Color me surprised, as I had no idea Toshiba was even interested in OLED, nor are they ubiquitous in the display scene. While it is great to see another player join Panasonic, Philips, Sony, and LG in bringing the technology to more people, it should be noted that their X97 set is only slated for release in the UK and Europe. Hopefully, a US version is on the table, especially when you consider Toshiba’s claim of an input lag of less than 1ms. Users on AVS Forum report that LG’s 2017 models have an input lag of 21ms.

Toshiba's been a little quiet in the TV game over the past few years, but the company hopes that'll change with the introduction of its first OLED model, the 65-inch X97. In addition to that core panel technology, the X97 has a 4K/UHD resolution – as you'd expect – but there's been no mention of HDR (high dynamic range) support from Tosh as yet. This is also one for gamers to keep an eye on, as Tosh claims an input lag of less than 1ms. Call of Duty WW2 on a 65-inch OLED is, quite frankly, the stuff of which FPS dreams are made.

With all these partners on board, LG's OLED production must be going great.

This should lead to even lower prices.

Toshiba as THE brand of TV back in the old days. Dang good design and quality. It was pretty disappointing to their lack luster performance in this latest era.
I would live to see them make a come back.

Less than 1ms and OLED? Holy fuck that's amazing, might be a viable setup for my gaming PC.

Don't get to excited about marketing speak. TV could otherwise be horrible. Wait to proper reviews are out.

Never heard any salesperson try to use response time as a selling point before, so I'm optimistic. Not that I'll be able to afford this TV whenever it finally releases in the US :p

I bet they confused input lag with response time because of course oled has a less than 1ms response time. If they are actually talking about REAL signal processing latency of under 1ms count me in!

Saw quite a few Toshiba Regza tvs next to the usual suspects at Yodobashi camera this weekend so they're still selling strong in Japan but we talking $3k 55" pricing territory here on LCDs. They simply don't compete on the low end and sell OEM Chinese sets in the US.

I had a 47" Toshiba Regza 1080P from 2007 to 2015....worked great the whole time....was heavy as hell.

I've got a rear-projection 1080i Toshiba that just refuses to die! It's been 15 years and I want to upgrade; at this point I just may move and leave it behind! :D

No HDR support instantly kills this TV imo, especially compared to LG's 4k/hdr oleds.

Kind of defeats the point of buying a new tv if you skip out on HDR.

Wtf it has no HDR? If its using an LG panel then it SHOULD be HDR capable right? Eff this TV then.

No HDR because of it's cheaper price, and no 3d support either.

See:

Really hurts the tv imo, like why would you spend this much to get an OLED and then skimp out on HDR? Boggles my mind, it's like buying a Lamborghini and then sticking a 4 cylinder in it.

Well if that 4 cylinder Lambo was turbocharged and made 1000hp I'd still buy it if I could lol. But I do understand your point.
