Razer is launching a new Blade Pro that costs $2299.99, which is still expensive, but better than the original’s $4,000 asking price. Instead of a GTX 1080 and 4K screen, this model will feature a 1060 and Full HD panel. The RAM has also been halved to 16GB.

This new build – at a lower price point than the Razer Blade Pro with a GeForce GTX 1080 – is targeted toward gamers and creative professionals that need a slim, powerful desktop replacement. Equipped with a 7th gen Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor, the latest Razer Blade Pro is a performance-focused system with stunning 17.3-inch Full HD, 120Hz screen. The 1920 x 1080 matte panel offers users a beautiful display that is ideal for pushing out high framerates, and providing amazing color with wide viewing angles.

"What do you mean no body wants to spend $4k on a gaming laptop? Halve it and sell it for $2.3k! That'll get'em."

This product is a niche of niche. I can't imagine they're selling many. You need someone who's a serious gamer that is also on the move and has expendable money to burn that also doesn't mind a massive laptop.

I've always wondered how much of a market there is for the 4 Thousand Dollar Gaming laptop. I know there are professionals that love gaming and essentially hop from hotel to hotel being more held back by their connections than the hardware. I'd think this revision would be more viable for serious shooters, whereas the original could be nice for a game like ffxiv or other offline titles. I've always been in the boat that would just buy the cheaper gaming laptop with a solid videocard and then build a maxed out desktop for less than the cost of the 4 grand laptop.

The original Blade Pro at $4k would make good bookend to your ultimate gaming rig aka the Acer Predator. Baller.

they're taking a page from the apple book.
$1000 more than a typical 1060 laptop, but you're getting 100% adobe rgb 120hz panel, mechanical keyboard, and aluminum unibody.
This is a $500 markup.

Not really worth $1000 extra, but who else is making laptops with this build quality?
They're all plastic with aluminum cladding, and lcd's with shitty color gamut.

Don't forget the keyboard; it's getting harder and harder to tolerate resurrecting the old Thinkpads just for the sake of a good keyboard.

The newly updated Dell Inspiron 7000 offers the same specs, with the same build materials, in a smaller size for $1399 less. Razer's primary advantage is that the Pro offers a significantly larger battery. That's a good thing, but is it $1399 better?

I spent about $4500 on my Clevo laptop, but that's with a 7700k (k was $20 more, so why not), a 1080, 4k screen, 1tb 960pro and a 1tb SSD with 64GB 2666 DDR4.
IMO, Razer is overpriced.

Edit: As far as why: humidity kills desktops here in Brazil and I need the mobility. I don't want to be stuck with a piece of crap laptop when I fly and am stuck is some hotel.

I have a Clevo too, and bought it years ago for the same reason. I'd buy another (or similar) if I really needed occasionally portable horsepower.

But this Razer is in an entirely different category. Clevo is bottom of the barrel for build quality, while Razer is going out of their way with this product to embarrass Apple and the best from Dell and HP.

I don't own laptops bigger than 13" it's suppose to be portable. If i wanted to lug around a shitty desktop i could build a custom SFF and attach some sorta cable, keyboard, mouse gathering with a handle on my monitor. I also no longer buy laptops that aren't touch screen, didn't think i would like touch screens on laptops so much but i do. They're really convenient for quickly navigating something while have a laptop actually on your lap vs a trackpad.

I'm pretty happy with the laptop's quality. It feels solid and isn't flashy.
I was pretty surprised at how nice it sounds, too, which isn't something I was expecting at all.
Cooling-wise it sucks ass with only one heatsink for the processor, so I can only get 4.5GHZ out of it(all cores), though perhaps I did a shitty delid job. Gonna review when I have time, but during the week I work (on it) and on the weekends I play.

Says you? Razer is notorious for bad build quality and jacked up prices and even worse customer service. Only products of theirs I have now I got on clearance for 70+% off as it's the only way I'll take the risk of them breaking again.

Trust me, I put the 'with this product' in there intentionally. I'm quite aware that their overall product quality isn't the best.

This model and the 2016 "Pro" model are infamous for having the worst keys ever devised.

Seriously, Razer. Fix your damn keys on what should be your flagship model. It's embarrassing. Even your lowly Blade Stealth (aka made for peasants) has better keys.

the inspiron offers budget materials, lots of plastic, and shitty color gamut TN, if not, IPS panels, and a regular scissor switch kb.

Pretty sure these laptops are not so much being bought by gamers as they are being bought by video editing professionals
