Destiny 2 on PC Will Have Restrictions for Specific Applications :)

Are they trying to piss off Pc gamers?

Cuz this really irritates me. I'm all about choice, and I hate not being able to play the game the way I want to.

I could MAYBE understand this if it was in multiplayer only. But of course this game is kinda weird that way. Sort of an open-world mmo singleplayer campaign hybrid thing.

This is excellent news. This is the primary avenue for cheats on PC, especially overlays like wall hacks, radar etc. I have no problem with this if it shuts down cheaters. It's unfortunate that certain legit software is affected, but the article clearly points out plenty of alternatives to achieve the same goal.

I can see where that could disappoint some people but overall doesn't bother me personally.

It is online always.

Sucks for streamers, recorders, testers I guess. Makes it easier for the devs to claim high fps with no overlays allowed showing otherwise?

I've had dual monitors for...oh I don't even know how long but I haven't dealt with overlays since. Much easier to just have a second monitor dedicated to teamspeak/discord than to deal with an overlay.

Not being able to play the game in full screen while using Xsplit is going to kill performance. The other restrictions I can deal with.

Why do you care really? Just turn the overlays off or don't use them while playing. It's really not that big of a deal especially the game is so dependent on online play which essentially is the entirety of the game. Remember what happened with the Division? People shit on that game MONTHS after PC release because of how flooded it was with hackers. Any time a game like this comes to PC, people just want to flood the fucker with cheats. So if you are a legit player you have nothing to worry about.

Overlays always mess up stuff anyway as long as I can run XOC still otherwise my card will melt.

I don't get it. Nvidia Shadowplay is supported, also some other capture apps, so the game clearly has support for in game overlays.
But MSI Afterburner, Mumble, Discord etc are not, because cheaters?
Makes no sense, who would use those apps to cheat?

ShadowPlay and AMD's ReLive ARE supported; however, OBS and XSplit (the popular alternatives to those two) will not be - they are popular alternatives primarily due to the supporting cards that are NOT compatible with ShadowPlay (non-GTX GPUs) or GPUs from AMD that don't support ReLive.

Afterburner isn't just an overlay program. It offers a way to cap FPS (typically using different algorithms from in-game ones) and video card overclocking. The game runs great, but if it doesn't Afterburner can be a solution for many people.

Just an fyi, destiny 2 beta did not like malwarebytes web scanner running in the background at all. It caused stutters that made the game unplayable.

Just cap from hdmi to your monitor.

Sadly it will end up being irrelevant. They will find a way to inject cheats just as well. They are hackers they wont be stopped by simple 3rd party program limitations. :ninja:
The only way to actually keep hackers at ba would be to process graphics server-side which is not going to happen this decade.
