Comparison of mining on AMD Fury X vs mining on 1080TI with nicehash.

What driver version? what card? What clocks? What miner?

I can't even watch a YouTube video on mine while mining with nice hash.

I always run latest drivers. Using Zec miner but I have both dual and single mined with Claymore for 2-3 weeks with no issues. Also tried Nicehash out of curiousity (I don't like it) and didn't experience any lag.

Are you running latest Windows 10 Creator?

I too have issues doing regular tasks while nicehash is running on a pair of 980Ti's.

My v7 riser extensions came in from minerparts on amazon storefront
https://www.amazon.com/sp?_encoding...119436&seller=A3EIBTCUXVFG5S&tab=&vasStoreID=

Glad to see the 1X riser extension (V7) gives me full bandwidth for the 3rd 1080TI.

After I let this run for a while, I'll try adding a fourth card. I've got a 1000 watt Corsair PSU. Figure 500 watts for these - I can add maybe one of my Fury X back into the mix. Perhaps even use it as my main display card so I can mine and watch youtube vids at the same time. (wouldn't that be novel?) Those four cards will probably tax out my 1000 watt PSU to 80% ish.

and then there were three.PNG

I resolved my poor desktop performance 100% by doing the following:

1. Take 980Ti's out of SLI
2. Remove SLI bridge
3. Upgrade to driver 384.76

Not sure if any one of the above in particular, resolved the issue, but I can't even tell that NiceHash is running now.

Is Nicehash the way to go? Is it better than just mining ethereum straight up if I have 4x 1070?

It's seems to be cheaper with out nicehash. Remember all there fees. I get that if you run ethereum from a pool there is no fee. So then it depends on where you got you wallet. Then there's the exchange.

I own 2 Fury X and 2 1080 Ti. Mining ETH + SIA Furies wipe the floor with the Ti's. Those of you guys having trouble watch youtube while the cards are mining should try dropping the intensity.
I don't know about nicehash , but Claymore miners have this option.

Those Fury cards run sooooooo hot while mining. Even with a 20% undervolt - my radiator was too hot to hold your hand on, and just two of them would heat up my whole basement to the point it was slightly uncomfortable. I didn't mind very long on them because of the heat issue.

sorry, to bump this thread back up.

but, can we discuss the profitability of the 1080ti vs 1070?

I've got a mix of 1070 x8 doing about 240MH/s (31MH/s each) mining ETH another rig of 8x 1060 getting ~200MH/s (25MH/s each).

now that the prices of the 1070 are above $400, I need to look at the 1080ti. Cheapest I can find them are about $650 each card. Now is this really worth it compared to the 1070/1060?

mining profits have dropped low enough for me - I'm just staying put. Each 1080TI is only making about $2.50-$3.00 per day (before electricity) on NiceHash right now. If it comes back to profitability I'd buy more. I'm still running 65% power, at 95% performance. If you look at the nice hash profitability calculator - the 1080TI - runs 95-99% of what it proposes for hash rate at only 65% power with the overclock mentioned in the first post in this thread.

^ what about using it to mine ETH at 37 MH/s? What's the power draw there?

For example my 1070 gets 31MH/s and uses only 100w at 50% tdp. I have memory o/c by +600.

^ well I bit the bullet and bought one. It seems my 1070/1060 rigs are working fine. Now to dabble in something new. Are you guys using the 1080ti for zcash?
