Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital and creator of Gran Turismo, has announced that GT Sport will be launching on October 17 in North America. The long-awaited driving simulator, which is supposedly meant to be Gran Turismo 7, will be offered in both a limited and deluxe edition that include starter cars and in-game credits.

Following the successful completion of our Closed Beta phase, as announced earlier this week, we are now entering the final stages of polishing as we prepare for launch. Between now and launch you can expect to hear a lot more from the GT team as we unveil more information on the many features included in Gran Turismo Sport, including the campaign mode, various creative tools, as well as a full reveal on all the cars and tracks you can look forward to racing on launch day!

Have had this preordered for a long time. Nice to have a final release date. Can't wait!

I'm actually considering buying a 4K tv, plus a PS4 Pro, just for this game..
orrr if Sony wanted to be really cool guys they could put it on Playstation now.
but then it would only be 1080p.... what to do??

Correction, PSnow only does 720p... never mind.

From what i've read this game sounds really disappointing. Supposedly only has 170~ cars compared to forza's 700 and with all the same problems of past gt games still present with little improvements. I think kaz is just using this game to fund his racing career at his point and doesn't give a shit.

What problems would those be?

Out of the 120 or so out of the 177 cars that have been revealed so far I am interested in driving all of them. Most of the 700 cars in Forza 7 are recycled from previous games, going all the way back to Forza 3. Out of the 500 or so cars in Forza 6 I only drove around 80-100 of them while completing the game, and I forced myself to drive a different car for each race.

That list of 500 cars made your selection 100/80 cars far better.

Forza basically rebooted at the start of this gen creating hidef cars to the point now they have only now caught up with themselves with amount of forza 4 content in forza 7, polyphony is only now just releasing there first game for the new console with 1/10 the cars there last game had and it took them 4 years and a beta to do it and now they are stating they are going for "quality over quantity".

The game still lacks of improvements from gt5 seven years ago like damage modeling, sound, weather/night/day, terrible camera views and car customization. The rally tracks look like there were copy pasted from granturismo 2 in design and nothing like a real rally track.
Have to add PSVR to that list.
“Unfortunately we can’t support the entire game content in VR and it’s really because – as I mentioned – that the really high rendering loads that [the VR] system incurs on the game, but there will be a VR driving mode in the game where you can run one-on-one races. All the cars in the game are usable in the [VR mode] but only one third of the tracks will be available in the mode.”

Another disappointment.

I wouldn't qualify a perceived lack of features as problems, but I respect your opinion.

Damn. No full PSVR support? That's so disappointing that it's a deal breaker.

Oculus RIft, you look better every day.

This reminds me of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (which replaced Gran Turismo HD Concept). I am guessing in a year or so after its release we will see Gran Turismo 7. Edit: more like two years after this release.

Wow....Looks really good. Miss playing GT, but can't bring myself to buy a new console.
