...the HTC Vive Deluxe Audio Strap that is. I have had a calendar reminder set up for a week or two now to check the HTC Vive site for its new Vive Deluxe Audio Strap, and to my amazement, there it was for sale this morning. I grabbed one for review, but it looks like if you did not get while the gettin' is good, you might not be getting one for a while. While we are waiting for our Strap On to come in, we are playing with the MSI VR One.

Check out the video.

We're sorry but Vive Deluxe Audio Strap is currently out of stock and cannot be added to your cart. We apologize for any inconvenience.

This is probably the hardware the Vive should have shipped with, because we all know having more stuff strapped to your head that makes you look like a robot us uber-kewl.

My DIY welding helmet solution seems to work just as well and was far cheaper. I might pick one of these up if they cut the price in half.

Eventually I'm getting one of these audio straps for my Vive. I'm happy enough with the way I'm using it now, but it would be nice to not worry about separate headphones occasionally tangling with my Vive cord. The new strap looks more comfortable as well.

I got to say I am pretty salty over how they launched it, what the hell is the point of a sign up for notifications when this product is released when you stealth launch it without telling anyone. Bad form htc, bad form.

To be honest, everything from their product launches to their RMA support leaves a whole lot to be desired. Thankfully I have not had to utilize those services and I purchased from a different vendor, but I have heard some crazy horror stories about HTC support.

I hear a lot of girls of that persuasion actually like the strapless variety these days

I have clearly understood for years that the Men of [H] come in two varieties:

Those who could really, really, use a strapon in their life and the who can already go F-Themselves.

:)

I beat the shit out of mine and not one issue yet. The headset...

Awe! Does this mean the meat and greet at the Blue Oyster Bar is postponed?

aye! came here to figure out why the [H] strap ons were out of stock. lame ;-)

What did they do, make 10? The people that have actually bothered to invest in VR are dedicated to VR. Sound is an important part of the immersion of VR and, by most accounts, the Audio Strap is pulling that task off better than most.

These look super uncomfortable.

That was my initial thought when I first saw pictures but so far from all the reviews I've read, looks can be deceiving. Everyone says this is far superior in everyway to the included strap.

Before you go out and buy one, the padding is basically deteriorating when you sweat and then subsequently rub it. The padding is attached with velcro so hopefully they'll have something to replace it or an aftermarket product will be released.

Just make sure it doesn't get hacked. Then we'll know your "preferences".

Maybe he needs a head condom?

How does it compare with 3D stuff? I know with 3D it's really cool to watch, but only once or twice then it's just old hat. It was an easy addon for my TV, though. VR has a much higher cost of entry. Basically - is it a gimmick that you tire of?
The two technologies are not comparable in any way in my experience.

I get tired of specific games in VR but I don't think I'll ever get tired of VR itself. It's not even comparable to 3D, it's far more awesome.

Can you warn us before having to hear that horribly overused pretentious music again?

Cool product though, hope it sells well...

No, you are in charge of your volume, not me.

I've still got 3D Vision and just not all the same thing. There are a few games that still support it but I use it pretty much only for 3D BD which is how I watch anything that's released in the format that I watch and it's pretty cool for that. Gaming wise, VR is just a completely different experience, I know the word immersion is overused when describing VR but that's the best word I can think of. You really are there, not looking at it on a screen, at least with the good stuff.

PC VR is expensive, it can cause some people motion sickness, but with good content it's just nothing that's been done before and it's just flat out fun. I just don't see how it want become ever more pervasive as the tech gets better and cheaper, which is inevitable.

I have to be honest, I was figuring this was gonna be related to the WW film somehow. Nice title lol.

Another update on the Deluxe Strap padding deteriorating.

Scrub under warm water and it'll stop.
