So, I have been using bitcoin here and there and saving some, always used coinbase for this, super easy to use and keep track of everything. Well, the other day after not using it for a while I buy another $150 because I want to try out a new VPN, forget about it for a day or two and BAM, email from coinbase saying my account is being closed....TF?

So any suggestions on new places to buy from would be great.

I just opened a coinbase account. What's the scoop? More details? What'd you do?

Bought $150 worth of coin, with the same CC I have had on file since the start, forgot to buy the VPN service, so I literally did nothing with the coin, still sitting in the wallet and then yesterday I get a email stating account was being closed, no actual reason given. I sent an email, but seems they don't do email support anymore, so I sent in a ticket and have not heard back yet.

I only have a CC on Coinbase right now, but stories like yours makes me want to stop using Coinbase. I trade on Bitfinex and also Bittrex. I typically will transfer coin from Coinbase to GDAX and then to Bitfinex or Bittrex to avoid higher fees of Coinbase.

I just don't get it, outside of VPN services, and a few discounts from using BC, I only get BC to save and hope it becomes worth more money. I could understand if I did something iffy with my wallet, or bought something illegal, etc. but they would never even know if I did, as when I buy something I send it to my own private wallet and then either store them (what I do most of the time) or buy whatever goods/service I want.

Eh, I'm a long time Coinbase user and I still think they are the best asides their high fees. I'm 100% leaving if they turn over anything to the government and it seems like that might end up being the case in the near future...
They have ALOT of security features in place and if you didn't use the service for some time and then randomly bought some coin I bet they assumed your account was hacked and took some actions to prevent any loss. Just wait for your ticket response I'm sure it'll all clear up.

Coinbase is a really great platform to get into. If you're a developer they have an API as well.

I have had the account for a while, and have used it many, MANY times, same CC has been on there forever, nothing has changed.

Google "Is coinbase legit?"..... Sounds like a LOT of accounts are closed for nary a reason.

There are Bitcoin ATM machines in my city. You just put in USD and it sends BTC to your wallet. Going to use one this weekend for the first time. Will let you know how it goes.

Use GDax if you're using Coinbase. It's free trading, or super low fees if you buy at market value. You can transfer BTC, ETC and LTC along with USD between the two for free.

Coinbase fees can suck it.

GDax is Coinbase....

I'd never heard of GDAX and had made a few transactions on Coinbase at first, throwing away money with their fees until someone steered me in the right direction. Just trying to help anyone that may not know either.

I did sign up for a Kraken account, but it has been several weeks and still haven't received approval to transfer USD directly into the account.

Which is fine, but you can't use GDAX if Coinbase closed your account.

Just stick with coinbase

You didn't read the post at all did you?

Sure did. WHY is it being closed though? I've found coinbase to be the best one so far. I am waiting to sell my 2 BTC and 1 ETH. Recently purchased LTC through there as well. Hopefully it jumps more.

Then why suggest staying with Coinbase when I can't because my account is closed?

I also already covered that the email said nothing, just that the account was being closed even though nothing has changed and no transactions other than buying BTC with the same CC I have for over a year.

But why would they just close your account? Something you must have done they didn't like....

If you don't believe me that is your choice, random account closing seems to be a very common problem if you Google it. I am not here to debate what you "think" might have happened, they closed my account for no reason and have yet to respond to any tickets I have made and don't even offer email support anymore, so I am looking for other options.

Didn't say I did not believe you lol...I am just widely curious of WHY you think your account got closed. Forget it lol. Good luck on your endeavors buddy.
