Atari is debuting a new line of “Connected Life" wearables, and the first product is the Speakerhat: it’s a baseball cap with speakers and a microphone that uses Bluetooth to connect to devices. These are sure to be a hit in public areas.

The Atari Speakerhat is a baseball-style cap with high-fidelity stereo speakers and microphone that can connect instantly to any Bluetooth-enabled device. Connect to any smartphone, tablet, personal computer to play any music or other media content, initiate or accept phone calls, receive voice commands, etc. The Atari Speakerhat feels natural and normal to wear for long periods of time, and achieves a balance of weight vs. sound quality and functionality. The intent is to continuously improve on design and engineering until the technology is completely invisible.

I really should start producing the dumbest shit I can possibly think of and I'm sure 1/3 of the population would line up to buy it.

These silly wearables are all over Amazon. There's even a hat with solar panel for charging your stuff lol.

Why is atari selling hats with speakers is a better question? What does atari even do anymore?

That is the question. Are we sure they didn't sell the brand name to a Chinese manufacturer like a lot of the popular old-school brandnames (Westinghouse, Black & Decker, etc.)?

This is just completely random. It's like they had a ton of items on a wall and wherever the two darts land, they mashed them together.

Webcam Loofah incoming!

This would have been super cool 35 years ago when I was cruising the mall arcade. Now.... ehhhh

Definitely destroys my confidence in the AtariBox.

The old Atari has been dead for quite a while. It's only Atari in name only. I thought they might have had some geek take charge and want to Make Atari Great Again (#MAGA!). Instead, it's just another shit show to take advantage of the retro gaming boom. It's a IP holding house, nothing more.

Atari will always be Infogrames to me, the beloved company that took one of the best 4x space strategy games of the time (Master of Orion 2) and absolutely cluster fucked the sequel.
