Introducing Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition

To add, people are posting screenshots of their confirmed pre-orders on eBay with promises to ship when they receive it. Average right now is about $750. With an outlier of $1,200.

People will pay it. I was offered as much as $1,000 for my Xbox 360 walking out the door of GameStop when it first released. I took the offer and the guy paid.

The timing works to make some solid money. It's coming out just before Christmas, which means people are often willing to overpay or do something ridiculous for a gift.
The (somewhat lukewarmly received) Playstation VR was going for $1000+ last Christmas and people were biting.
Since these already sold out, clearly there's a demand for them.

Funny how we went from nobody will ever pay $500 for the console and they won't sell 10 of them to they are all sold out and people will be more than happy to pay 1.5 - 2x the cost. So I guess that is proof that they actually will sell some of them and that $500 must not be too much for everyone.

Keep in mind it all has to do with supply and demand. Before it was released everyone thought that the PS3 was going to be this massive selling item. Most of them that sold were to people that only expected to buy them to sell online, they did that, posted them for $1200+ .. and then nobody bought them at launch, there were plenty still in stores so nobody bought the ones on ebay which resulted in many people returning them right after launch as they had only got them to sell. People are posting them for $700 - $1200 but that doesn't mean that they will get that amount, they are just assuming that there will be a huge demand. Which means that one of three sides has to be correct. There are some that expect Microsoft won't sell but a very small handful of the consoles and thus you will have millions just sitting there unsold. Which means that ebay people get jack shit. There are those that expect there to be a decent demand, some areas will be completely out others will have some and they will get them back on the shelves quickly where they are out. Meaning that those that want one can get one with little trouble and they will still have some to go around, again ebay people get nothing. Then you have people that assume that they will sell out everywhere, everyone will want one and nobody will be able to get one. That is where ebay people win and get money. I personally am in the middle group. I don't think they will sell extremely poorly or extremely great. I expect some type of middle ground where most people will get one if they want one without trouble.

This proves scalpers exist and fanboys will pay anything. Unfortunately, fanboys paying anything to join launch hype bandwagon != sustained sales, or putting any dent into PS4/PS4Pro sales.

Introducing the world's first 4k60fps console!**

**60fps when enabling enhanced textual-only based graphics mode.

I'll probably wait a few more months for the Xbox One X Scorpio II Turbo Championship Edition

Kinect? Ah yeah. I remember that camera. ...we don't speak it's name for it may return next generation. I'm not saying that Xbox Scorpio is going to kill Xbox Division. Not by a long shot. While they're definitely losing the market share race with Sony, they've also built quite a firm foundation to stand on for a long time. I'm saying that I've already heard that people consider X1X to be expensive. Yes, it's performance yield native 4K + HDR @ 60 fps. That alone is quite impressive. I don't know, I don't see it being a good seller especially if the games still work on non-pro consoles.

Define "firm foundation", because from where I sit, Xbox is a distant THIRD in the console war...and losing more market share every day. Currently being outsold over 3:1 worldwide, and approaching that number in their strongest market, the US.

Third? Who is ahead of them besides the PS4?

The Kinect was always going to be a gimmick though. First, it requires space, which you just can't guarantee people have. Yeah, some people have big rooms in their house or apartment. Other people (such as myself) barely have any pathways between rooms. Second, as you mentioned, the second you remove a device from being packaged, it will cease to be relevant in the long run. Activision and EA certainly aren't going to support it, at least not to the point of being just a fancy gimmick. They need their games to run on the PC and PS4 as well. That just leaves first party developers. And really, how many first party games came out on the Xbox One?

This was not the problem. None of it. The PROBLEM is that the technology simply didn't work as advertised. Aside from simple tracking for dance games, it was horribly inaccurate and UNUSABLE as a primary gaming interface. EVERY SINGLE GAME that tried to use it failed horribly. And after promises of "improvements" on the XB1, it failed to deliver. Great for simple voice commands, but a massive fail for any kind of real motion tracking.

Was thinking the same thing. The Xbox One has sold over 30 million units. Current estimates for the Switch are only just over 5 million. The WiiU capped out at around 14-15 million. I don't see how you can count the PC, iOS, Android, or even the 2/3DS as competition. What else is there?
The Xbox One's sales aren't that bad in the grand scheme of things. They're just being eclipsed by the especially successful PS4.

Meh, I'll wait for a new open box one to pop up on Craigslist for half price

Um... no.
Um, yes. The switch is selling TWICE the number of units per week as the Xbox. PS4 is 3:1. Keep deluding yourself that it doesnt matter because they have higher lifetime sales. That wont last long at this rate. (PS, the 3DS has higher numbers than Xbox LIFETIME as well)

At a certain point those sales will stop or slow down, so lifetime sales number matter. That's your install base. It's different if you're talking about a system that isn't getting new content, but the Xbox One is.
For Nintendo to overtake the Xbox One in terms of both sales and developer priority is going to take a while if it ever happens at all. The fact that the PS4 and Xbox One are easy to port between doesn't hurt, too.

I had cancelled my pre order from the MS Store. Then I decided to get one anyways and pre ordered from Newegg, which will be here tomorrow. :) I had not noticed though that I will not be receiving the Project Scorpio Edition, oh well. Still, looking forward to it and I have a Kinect 2 adapter, already to go.
