SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

Doas anyone have a problem to fit the riser card into the case? The last 5-7mm wont fit into it wich result in a gap between the GPU and the case which wont let me secure it. The riser seems either be to big for the gap or I'm to stupid to fit it in (brute force wont help). Does anyone have an idea what to do?

I've installed the riser into the case like described in this YT:

Thanks in advance!

The plastic piece should be held between the metal pieces of the gap. If it doesn't go directly in, then you can fit it inside two ways: 1) try to use a pry tool or a screwdriver to "let in" the plastic piece 2) angle it a bit to make it fit inside:

That's how this should be fitting:

Riser.JPG

1) Pry tool/screwdriver

Pry tool.png

2) Angle

angle.png

3) Finally if that doesn't work, then you can simply bend the lower piece a little, just apply some pressure with fingers till you can fit it inside. Just few degrees of angle / push it down a millimetre.

Also note the fact that notches in the bottom of the riser have to fit into the cutouts on the bottom piece like shown in the page 13 of the online manual:

We know this part might be tricky and we will try to improve the manual based on your feedback.

you can shoehorn it in there really easy with a thin piece of plastic like the hard kind that most ram are packaged in, just cut a section out with a scissor.

Nice idea for DIY prytool replacement like in #2

Yeah it works very well.
I was also confused for a bit as it really didnt seem to fit at all just by pushing it in and the holes in the pcb do look bit like they line up with the screws at first glance.

That was the trick! Actually it was pretty easy with the screwdriver and a little faith. Thanks for your help!

13th week of Sentry manufacturing process

Finally weekend :) Almost all packages from 2nd 150 cases transport sent. Everyone within this range of units should get an email with tracking number.

We received some information about bad package treatment by the courier companies, so we had to make some improvements:

a) because black stretch foli makes some trouble with verification of the after shipment package condition, we decided we will use it only for those units which might be sent by the sea transport. For other forms of shipment we will pack Sentry without this foil. It means, when you will receive your package, you shouldn't worry that you got the carton box without external black wrap. Just check the external condition of the package.

z7zxsjcoxafmozanw3j3.jpg

b) we had one situation when our backer received a package which was damaged by some sort of sharp tool, probably hook. We started our investigation and it turns out, that in some transport companies when the package for some reason is blocked on the transport line workers are using hooks to unstuck it and move forward. We had only one such situation, but we decided we have to protect next transports against similar damages and other connected problems. Firstly we ordered additional stickers with "no hooks" image. All packages will have those graphics on two biggest sides. Secondly, we bought a banding machine for 15mm polypropylene tape instead adhesive tape which we used before. It will provide always the same amount of force for holding the sides of the transport boxes together and it shouldn't extend itself in different transport conditions. We hope this will be enough to prevent future problems.

Meanwhile, when we were waiting for couriers to pick your packages, we started the preparations for assembling next 150 Sentry cases. This time the black ones.

At the end we would like to ask for some feedback from everyone who already received their cases. Only few people wrote us an information about the shape of the package they got from the courier. We will be very grateful if after receiving your Sentry you could write us even a short email with notification about the internal and external box condition. We have many more packages to send and if there are some mistakes we make, it would be great if we could avoid them for future transports. Thank you.

Geeezzzz guys. Don't you sleep??? Is 1:00 :/ Tomorrow you should get some rest and quality time with friends and family.

Hi there,

my order status is fufiled, however I don't have a tracking number on my email. Any way to follow that up?

Order ID is 75.

Thank you!

"Workaholic" is the word you were looking for :) My wife is using it all the time. I used to tell her "sleep is for the weak" but that never ended well....:)
Can you tell us the range of number of orders that have been completed based on Order ID. Like I read you said the following black case shipping will start on order 315 or something? Are you at order ID 315?

Glad I didn't buy all my gear for this build yet...I won't have it till July sometime by the looks of it :/ upside is at least I should have more options as far as mini itx ryzen boards go

You should have an email notification from the courier company. Make sure to check the mailbox connected with the indiegogo account if you have multiple accounts.

This time those were White and W+W perks with order numbers from 4 to 692 and B+W with order numbers from 14 to 377. Note the fact that there were less white cases ordered initially so the order numbers for first 150 white cases are scattered across bigger range of numbers. We are getting 150 cases for each shipment alternately black and white based on our agreement with subcontractor, so since there were less white unit orders in the beginning of the campaign, the higher number orders for white units will precede some lower order numbers for black units.

Shipping #3 will start with order number 301 and should end up with something around 550 for single black cases depending on how much cases will pass the QC.

Hey, SaperPL ZombiPL,

is it possible that you lock the shipping information for an order already, even if the shipping process hasn't started yet?

It would make selling/buying an Indiegogo queue place much easier/safer! :)

I'm gutted after reading 13th week of Sentry manufacturing process update and the words sea freight for shipping. I'm in Australia and late 500's for Order ID so I'll be seeing my case around October if I'm lucky, it's on average 3 months for sea freight to AU.

May as well hold out for the 10nm Intel CPU Cannon Lake. Glad I haven't bought any parts yet :(

I don't get it. Why and how it would make anything easier?

We are locking orders that we believe will be within next shipment so our accountant can make the invoices for those orders. If someone has a locked order and he still wants to change his address then he'll have to contact us. This way we don't need to monitor all the order detail changes. It's also kind of information that the order is being processed for current shipping.

Oh, sorry, you're right - that also includes the order number range for B+B.

According to Polish post it's 6-8 weeks, so less than two months is a worst case scenario.

I'd say if we manage to send 6 shipments by the end of June, then it's more likely August for your order (depending on your case colour), not October.

I am order 1100ish :( You might get your case before me. And I live in Austria... xD

It would make fraud protection way easier, cause the seller could not change the address back after receiving the money :)

Which seller? Are you talking about trading perks? In that case, if I were to lock the order, then he couldn't change the address in the first place and he would need to ask us for this change to happen.

At the same time if the person selling his campaign perk came in last minute when the perk is locked and we have no idea that the previously address was changed (we're not tracking those address changes nor we can see the change history in the indiegogo contribution panel), he could ask us to change the shipping address and we would do it if he wasn't late to contact us about it.

In general that's why we didn't want to take part in trading the perks as we have no time to safeguard it properly. You have to figure out how to safely trade the perk on your own. The best way *might* be trading the indiegogo account details, so the new owner changes his password etc, but that might be against indiegogo rules.

Hey SaperPL I need help figuring out when my order is likely to ship as I'm struggling to do the math with the delays currently going on, my order id is 1110. I know you've already tried to explain things but I'm still confused.:nailbiting::)

1) As we stated in the previous update we hope to close up the shipping in the beginning of July.

2) There are around 1330 order numbers but there are only 920 valid orders (not refunded) so that should tell you roughly where is your place in line.

3) There are 1010 cases ordered and we are making shipments of ~150 so there will be 7 shipments and it would be great if we were to finish 6 shipments before the June ends, that's what we hope for.

With order number 1110 you should be somewhere around 6th shipment.

I hope that also explains the situation to the others. We're not making a timeline for the shipments because orders at the edges would constantly shift from one shipment to another depending on quality control/yield.

Yeah I can understand that.

We'll have to think of something by ourselves then.

On which day in the week do you lock orders?

On which day in the week do you lock orders?

There's no specific day planned for locking. We're locking when our accountant is ready to prepare next batch of invoices. Obviously there's other tasks for our accountant, not only this project.

The shipments aren't prepared specifically in a way that each shipment processing starts at the same day - each delay or improvement may shift the schedule back and forth.

Why are you asking specifically?

1) As we stated in the previous update we hope to close up the shipping in the beginning of July.

This really helps, yes. I appreciate the insight even if you can't give a timeline (with good reason, I agree). I'm personally going to be happy if I receive my Sentry by August which may work out because my birthday is in late July.

Fun fact showing not only you have problems with dealing with some numbers :)

Every Sentry case is described by 7 numbers:

1. Order number,
2. Case number,
3. Invoice number,
4. Shipping number,
5. Customs declaration number,
6. Customs internal proceeding number,
7. Package international export number.

Points 5 and 6 are needed to get point 7.

If a courier company changes something and will send the package to the different customs services office than we set in our Customs declaration, we have to get a new numbers from point 5 and 6 to finally get the number from point 7. Those old 5 and 6 numbers aren't deleted but they are still kept together :)

When courier comes to pick the package, you never know where logistics center will send it (Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, by sea, by plane, by train, etc.,etc.). They will send it to the place which will be the most optimal from their calculations. They won't tell you that location in advance, because in that moment they also probably don't know that information yet...while you have to fill the customs documents right now! Because of that, we had to change the customs declaration for first transport 3 times. It means, that most Sentry cases from 1st transport of 150 units we sent are described by... 13 different numbers :D:D:D. If You let your courier company deal with customs by themselves it is a lot easier, but also cost of transport is rising significantly and we didn't want you guys to pay more if with some additional work we can make it cheaper.

Happy to report, that my white Sentry made it in one piece through the long and arduous journey of a bit over 100 km. Good job with the foam inserts - not a scratch on the inner box. Now I'm just waiting for the rest of the hardware, thankfully as I can se my motherboard has just been announced.

Fatal1ty X370 Gaming-ITX/ac

looks awesome, good wifi, ethernet, nice VRMs, best audio.
Anyone has any hints how to get them early? I'm tired of waiting.

Hello and thank you for creating this case. I was looking for a long time (years) for a case like this. Almost pulled the trigger on the silverstone one but luckily found the sentry.

My current pc is a HP Elite 6000 SFF with a 3.0GHZ quadcore Xeon, 8GB of ram and a gt730. Mainly to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Fallout 3,4. It resides on the top shelf in my hall closet with a 15 meter dvi to hdmi cable going to my tv in the living room. Noise and temperatures are no issue, closet stays very cool throughout the summer.

I really believe this is the only case i will own from now on, hell its the first case i ever bought. Just the fact that i could possibly repaint it is awesome.

My main want with my build is expandability so i am very fixated on getting thunderbolt 3.
This means for now the fatality mini itx board which is the only one with thunderbolt 3.
Might also want to built a hackintosh / dual / triple boot or running virtual machines.

Possible Build scenarios:

Fatality itx core i5 with galax 1070 mini or similarly small gpu and fill up extra space with harddrives.

Bifurcation supported itx board (ryzen 1500 or intel) with galax 1070 katana and a thunderbolt expansion card

OR if the gods permit a (vega) graphics card that also has thunderbolt 3 connector and support.

I am also playing with the idea of putting a 300 watt hdplex in the case because i could orientate the psu rectangularly. I saw this idea on another forum about the sentry. This would give enough space to place possibly a 3,5 inch drive. Mounted on my own responsibility of course.

But above all i am patiently waiting to see if the market changes when vega is released before buying anything.

I am order number 4 with a white case

You should be aware that the Katana might perform awful in the Sentry. In the "Hardware Unboxed" review it hits the thermal limit of 82C in an ATX tower with absolutely perfect airflow, so it will hit 82C in the Sentry even faster and either ramp up the fan speed like crazy, or thermal throttle a lot.

Swank On-Board Wifi! Just need to make sure the reverse side has an M.2 slot and I'm sold!
There's branding for Ultra M.2 on the board. My guess is the slot is on the back, similar to the Biostar board. I just want to know when this will be released so I can buy it before it goes out of stock.
