So I am getting the itch to throw together a rig to mine with, without spending on all aspects if I can get away with as such. I have a DFI LP DK X48-T2RSB PLUS motherboard, ssd and psu that I want to repurpose if I can. So I figure a proper frame and graphics cards are all I need to invest in. From what I gathered from google, a pair of 2.0 x16 slots and an x4 slot should work for 3 cards. So I was just curious if anyone had any experience with something similar, or if I should just figure on all new hardware.

Yes that board should be good for 3 cards. The speed of the ram cpu and board doesnt matter...Ive used older slow equipment for some of my mining rigs.

Most of us run i3 or Celeron procs. No need for the power consumption or the computing power.

Just as a bit of an update, i couldn't get this board to recognize more than one card at a time, no matter what i did in windows 10. One card runs on a riser on any of the 3 slots alone, but nothing worked with 2 or 3 not even 2 in the boards 16x slots. 2 cards worked fine together in my x370/r7 plex server system, so I gave up and ordered a z170 and g4400
