Microsoft wireless Sculpt keyboard misfires if it's not perfect level?

I currently have a Microsoft wireless Sculpt keyboard and mouse and I love it.

I am however, continuing to have an issue with the keys not registering/misfiring if this keyboard is not perfectly level and within a foot of the receiver.

The Microsoft ergonomic wireless keyboard 4000/Microsoft Wireless Natural Multimedia keyboard would also always have this misfire issue when the keyboard wasn't held perfectly level.

What is the problem behind this and is there any way to fix this? I like to put the keyboard on my lap a lot and it is never perfectly level and I fight with this misfire problem all the time, it's very frustrating on an otherwise amazing keyboard and shouldn't have this problem in this day and age.

Thoughts?

I had something like that 10 years ago but it was corded that thing looks like it could break easily cause it's in mid air. Try a Microsoft 600 keyboard those last forever or get a Mechanical Corsair.
