Windows vs Linux

Hello, What are the pros and cons of both?

If all games played on Linux I would switch over in a second. I have run Linux and it works great. I even set up a business center with it and it's easy as Windows to use.(Windows 7 and below that is)

Pro's for Windows is Games and probably some office type stuff.
Pro's for Linux is you customize the OS to suit your needs.

Con's for Windows is MS customizes the OS to suit their needs.
Con's for Linux is not all games are supported.

I like how macs weren't even considered to be invited to this potential flame fest.

I have no idea on the Linux step 1. I have never done any of that. Even non tech users had no problem using Linux.
I guess you have not tried the new Linux distro's? They just work! (for me at least)

I was going with troll but with 10 posts, but 3 are about a case, 5 about what parts to buy for a gaming computer, and one about not using consoles and only gaming on pc.

So I think this was probably an uninformed question legitimately about what operating system to run on a gaming computer.

I'll bite I guess, if you are building the computer solely for playing games, then it's not really a discussion. Windows has always been the dominant platform for games, and you don't have to worry about whether or not your game will work on your operating system. It's just going to work, and the majority of the time if it's on both, the Windows version will have the edge on performance as well. As stated there is an entire subforum that just spirals down into oblivion any time Windows or Linux is mentioned in a post, so I don't expect this one to fair any better. Rather than asking a "X vs Y" question, it would be better to simply ask what merits Windows has in one thread, and one merits Linux has in another. Those might last about 30 seconds longer than a "X vs Y" thread before someone trashes the thread with useless comparisons.

Windows is like a car.

Linux for server and computing
Windows for Excel
Rest on Mac/iOS

• What I like on Linux that I have a higher level of control , after the learning curve flatten out.
• Nothing beats Excel
