard for Legion and having alot more fun with spells rather then using melee attacks. I'm on chapter 2 for objectives the problem I have with this game causes me to squint alot due to the small units and textures text. I still could use some guidance on the game like how to level up Heroes that are level 1 while your other Hero is level 10. The game is unpredictable though guess I'm too used to holding hand games.
You can have more than one lord in your army. Usually I would say just add the low level one to your current army and use him in battle and he should level up pretty quick, then you can detach him from the army and start his own army.

Another thing that was helpful was using the mod that disables all agents. I don't know if they ever rectified anything on their own via patch as I haven't played in months, but late game becomes very frustrating from agent attempts to assassinate your heroes. HUGE fucking pain in the ass, almost ruined the entire game for me until I just completely disabled them from being able to attack. I didn't use my own agents either to keep a level playing field.

After a few hundred turns the best part of the game is being powerful enough to let the computer play the battles for you and win. As fun as they are, they become extremely tiresome.

It took me damn near a month and 40-50 hours in one of my games to meet the objectives for a win.

Creative Assembly announced TW: Warhammer II today with this trailer:

So far I see Dark Elves, High Elves, and Lizardmen factions. Then at the very end a rat scampers into view, which all but confirms Skaven. I'd wager that since Skaven weren't really featured, they'll come down as a DLC race. As for the region, I'm guessing this is the island of Ulthuan, but I could be mistaken. I'm not 100% on my WH Fantasy lore yet.

Yeah, I am not surprised at all they'd do this. No reason this couldn't be an add-on to the base game. Although at the $20 a pop per race they like to charge, it'd end up being more expensive.

As for the location, it'll be the Lustria, Nazareth, Ulthuan combo to cover those races.

I'm reading that it will add-on to the base game, if you have it. Otherwise it will be a standalone game if you don't have TW:WH1. Makes good sense to me; removing the dependency on the base game eases accessibility for folks who are fans of the new races and locations. What doesn't make sense to me is that there are WH Fantasy fans who would actually buy WH2, but aren't interested in WH1.

The High/Dark Elves don't particularly appeal to me and that's double for Lizardmen.. but if they drop Skaven DLC on WH:TW2, then that will be huge IMO. I feel like they should've led with Skaven for this title.

OK, so if it's a "standalone add-on" then $60 would be the equivalent of their typical $20 per race DLC but forces us to buy all three regardless of our desire. I'll probably hold off until I can get it at a decent discount but in the end I'll cave just to be able to recreate The War of the Beard.

I'll probably buy it right off the bat, if only to keep my mods updated and ahead of the pack.

Speaking of which, my mod Building Progression Icons is now the #1 most popular mod 1 year running and is #8 most downloaded mod for TW:Warhammer. Can't wait to start cracking on the new content. :D

Ok, sounds like the shaven are the fourth unnamed race, maybe? From the FAQ they're saying you'll get for free when you purchase the second game - a global map that has the first campaign map combined with the second gWarhammers campaign map. And they're now saying the second game is part of a three game trilogy. Which I don;t remember them saying when the first game came out. Sounds interesting though.

I definitely recall it was announced as a trilogy (check their future content blog) well before the TW:WH2 announcement.

Skaven seem pretty much confirmed, although unofficially. If you zoom in on the roman numeral "II" in the logo, you can see the tell-tale Skaven triangle symbolism marked all over the damned place. The Steam store page for the game also clearly states there are 4 core races. Of course, only Lizardmen, High Elves, and Dark Elves have been featured/announced... and that one race "secretly stirs." Putting two and two together all but confirms that Skaven are the 4th core race. IMO, Skaven are at the top of the pack (pun) as one of the most interesting races. High fantasy has been done countless times with the trifecta of elves, dwarves, and orcs... so Skaven are a breath of fresh warpdust-filled air. They didn't even just stop at being the "zerg" of WH Fantasy either, they're fleshed out with a relatively interesting culture/society, magic, and warpstone infused machinations. Can't wait to dig my fangs into them. :)

Yeah, I heard this was going to be an add-on, interesting they are also adding it as a stand alone. I haven't played the game much lately, my buddy keeps trying to get me back into it. I kinda played myself out of it early on. I am more stoked to see Dawn of War III at this point, but will probably still pick up the add-on for TW:WH.

Looks like Norsca was announced as DLC for TW:WH1, but is included if you pre-order WH2. Norsca let's play here:

In somewhat related news, I've joined forces with Team Radious for some cool TW modding collaboration opportunities. Generally already including my work in the Radious overhaul mods, but looking to apply my aesthetic touches to other aspects of Radious mods going forward.

My modding team, Team Radious, is doing some community outreach in the form of weekend Total War Game Night events as we usher in TW:WH2. Come join us on www.twitch.tv/spartanvi as I host multiplayer battles among Team Radious staff (basically only me and maaaaybe Radious) and our fans/donors. I'm hosting our first Game Night event tomorrow evening from 8-10PM PT, but may end early depending on viewer interest.

I'm gunning for affiliate status, so please drop me a follow even if you don't plan to watch/chat/play at our Game Nights. :)

I finally picked this up last week and completed my first 200ish round campaign using dwarves last night.

I generally like it, it is the most easily picked up TW game to date (i. e. dumbed down). The only thing I really dislike are the locked settlements. I also found how Chaos was implemented to be annoying, mostly due to some of the earlier waves just suddenly showing up mid map; the main wave was ok as it started in the Chaos area and worked south. It makes for a cool campaign though, I had a few chaos battles were I was reinforced by Vampires, and then later I reinforced the Empire.

There is a really cool diversity of units, and some of the factions are really well done. The first half of my campaign was fighting Greenskins and the random pop up Ork Waagh! army; so when I fought my first Vampire lord it was like "holy shit!". Seeing that first attack by Vargheists was awesome.

If they keep the Warhammer franchise running I hope they take a stab at Warhammer 40k.

Based on historical performance of 40K titles, it'd probably bomb. But I agree, a 40K/Epic game on this scale would be awesome.

As for the inability of dwarves to settle anywhere but the mountain regions (along with other race restrictions), I believe there is a mod that does away with it.

The campaign mode of this game just irks me to no end I'm done with the series until they have a campaign on rails that is fun yet not overtake by 100 turns of not knowing what is going on.

Well Warhammer 2 is out, and we've been hard at working modding it up. Already have the first version of Building Progression Icons and Radious TW Mod:

I have TW:W1 though I've not played it yet (picked it up from a Humble Monthly when it was full price - a great value!) - I see there is a lot of DLC released now 1 - anyone know when there will be a significant sale on Steam or elsewhere? There seems to be ssome good content, like the Wood Elves, but the "big" packs are around $18 and the small ones about half that, so it would be nice to pick up on sale. Likewise, anyone know if there will be a "complete edition" for 1 coming out soon? I have read that TW:W2 somehow "interacts" with 1, allowing you to use any of the races in multiplayer etc... I wonder about campaigns and the like, but its nice to have them together so that thew first is not outmoded. These games are on my to-play list certainly.

"DarrenTotalWar," former CA employee, said they usually drop the price of the core game around the time they release a new DLC. He expects there will be a sale on the core game sometime in December.

We haven't seen a "complete edition" from their prior games. I understand that WH is different, so I'm crossing my fingers, but I don't expect it. WH2 will eventually be patched to support WH1 in the grand campaign for those who own WH1. This is called "Mortal Empires" and will play and look a bit different that we'd expect (e.g. no Vortex, geography scaled, factions moved around, Legendary Lords get their own start positions).

I seen some footage of the pirate dlc that came out a few months back looks pretty awesome so I picked it up basically the only game I picked up during the steam sale. I picked it up once before but I refunded it because I couldn't get into it.

This guy is so good

Update: I bought the game but I refunded it again the User Interface Overworld map is just obnoxious building structures or updated skill points or movement. you have so many navigation windows telling you want to do and it's different with the pirate DLC if C.A. wanted to improve the game just totally do away with the U.I. I think it's dated if it doesn't serve the function which is navigate over the world. I'm sure I could figure it out with a week worth of time but I just don't have the the time. Way more complex than what Warhammer I was with the UI at least I got somewhere with that game.
