MGMCCALLEY your contributions have been huge the first day so far!

Honestly not sure how. It looks like I had about 1300 in just a couple of hours, and then 2000 total for the day. Considering I was only using 10% of my CPU power and I'm now using 90%, by that logic I should be pushing out 18000 per day or some crazy number. Well, at least I'm contributing something. Glad it wasn't a huge hassle to configure the basic version. Happy crunching.

The stats aren't as "instant" as they are with WCG. You need a wingman for each task. So basically each "WU" has 2 tasks that need to be completed and uploaded. If your wingman hasn't completed their task yet then your task goes into the "pending" queue. Once the other half of the WU is completed and uploaded you'll get credit. Could take days before the wingman completes their task in some instances.

And what exactly is so funny about that :p

Serves me right for contributing so little to this one.

Nice work guys!

We also passed up BOINC @ Heidelberg on Climate Prediction.

Thanks for phoenicis 1.1m point update.

Another one of those updates and we'll be in 3rd place. Gonna take a hot minute to surpass Carl Sagan.

Next week isn't looking quite so good. I filled up with a duff batch of work units that fail upload once completed (bad header) and so I have aborted them :grumpy:

If anyone has picked up wah2 region independent tasks from batches 589 or 590 in the last few days, you may want to do the same. They still earn credits but are useless science.

On the bright side, my 4p still has plenty of work so 3rd or 4th place may still be on the cards depending on what everybody else has got left in the tank.

Looks like I had my first power outage since moving to the new office. When is this challenge over?

It finishes today at 19:59 UTC, so about 9 hours from now.

Seems like it's already in the bag. Thanks again for your help on this, much appreciated.

Ok, well I'll start it up again this morning if I make it that way, at least let it finish what it was working on before reverting to WCG. Congrats guys.

I've got around 60 Climate tasks that I'm working on. They take forever though.

Thanks for the help MGMCCALLEY! Keep us in that #1 position for WCG. :)

Although it was pretty obvious we were gonna win I'm announcing it anyway.

We got another Gold on the last Sprint. Good job everyone.

So I should switch back to WCG?

Short answer: Yes

Long answer:
Since you probably have a lot of LHC tasks remaining set your client up like this.

LHC - No new work
WCG - Allow new work, resume

This will allow you to start getting WCG work as your system completes the remaining LHC work. Once the LHC work is over you wont get anymore LHC tasks unless you tell it to.

Another sprint coming up on Jun 29 22:00 UTC or 3:00 PM PST/ 6:00 PM EST

Project name will be announced on Jun 28th (Wed) so might want to get your rigs/borgs ready...

Hopefully it's a well established project that I can get plenty of work from in the beginning.

Yeah, but not everyone on the team bunkers for the first day. ;)

Does anyone know why no one in [H] participate in Radioactive@home at all? This project is part of the marathon.

There are only 3 teams participating in our league. Perhaps this project is no longer accepting new contributors or afraid that we might get radiation poisoning, lol.

Hmm, I think this project is suitable for those who already have kids...:rolleyes:

Radioactive needs a special built sensor that you aren't likely to ever get your hands on. Or, there was one model commercially sold Geiger detector but last I looked it was like a $400 model that someone made compatible drivers for. The project is really poorly ran as well which does not encourage anyone to waste money supporting it.

Here are simple steps. Need more help, just post here and I or someone will help you.

Download the BOINC client here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php
You do not need the version for VirtualBox for this project so grab the smaller download.

setup your account through the BOINC client. Just search for Collatz Conjecture. Create account.

Then go here to login: https://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/index.php

This is the team page you need to join: https://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/team_display.php?teamid=594
Click join team or whatever it says. I forget now.

You have until 4PM EST tomorrow. So you can setup your F@H work to "finish" so it can complete the current work and pause the client until you restart it.

What GPUs do you have? There are some configs for specific GPUs that can double their production.

Do this on your 1080s.

Some recent reading and playing around for 1080/1080 Ti has me currently at the following settings:

collatz_sieve_1.21_windows_x86_64__opencl_nvidia_gpu.config

verbose=1
kernels_per_reduction=48
sleep=1
threads=9
lut_size=17
reduce_CPU=0
sieve_size=30
cache_sieve=1

Watch out for heat at these settings as the load moves from 70% to 95-100%. Not really a problem if you only have one gpu per rig.

app_config

<app_config>
<app>
<name>collatz_sieve</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1.0</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.5</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

Unlike Einstein, I haven’t tried running two tasks on each GPU yet as I’m pretty much at 100% load and the consensus seems to be to leave it be.

The above seems to be working well (Free-DC project # 1 in points so far today:)) but I’d like to experiment some more when time allows or alternate suggestions arise.

Edit: Removed max_concurrent line from app_config as suggested.

collatz_sieve_1.21_windows_x86_64__opencl_nvidia_gpu.config is located here:
C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\boinc.thesonntags.com_collatz

app_config is located here
C:\ProgramData\BOINC

This is the config I used on my 970s I think.

verbose=1
kernels_per_reduction=32
sleep=1
threads=8
lut_size=16
reduce_CPU=0
sieve_size=30
cache_sieve=1

Shucks looks like I have to request a Collatz account from the admin. Was going to fire it up on a 1080 tonight.

Any config I need to apply ? Or just sign in ?

I'm a bit power-constraint on my dual GPU system at home as I try not to go over 600W constant (with 980ti and 1080ti)

Update: didn't I talked about power and limits ?

:eek:
