Win10 EMMC and Optimize drives?

So have a new laptop with a 64GB emmc drive in Defragment and Optimize Drives I wanted to make sure Defragmenting was off. I do see that under current status is says "Needs Optimization". Is it safe to Optimize a SSD/emmc drive as I do not want it to defragment or anything. Thanks
 
Optimization of an SSD or eMMC means defragmentation so, get it done and move on.
 
I think Optimization mainly just "trims it" if its an ssd.....1 regular defrag wont do any damage anyway even if i was wrong lol
 
Yes optimizing an SSD does not include a defrag. It only harms the drive, nothing else. Trim is more likely.

There is a difference between optimizing HDD and SSD. Windows has known the difference since 7, they just changed the naming starting in 8 from Defragment to Optimize. With 7 the OS just disabled defragmentation for SSDs. Starting with the name change in 8 they began running an SSD trim on SSD's as the optimization.
 
So moral of the story is leave disk optimization off, as it's really just disk defrag. Unless I'm misunderstanding.

Who is suggesting turn it off? Defragging your hard drive ... good. Trimming your ssd ... good.

Where do you get those are bad things?
