Costco Warehouse is clearing out a Hisense 43H7050d 43” 4K hdmi 2.0 60hz smart display, that also makes a great monitor for $249.

This is $100 less than Best Buy’s current price of $349.

The display uses a VA panel and with the proper settings, it delivers a crisp image with deep blacks and a wide viewing angle. fwiw... I’ve replaced my seiki 39” monitor this display

How wide a viewing angle? How far are your eyes from the monitor? And the far edges then still look good?

Viewing angle is great. 178 degrees. In store only, if it’s on sale at your Costco. It’s a clearance * item. While supplies last as usual.

Any idea how this compares in PQ with the Samsung 6300 from some months back? I know that's a 40" , and would be using as a 4K gaming monitor.

Cannot find any information in costco.com. Can you please share bit more info?

Do you know the Costco item #?

I'm not finding full details on this model (unless my google-fu sucks today?).

Anyone know if it is real HDR or one of those water-down HDR?

This is an H7 series, not an H8 series. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have 4:4:4 and also no HDR.

But I could be wrong *shrug*

It passes 4:4:4 tests and the box has HDR pasted on all sides.

Fwiw... the build quality of the casing is better than crossover or seiki.

2 of the 4 hdmi ports are 2.0/hdr.

For PC/Mac display, game picture mode with a reduced sharpeness setting of 1 yields the best typeface rendering.

I bought one. I'll test it tomorrow. This is too good to pass up and for that price, I'd settle for 8 bit HDR for PS4 pro

I was just there today too, I didn't think to look for a TV. I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if they have it.

It "accepts" HDR signal but does nothing with it. 250-300cd/m2 brightness and 8 bit panel is not displaying any kind of actual HDR.

that's disappointing.. You can always return it and get a real HDR for additional $300

I'm debating if I should keep it. I'd like to use it for ps4 pro but not sure if it's worth it.

That price placard has the Asterisk of Death on it. Costco won't be getting any more of these in.

Costco has really cheap 3 year squaretrade warranties at least, so definitely get one if you get the tv. Hisense has a rather poor track record of quality.

178 degrees is a typical meaningless manufacturer spec.

"Narrow viewing angle"

...were not promising as far as viewing angle. Nonetheless I checked out the costco unit. At a distance of 18-20" which is how I'd use it, there was to me unacceptable degradation at the edges, YMMV if viewing from further. It is a great value but I'd only buy it as an interim monitor if I knew the monitor of my dreams (40-43" OLED) was around the corner...but I don't know if that is going to be 1 year or 5. So I'd rather wait for BF and hope for a good deal on a LG 43UD79 or Sony X800E...even if that means $500+. IMO.

P.S. I did find one glowing review:
https://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/hisense/series-7-uled-4k-uhd-tv/606630/
but that is for use as a TV, not a monitor.

I’m getting HDR options from an AMD RX480 via a DisplayPort -> pluggable active hdmi 2.0 adapter -> amazon basics hdmi 2.0 cable.

Taking time to find the right setting is the key to this display can yield a great every day monitor image. It’s a coders dream on a shoestring budget.

For $275 with tax, this is a great deal.

There was still a bunch at my local Costco, I don't need it so I didn't pick one up. I'm curious about how good the quality is though.

Seems like a semi-decent deal but after including all the fees and shipping it isn't too much less than the new 43" TCL S-series. The Google checkout option comes to almost $300, for me, after Costco fees and shipping. At that point might as well spend another $50 and get the TCL from Amazon. It seems like an over-all better TV.

Thanks for that, but obviously, it's not 444. From the rtings review of the Hisense H8C (different model, but might be similar): "With the newest firmware version, the H8C now supports chroma subsampling at 4k. To display it properly, use the 'Game' picture mode."

(Side note: they say "supports chroma subsampling", but what they mean is it supports NOT chroma subsampling. Somehow this reversal has become common).

Attached are the settings I’ve found that work best when using this as a desktop monitor @ 3840x2160 / 60Hz on macOS.

Game mode delivers the best image quality. It’s noted in the docs that it is setup for games and pc connections.

One more thing. Attached is the 4:4:4 test with the proper color profile selected.

Have you checked for firmware updates that might add 444 support? Also, on a Mac you probably need to turn off subpixel AA because most TVs use BGR, which Macs don't support.

what is the DPI at 43" ? So interested in replacing my dual 24" Dell 1920x1200 monitors, but I can't go below my current DPI without needing reading glasses. I think I would need about 47" to be comparable...

Won't be a problem at your typical viewing distance the DPi and text legibility is at least as good as 1200p from same viewing distance and actually easier to read than 27" 1440p

Good deal for entry level 4K but for those that want 4:4:4 and HDR without guesswork, just wait for Samsung's clearance on HDTVs for just a bit more around Black Friday

Picked up one of these after my Bride terminated a fly on the screen of our old Westinghouse, leaving black lines. So far, only used it as a TV - netflix and amazon streaming built in, lots of ports for other stuff.
