According to SteamSpy's latest statistics, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has sold 5 million copies in just 4 months. Developed by Bluehole Inc, the game has become a major hit among the PC gaming crowd and reached number two on the top concurrent players count on Steam. Originally released in March 2017, the game is still a part Steam's Early Access program and expected to be out of Early Access by the end of this year. Those are pretty good numbers as there hasn't been a major sale for the title.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds receives large monthly updates and is gaining a huge dedicated audience. It is currently the most viewed game on Twitch.

I frickin love this game! So fun especially joining a game with 4!

Literally the only game these days bringing my setup to its knees. Dunno if its the massive map or just early access stuff and sorting out optimizations

Game is adding FPS only servers hopefully in the beginning of August. I think that will help sales a great deal. I like the games concepts but i really hate 3rd person when it comes to shooters and the switch between 3rd and 1st is clunky not even to mention the whole being able to see around corners or trees

While I think having fun is a great criteria, having a game bring your pc to it's knees is kind of an odd one.

I loved ark and all, but when it came out two years ago and it made my 4790k at 5.0 ghz with a 980 do 53 fps at 1080p I wasn't too happy :) Not because it wasn't fun, but it was glaringly obvious where there was massive dips in performance mid game that made you lose a little bit of the immersion

Ya.. no. Not my kind of game. Now... 7 days to die... holy fricken crap!... if you dont die from exposure, infection or lack of food and water... well there's always the blood moon. Play at night with the headphones on, damn. I play private game usually with my son. This crafting survival game is addictive as civilization.

7 Days to Die is definitely an acquired taste, especially due to its graphics and janky zombies.

That said, the crafting and building is highly addictive and I have over 100 hours in it. I go back to it from time to time.

Related to the topic; both 7DTD and Battlegrounds both show how Early Access should be done. Excellent communication and consistent updates from both.

I thought it wasnt my type of game, but a coworker kept harassing me to buy it a few mths ago. it is now by far my favorite game to play and ive spent way too many hours and continue to do so on it. They are just doing it right.

For me.. if a tree looks like a tree, water looks like water.. im good as long as the gameplay is there and its fun. The graphics have come a long way since the first alpha video saw.

This game has had my undivided attention for the past 2 weeks. It's fantastic even with the clunkiness and graphical issues.

The concept is so well executed I can live with the issues.

I can understand why some people like it but it's not my cup of tea. After having so many people tell me how great it is, i finally caved. I played with a buddy who is REALLY good and we made it into the top 5 but the match was so disappointing. Mostly "get gear, hide, get gear, hide, shoot at someone far away, oh they ran away, get gear, hide, kill one person, hide, gun battle, die". In a 30 minute match I killed 1 person and got 1 assist. I was bored out of my mind.

Totally get it, wish the optimizations and everything gets done quickly! This is also going to be an Xbox One X launch title too possibly??

Well that's just one play style. You can always go gung-ho and drop into one of the more populated areas (such as the military base or Pochinki) and get in a firefight nearly right away if that's more your cup of tea rather than slow/methodical style.

You think it isn't your type of game, but it's surprisingly fun. It has this weird way of being both casual and serious all at the same time. You can just YOLO into a hot zone right at the start and wreak havoc until you die a minute or two later... or you can play the long game for the win. It plays out a little different every time. Play it solo, play it doubles,

It's the game that we all wanted from KOTK. The engine is better, the netcode is better, the gunplay is vastly better. To get an idea of how much better, look at how popular Battlegrounds is considering that KOTK is essentially the same game and was out long before this one. And this game absolutely eclipsed it in no time flat.

Now, they just need to keep iterating on it.

I have too much Unreal Tournament in me to play this game. I do not have the patience (or time) to play a game for hours just sneaking/waiting around.

That's what my friend also said. The only problem is I would get to play for 2 min, then have to load for a minute, matchmake 2 minutes, lobby 1 minute, load 1 min, fly in the plane 1 minute, all to play 2 minutes. Again, I totally get why some people like it, but I am personally more action oriented so a game like Battlefield, Titanfall, etc... is a better fit for me. I do 2 min of loading at 10 min of action. It's a better ratio for my personal play style.

They plan on adding mod support as well... Which hopefully means we can host our own dedicated servers (not rent servers through their system or w/e).

Fair enough, definitely happens. Happened last night to me and a buddy, because he's pretty new still and he just wanted combat experience..so we just kept dropping into hot zones so we could get into fights early on for him. Either way, game is definitely more fun with friends.

This would be pretty cool, I think a server where we land and the circle just starts closing right away and quickly would be pretty fun. That might hit my hurdle for excitement per minute =D

I bought into this game after a friend convinced me and I am glad he did. I have only played 1 solo match, but 100's of duo/squad matches and it is some of the most fun you can have with a small group of friends.

As others have mentioned, it helps that the dev team has been very active & responsive to community feedback. Although.. vaulting can't come soon enough.

I can see this game holding me over until Destiny 2 on PC releases and maybe even making some return trips to it when big changes hit.

I have about 100 hours logged into this game. You can play combat or camp. The game can last 2 minutes or a good 25 minutes, depending on your play style. Pretty cool. I tend to parachute far away from the direction of the plane is heading to avoid close combat right away. Then I armor up and get back into the action around when 30 players remain.

is this one of those game when you die, you wont respawn unless someone revived you?

Solo Mode: If you knocked down, you are dead and have to join a new game
Duo / Squad: You can be knocked out & revived by a friendly. Someone can also kill you after they knock you out and you can not be revived again. You can then spectate your teammate(s).

They currently already have "custom servers" that are hosted on their end that affiliates (mostly streamers and such) have access to where they can tweak basically all the attributes of the game. Anything from circle speed, damage, size, time between circle, what weapons/armor/gear spawns, spawn rates, etc. They can tweak just about anything at the moment. You could look right now at the custom servers if you wanted and see if any of those meet your specifications for circle adjustments and see if you like the game more that way, too.

Its a really fun and addictive game. I mostly stopped playing it a month or so ago because I just can't adjust to 3rd person shooters. I need an offline mode to get used to the gunnery, and until I can do that I'm not gunna play it much.

I definitely had similar issues when I first started playing Battlegrounds. My solution was to repeatedly drop into high action areas like the school / military base until I felt comfortable with the gun play mechanics.

It still feels a little wonky at times, but I can fairly consistently win gun fights now. Just keep in mind that it is very difficult to push anyone camping (without them knowing) in a game with third person cameras.

I have absolutely no interest in playing these types of games.

i'm interested but not at 30 dollars. if it was 9.99 I'd buy in a heart beat. I just fear being bored with it too quickly even though the premise of the gameplay intrigues me a lot. It for some reason makes me think a lot of operation flashpoint/Arma in style just not as super hardcore.

I wish it was 1st person only.

UGG....and its one of those games where if you play in low settings you get an major advantage (after watching that video above). Hate that kind of shit.

If anyone's still on the fence about buying it, I have another Green Man Gaming voucher for 27% off that's good until 8/4. Just PM me and I'll send over the code.

I have to agree with the positive comments about this game.

Everything about this game would suggest that it would be a game I would hate. No story, unrealistic premise, essentially a deathmatch...

yet, I can't get enough of it.

Only thing that will make it better is the upcoming fist person only mode in the next monthly patch. (There are a lot of cheap things you can do in third person mode, like simultaneously hiding behind a wall and looking over it, unseen)

I'm a little worried that the upcoming microtransactions in the next monthly patch will simultaneously take away from the experience, and turn it into a "using daddy's credit card to shop for virtual outfits for my character" game...

I find that it is unreasonably harsh on my hardware though. Probably just because it is still in greenlight, and presumably not fully optimized yet.

I found that I could not get it to run at a constant 60+ fps at 4k, so I created a custom 21:9 resolution (3840x1646) and run it letterboxed. This combined with turning some of the settings down from ultra finally allowed my watercooled, overclocked pascal titan to do the trick.

7 Days to Die. I bought it on a whim. It sounded cool. Damn that game is fun. Then, I go to YouTube and see how much more I could be doing. It's a kick ass game.

Playeruknowns Battlegrounds, my kids play it. I was thinking about picking it up on sale and trying it out with them. They really want me to play.
