I know this mouse is ancient, but I'm so used to the shape and feel of it that i don't know if I could like something that strays too far from this style. I was looking at the G400s since that was supposed to be the direct successor to the mx518, but even that mouse is quite old so I'm looking for any recommendations!

I went with the G500s. Pretty damn close to the same shape, but feels much better IMO.

A sad day indeed. Mine is still going strong but I fear that day will come eventually.
Don't get the G500, it's so old tech. I would suggest a Roccat Kone EMP for something around the same size or if you like a smaller size, the Kone Pure Owl Eye
Top sensorm great buttons, A+ scroll wheel.

I went from mx500 to g500 now g900. it is on the expensive side but it has a damn good and precise click.

old tech? I loved my mx510. an mx518 is an update of that. and the g500 is an update of that. new enough for me.

I would look at the Steelseries brand mice -- they're shaped very similarly, and mostly use Optical sensors (just like your old logitech).
