So who is pre-purchasing the X399 motherboards and Threadripper CPU's tomorrow?

My 1950X is being prepared for shipment today with an overnight delivery tomorrow, however no word on my motherboard it is still saying Pre-Order on the Egg.

If I get my Threadripper on Friday or Saturday and my motherboard next week I'll be pissed.

Prepare to be pissed. I called Newegg's "support" they aren't getting the MSI boards till next week. Then, they charge at the price you preordered at. Now you may ask why mention the price? Because it dropped to $350 while they've been holding your time ransom.

You have to call support and ask that they add a note to your account to match/honor the new price since it has been within a week since you've placed the order. The fun doesn't stop there though.

You will still be charged the full amount when it is time to ship, but you have to re-contact support and point out the note on your account that they are to honor the price change after they have charged that amount.

Now the other option is to just cancel and reorder the board, but you lose your place in line.

Would anybody believe this if I said this during the Socket A days about newegg?

This doesn't hurt as bad for me since I still need to wait for the quality waterblocks to hit anyway, plus I'm still waiting on this, but srsly. The situation is bullshit for anyone getting the new Noctua or reusing an AIO.

I had ordered the Gigabyte board, and just a moment ago got the emails from newegg with tracking numbers. Looks like it all arrives Friday.

Looking at my MSI x399 preorder on newegg, it looks like it got delayed to the 16th. All of my other stuff has charged already but the MB.

Anybody else having this?

I ordered through Amazon and they still haven't given an update as to when my order will ship. Still says delivery date pending. Not switching to Newegg though. Ordered through Amazon for easy returns and 1 year of 0% financing

Kinda sucks, I will be getting my processor tomorrow with no motherboard to put it in.... My Asus Zenith still says Pre-Order.

I'm getting both my 1950x and Gigabyte motherboard Saturday, have my corsair asetek cooler ready and some thermal grizzly :D

Everything ready but the 1950x and MSI board from Amazon...guess I'll be waiting for a while. Looking forward to all the review action that should hit soon. Can't wait....

In for a 1950X and a Zenith Extreme. It's gonna replace a few FX-8 hypervisors I've got. I would actually prefer an Epyc, the SuperMicro H11DSi-NT is calling my name but it seems like it'll be a while until they're out in the wild for e-tail for both mobos and the cpus. Going to shoot for NewEgg this time too as Amazon royally fucked up my R7/Crosshair VI pre-order and I ended up having to wait a few extra weeks.

I'm strongly debating on upgrading the core of my home network for 10GbE as well between the new pools and the M2 drives I've been using in builds lately I'd be in heaven.

I am going to wait personally till I can buy everything I need all at once. I am just not into getting parts sitting around I can't use over several days or weeks. Honestly I am still looking for a new full tower case to put everything in. :)

Hmmmm. Gaming performance is giving me pause. This whole gaming mode vs content creation mode is a mess. Never occurred to me that older games would freak out when seeing a CPU with more than 20 threads.

Just received notice from Newegg Business that both my ASUS board and AMD Threadripper CPU have been processed and will be shipped out this afternoon with a delivery tomorrow. Looks like I'll have some fun this weekend.

Preordered on day 1 of Amazon. Nothing. Just we need more time to give a shipping date

Anyone else order from.amazon and get shipping notification yet? I have a feeling Amazon was a huge mistake

I cancelled my order. Threadripper is disappointing, especially this whole game mode switching thing. Amazon didn't update my order with a shipping status before I cancelled (cancelled at 11:50AM eastern)

Well that's extreme reaction for a few fps lol... we all knew it wasn't a gaming chip.

I run a 100hz gsync panel. Such as that as long as my fps is 70 or faster on all games at 3440x1440 then I'm not complaining.

What is so disappointing about TR and the game mode?

Looks like I should have pre-ordered a board. Only thing available right now is the Gigabyte, wouldn't use another one of their boards if it was free.

Amazon does has tendency to take more orders than their actual stock on hand. But I still consider their return policy miles better than Newegg so I will stick with em. If Amazon manages to ship my preorder today, I will still get in on weekend so......

Yea, I'd skip the Gigafail too especially with its limited lane width slots. The MSI is promising with its 4 full width slots.

They're all made at foxconn lol.

Anyways what you gonna use 4x 16x slots for? Plus that's impossible numbers. If you populated all 4 then you wont get 64 lanes total. Nvme needs lanes, chipset needs lanes, etc....

I dunno, but I want them for the flexibility, ya dig? Like I want to be the one to decide where stuff goes, not to have that be dictated for me.

Gigabyte just sucks anyway. Maybe it's just me, but I'm like 0/5 over the years on GB motherboards. Always some stupid quirk/annoyance, assuming it actually works fine out of the box.

Using one now for my personal rig, never again. Ready to move on.

Supermicro! I know, I have owned more than a fair share. I absolutely love RGB! If I want a server looking machine I will get a supermicro board and chassis.

Anyways....

Looks at this beautiful mother of a board lol.

Imagine twin Epyc 32 core chips on this beast with 512gb Reg ECC 2666mhz. Oh my the rendering power and video transcoding hotness! Us drone post producers would love it. Can't afford it. That is $8000 in processors alone and about $1000 for the board.

About as basic looking and workstation like as you can imagine!
H11DSi_spec.jpg

I want this board so bad but the 10GbE NIC variant for my home server refresh but I've been looking everyday and can't find it or any chips for sale anywhere. All the searches come up mum too as far as e-tail availability goes it all about OEM/ODM (which I get). Part of me wants to just hold off a bit longer for it.

Just a heads up if you're near a Microcenter- They aren't listed on the website yet but my location (Boston) had multiple Asus Zenith's on the shelf and TRs in stock. Probably the case for other locations. Cancelled my amazon preorder.

There is tax, but the Asus board rang up at $519.99.

At 520, that means you got the bonus discount I think? Do you recall if they have any of the other x399 boards on hand?

I recall seeing the gigabyte one on the shelf, but I wasn't looking specifically at any of the other ones. They have a ton of boards in there, so if I was guessing I'd have to say they'll have a few to choose from.

I don't think I got the bonus discount either, I asked about it in addition, but the board (which was rung up first) just came up at 520.

C'mon Crapizon. You are like a 450 billion dollar business and you dont have the ability to ship the shit you sell? Lmao I'm done with Amazon after they send me my crap.

Jumping in on Skylake-X

Ordered a 7820X and a Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 9 motherboard.

I was going to go Threadripper 1950X but the gaming performance was a little disappointing to me, and that's what I will primarily be using this build for. The whole gaming mode vs creation mode switching on Threadripper is a huge annoyance factor to me.

I have 2 Samsung 960 Pro 1TB NVMe drives ready to go along with a Thermaltake P3 Case (Red and Tempered Glass Upgrade) along with a Thermaltake Riing 360mm AIO for the CPU. Also have G.SKILL 32GB (4 x 8GB) Ripjaws V (DDR4-3200 @ 14-14-14-34) memory for the build (F4-3200C14Q-32GVK). Will be using the MSI Gaming X 1080 Ti, Samsung 950 Pro 512GB, and EVGA SuperNova T2, 80+ Titanium 1000W PSU from my current build.

Honestly not sure why you considered TR 1950x to begin with, if most important factor was gaming performance, which TR wasn't really expected to top the charts anyways.

Amazon is awful,

I called them and talked a really nice person I admit that, however I inquired about where the hell my processor and motherboard was and they have absolutely no idea when they are going to ship. Remember I was talking directly an Amazon representative. He changed something on my account and he got a date of September 11th, then he changed it back for me so I didn't lose my original order placement.

I am going to use dirty words here -- How in the FUCK Amazon are you going to fucking allow pre-orders with a damn "released on 10th of August" stamped right on the product page and then when they actually release make customers wait a fucking month? I am pissed. Now I am going to leave my order in just in case something changes over the weekend but I will be more than likely getting my chip from Microcenter sometime next week if they get anymore in stock. This is incredible bullshit on Amazon's part and I do not even blame AMD. It is false advertising hands down.

Newegg has the MSI board in stock right now. So close to pulling the trigger..

Yep, ordered one. Goodbye Intel!

I just bought one 2 mins ago. In stock. Waiting on the You've been Billed email. 3 day business to.my house. Should get it tuesday. Gonna cancel my Gigabyte board from Amazon once the everything's good email comes from new egg.

There are a few reasons, MSI always makes a great product, 2nd'ly I was really turned on by the fact that someone told me they have 16x available to all the slots so that really increases options of where I want to place my GPU and other cards especially for running water lines. And lastly there is something I really damn dig about the dedicated VR gaming USB ports on this thing haha... Gimmicky probably so but damn it looks cool on paper.

Yeah. Should be a good board, would have preferred the Asus but.. already have a SFP+ card, feel like a lot of that additional cost on the Asus comes from the included 10GBase-T card.

I've been charged, stuff says packaging. Should have it all Tuesday as well.

I had the Asus bug initially. But canceled it. I felt the same way. Why pay for the stuff I won't need or use like the 10g card and the wireless AD?!?!? What a damn gimmick. Only 1 single ad router on market and it sucks donkey balls.

I use Intel XFSR 10g server cards with multimode fiber in my computer room to my Freenas and my workstation. Makes no sense for me to.pay premium. Plus after much deep consideration I dont want to go the eATX route anymore. Even in my huge Caselabs th10. I would rather have more future case options as I get bored of cases every year and get something new and just transplant everything.

I am working with Amazon to cancel my Gigabyte x399 mobo as it was a bundle with a steam 50 dollar gift card. But they cant cancel without going to fulfillment etc....it may take a few days or I may end up with a Gigabyte mobo. I can return it then. I can't afford and DO NOT want 2 x399 systems lol. Or I'll sell it on forums for like 15 dollars less NIB.

Casabs 4 sale if any one wants it.

I hope there are more x399 boards, especially ones that are cheaper lol

I wouldnt count on cheaper. It is a premium niche market product. There is no reason to price them any lower in all honesty. In as much as I agree, less cost would = more happy consumers, I just do not forsee these getting cheaper. I think the MSI for what it can do at $349.99 on N.Egg is really great price considering how badass the board really is. Four 16x laned slots as opposed to 16/8/16/8/1x like many others this one is 16/16/16/16/1x and the quad channel and 8 dimm slots, 3x M.2 slots etc... is really a good deal in the big picture at this price point. I think in no way is the Asus Zenith justifiable at it's price point because about 97.999999% lol of people have zero need for 802.11ad and that 10g ethernet card which those two easily added $180.00 to the board cost. They should just offer a version with and without the bundled junk. Those who want it get a discount on the parts as opposed to straight up and down purchase and those who just want the mobo pay less.

Stop spreading that BS, MSI is another 16x/8x/16x/8x board, same as others.
