After a full year of speculation, it's official the name for Microsoft's Project Scorpio is Xbox One X.The basic specs include an 8-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHZ, 12GB of DDR5 RAM, 1TB 2.5-inch drive, and 4K UHD Blu-Ray player. The GPU runs at 40 compute units @ 1172MHz attached to a vapor chamber cooler.

Microsoft plans to have 22 titles ready for launch. Priced at $499.99, the system is scheduled for a worldwide release on Nov. 7th. With that price tag I'll take a wait and see approach myself, but some of the exclusives sure do look interesting.

If want the best possible console performance in gaming, and are willing to pay for it, Microsoft has become your best bet. The Xbox One X boasts a more than four-fold increase over the Xbox One's graphics capability, a 31 percent increase in CPU speed and a 50 percent increase in onboard RAM

price is too high...it's a beast of a system but they should have gone for $450 to start...plus Sony still has the better exclusives by far...

I liked how tiny the system is. Too bad the Xbone S isn't receiving a similar redesign. Just by looking at them, I'd assume the Xbone S is the more powerful system.

But yeah, that software lineup didn't look great. There was nothing on display that made me think it was a huge improvement over what I'd find on PS4 (let alone PS4 Pro). Anthem was the highlight for me, but I'm sure that will be multiplatform and the PC will be the best way to play it.

Sea of Thieves looks less and less appealing the more I see it too. Combat reminds me of something you'd find in Minecraft (read: very simple) and the co-op doesn't seem that interesting. The fact it looks like something you'd find coming out of a small Steam Greenlight dev doesn't help matters either.

Price drop to $399 within 6 months. $499 price is them taking a 'premium' posture and seeing if it sticks.

Unlikely, would piss off most of the early adopters. And if its price drops, it'll likely be to $449 before $399.

Wow, that was pretty bad.

A string of indie "exclusives" and one actual AAA exclusive (Forza 7). Meanwhile, Halo 6 was nowhere in sight. Worst of all, coming in at a price of $499. AGAIN.

So...worse software library than the PS4 Pro, AND $100 more. What's the phrase? Oh right...snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. *facepalm*

Hardcore gamers are going to buy it, but I thought $499 was a sale killing price point?

IMO, the problem isn't so much the price on its own but rather that the gulf between the $500 X and the $200 S is too wide. I think they'll have a hard time making a case for spending 2.5x the price on an upgraded machine that plays the same games, at least to people who aren't obsessed with having the hottest hotness.

Well, I wonder how much shit Sony is about to drop on MS.

Bet we'll see a bunch of first party exclusives, timed exclusive DLC (Destiny 2, of course), and another glimpse of Anthem running on PS4 Pro (because that game was easily the highlight of the MS conference).

Probably a sizzle reel of Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy 7 redux (with not a release date anywhere in sight).

I was hoping to see a price drop for PS4 Pro, but I don't know now, they don't really need it. Love to see the PS4 Pro have $50 shaved off and a slight redesign come out with 4K UHD Bluray support.

Should've just named it XXbox One. Of course, it does leave you with a bit of an issue for the upcoming XXXbox.

Sea of Thieves looks my type of game. I feel like a co-op pirate game can do really well. Didn't like the combat at all though.

Underwhelmed.

I for one look forward to this futuristic XXXBox. Hopefully it is implemented properly in my future SexBotXXXBox. Seriously, it's the 21st century, where are the seXXXBoxes ?

pathetic line up again, not a single exclusive worth buying the console, half of the so called exclusives are steam games, and as i expected, making the game run on both xbone and the scorpio will have one obvious and inevitable consequence...trade the richness of games for resolution, instead of seeing games getting better as they did from xbox to xbox360 then xbone, now we will go backward to xbox360 kind of games to be able to fit into 4k native for XoX.
also you can see that developers are not risking big projects exclusive on xbox, so going for 500$ might be another mistake M$ will pay darely for.
last elephant in the room....where is VR.

Yep ... boring line up ... and stupid console name. The 4K Blu-ray player is nice, though.

Why would Sony drop the price of the PS4 Pro a full five months before you can actually buy a Scorpio? They'll wait until just before the launch and then either stick the knife in with a drop to $349, or stick the knife in, twist it and break it off with $299.

So 4K Blueray player, right? When the hell are we going to get a damn Blueray player in Windows? Common format. Screw paying for a player, they're are all junk.

I was waiting to see how this would look, but I am not drooping 500$ on a new Xbox. I don't care if it does have Blu ray 4k playback. It's too expensive vs a normal Xbox one.

I do like my sony 6300 it blu ray upscale player. Before I got my Sammy smart tv I was using the Netflix and such over xbox one.

With XBox X at 499 they won't have to drop the price. It's already 20% cheaper. All most consumers will see is the Sony is significant cheaper. Can't tell u how many consumers came into best buy buying a nin wii over the other 2 systems because of it being cheaper

Simply put , I'm glad I took the money I was saving for a XBox X and using it towards a saltwater reef tank. Maybe buy the time halo 6 comes out, XBox X will be worth it with a dropped price

You know, I'm amazed that so many people in a tech forum are bitching at the price of the console. the console (supposedly) itself is a little less powerful than a 1070 which by itself is $420 - $449 right now and yet $500 is too much for a complete product? the hell? am I missing something? am I misreading the specs? If i'm wrong please tell me.

You aren't wrong. It is always a console bitchfest here.

I'm not complaining about the specs ... just the mediocre line up.

- It's more than just "a little less than a 1070".
- Its library is abysmal.
- The PS4 Pro is $399 and the library is A+.
- It'll be hamstrung by Xbox One titles with no exclusives of it's own, meaning it's merely an Xbox One with slightly more acceptable framerates.
- A lot of PC gamers haven't forgotten that Microsoft left windows gaming to rot while focusing on Xbox for 17 years, going so far as paying to keep certain titles off of windows.

Bottom line is Microsoft failed to provide a solid reason to spend $100 more for an inferior library. Forza rehash and a few multi-platforms, not even a new Halo. They didn't "bring it". Paper specs don't sell consoles. Games and pricing does.

Do you expect them to sell it at a loss? They may already be pricing it at a very slim profit margin. I'm sure their investors would LOVE to hear that. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are companies, they don't make consoles because of the warm fuzzies they get from seeing people game.

Cool! :) :D Now, as long as I can plug in my camera from my Xbox One, I will do it almost day one.

Yep I will be waiting for price drops, if at all.

Xbox One X. XOX. SIGHS LOUDLY. Seriously, MS? You couldn't come up with a better name than XOX? Should have just left it as Scorpio.

Worse than that, I hope they know that Three Days Grace released an album called One X several years ago... Let's hope they worked that out before they decided to use that name.
