We put up a video of SteamVR Knuckles Controllers in action inside VR previously, and many people came back wanting to see the actual controllers in action rather than only what you could do with those inside VR. The crew over at Cloudhead Games has delivered exactly that. Pretty cool in action. Looks like these are going to be a lot harder to throw across the room accidentally as well...not that I have ever done that.

Check out the video.

Cloudhead's Denny Unger shows off the latest hardware from Valve and SteamVR with the "Knuckles" motion controllers.

SteamVR Knuckles controllers bring Next Gen VR with capacitive sensors for all five fingers, grasp detection, and a unique form factor that allows you to let go at any time without dropping the controller.

Cloudhead Games are the guys behind The Gallery - Episode1: Call of Starseed that we performance reviewed last year. It is 50% off at Steam right now too and I highly suggest picking it up if you have not already.

Provided they are not crazy expensive when they launch, these are pretty much an instant buy for me. We just need some feet sensors to go with them.

I wonder how well they will work for people with missing fingers. If the missing finger is always sticking out or if they allow you to adjust for that in the software.

I agree, this is nearly an instant buy for me. Though I have one question... why are VR gloves not a thing? Surely if they can make the sensors small enough to fit in that device he was holding, can't they just make actual gloves with the sensors? It seems it'd be a better fit and have higher accuracy. I mean, the Nintendo Power Glove was pretty accurate and that was nearly 30 years ago.

Also yes, since we don't exactly need individual toe sensors, maybe we could get some little sensors that you attach to shoelaces? Like the old Nike running shoe sensors. Just a few thoughts from someone who very much enjoys VR finally coming to fruition after sooo many promises from decades ago.

Full hand solutions are on the way but they're still several months, possibly a year or more, away. There are some really promising prototypes out there though.
