Why is this a big deal?

It's an FALD lit (much better then edge lit lcd's) 4k hdr that supports dolby vision. The specs put it as one of the game changers for a 4k tv at that price range. You will be hard pressed to get a FALD 4k tv anywhere near that price range, let alone one with dolby vision.

First impressions so far on the set from AVS:

According to the forum thread on the tv, it's stated to start shipping June 5th, though amazon says 2-3 months right now.

The 50" and 65" is coming later this year as well.

item description says 43" tv. physical dimensions also dont seem to be 55 anywhere.

"Usually ships within 2 to 3 months."

:(

Was looking for a TV for my bedroom/computer place

According to that AVS article: 7800:1 native contrast and 14.1 ms input lag in HDR mode, all in 4K. Wow. Good deal if the production models turn out to be as good.

I would wait til there are reviews. I haven't seen a TCL TV worth a fuck yet. That really seems like a good TV by spec but that price makes it suspect.

Well they for sale but went up $50. Seems like a solid TV based off RTings.com Thinking of picking it up. $600 at Best buy and you don't have to wait on delivery if you don't need.

Excellent reviews and thanks for the heads up. There's a good chance this will be my new TV.

It also buys me time to see where OLED is headed within the next couple of years.

HDR brightness is no where near Dolby Vision levels. It will play back the content, but not show the actual difference vs HDR10.

Bestbuy has the same thing for $599 in stock but is SP605 (only difference I found was the remote).
