Meet the new Nokia 8

Definitely an interesting option since the price starts at 599 €. But... Since I have Honor 8 I don't really have any reason to upgrade. Pure Android and fast updates would be nice though.

5.3 inch large bezel LCD and not waterproof for 700 dollars? At that price point you shouldn't have to make compromises.

There are apparently no plans to bring it to the US, so I suppose this isn't an option for me. I do really like that they're claiming to run the most stock version of Android possible.

Apparently missing 12/17 bands for usage with T-mobile and ATT, so buying one from outside of the US won't be of much help.

Where do people pull this 700 dollars? Pre orders are stating from 577 € in Germany (and that includes taxes). In any case though, it's going to be a lot cheaper than Galaxy S8 (for example) here in Finland.

Now that I've seen some proper camera samples, it looks quite promising. Definitely a great start.

One comparison (by io-tech)
Nokia 8
Galaxy S8

To be fair 700 dollars would be less than 600 euros in current exchange rate, so not that big of a difference

It looks like it's going to cost 579 € directly from Nokia here in Finland. That's with 24% VAT included. Direct conversion doesn't quite work.

So that was quick. Available now and for 579 € (inc. 24% VAT) here in Finland - much cheaper than what I thought. Apparently it's indeed super smooth. I just hope that other manufacturers would stop with the crazy customisation nonsense. I wouldn't be that surprised if it receives Android 8 next month.

My mother got one yesterday. Gotta say... It's smooth as baby's butt. Camera seems really nice and there's zero bloat. It feels great in hand and the heatpipe cooling seems to work great. The annoying thing is that the Android is so stock that it doesn't support exfat. I really think that Google should consider using something different than fat32 for sd cards.

Considering how much pixel and the likes cost, I think this is probably the best alternative out there at the moment (if you want pure Android and fast updates).
